Anyone recognize this thing?

Alternately, any tech guys who want to poke at it and figure out how it works?

It has got to be your day off by now, you've been on the past week solid.

Soo cool! [Thomas begins looking around it on Bakura's arm.]

I thought those two parts would move, but not like that. Hm, that's a deck of cards so the trigger has to be more than a push button. Maybe an infared light?

There's also another button on the bottom, for if you wanna just keep your deck in all the time and not do the drama thing. Doubles as the "turn this thing the hell off" button too.

But the coolest part...

[[He holds it out in front of him, drawing a card before slapping it down face up on the playing field.

Seconds later a hologram of the monster appeared with a groan, looming over the rug]]

... [Thomas just states at the hologram for a moment before his head suddenly snaps up to stare at Bakura.]

We need to find out exactly how this works and become rich. Then we buy our way out of Locke and live the good life for however long that lasts.

[It is just so cool.]

.... and do you want to explain how you invented it? [[removes the card, sliding it back into his deck and presses the button to disengage the disk, catching it as it detaches from his arm.]]

I just want to be able to make a second one. No good to play with only one....

I'll say I thought it up in the tub. [He shrugs and stares intently at the duel disc.]

What cardgame is that anyway?

Not entirely sure... [[he pulls out the deck, looking through the cards]] Something that only exists in whatever world my others are from...

Then why do you want a second one? If it's only from the world you're from and that's apparently your deck, what's the point?

... Still let me open it though.

Can you imagine if we can get it to work with Magic cards?

[[holds it out with a grin]]

Or if we can make the cards too.

... OK those are both really good ideas. Does it even have all the space needed for mana though?

Kinda... there are these slots back here... I think they're for the magic and trap cards. There's only five of them, though... and I don't think you can get more than one in a slot. We'd have to do something about that.

Is there a ceiling on mana? If not then we might be in trouble with this idea.

Nah, just means we'll have to figure out something else. Like swipe the card and then stick it in a hatch and it'll just be on the field as an illusion or something. Or maybe a tray that expands.

Hm, that isn't a bad idea. No, not at all. I think the hatch idea would work best of those, but we can't do anything until we open this thing up.

Less talk, more work, eh? [[grins, holding the disc out]]

Exactly! OK, the screws are probably on the underside, but lets not get this scuffed.

[Thomas takes it from him and sets it on one side of the work bench. He picks a blanket off of the ground and sets it on the rest of the work bench before setting the disc upside down on it.]

Just to make sure, you consent to me trying to open this up, right?

I'm handing you the thing, aren't I? What, did you want me to sign a waiver or something? Just don't break it...

I know I know. Just an old habit one of my first professors taught us. "Get it in writing if you can because no matter how many times you warn them about risk, they'll still sue if things go south."

I guess he had a few jobs go south or something.

[He huffs and begins unscrewing what screws he can find.]

I am sure Bakura. Don't you worry. I'm confident in my skills.

[He carefully removes the gauntlet portion and the bottom, exposing the joints for the disc's wings itself as well as wiring connecting the off switch to the electronics.]

Ok, looks like most of the tech itself is in the top portion.

[ooc: Looking at the duel disc lineart for reference for this so excuse me if I do somehow contradict canon.]

In the round part where the deck goes? I guess that makes sense...

Looks like it.

[He carefully disconnects the wire from the bottom switch, putting a bit of colored tape on the wire's end and where it connects before starting to unscrew the wing's joints.]

It's where the counter is so it makes sense.

[[There's a growing touch of anxiety as he watches Thomas work. Partly because he has no idea any of this stuff and dang it, he only has one of those things and it's amazing and he doesn't want it to get busted.]]

And probably there's something in the tray to read the cards somehow... and likely something in the cards for it to read, right?

Probably. The connection is probably similarly to how wires in a laptop's screen connect to the rest and have room to move while having set ends.

[Thomas stops and look at Bakura.]

You ok? You look a little nervous.

[Action] Wish I still had my old duel disc

[Action] I got rid of mine ages ago. They were so heavy and awkward...
