The countryside was nice and the plants were singing and the birds and the sun was almost up from the bottom of the sky. The mood was set for Teresa Pyrope's quest to help the newbie LARPers where she was. Teresa Pyrope looked around the countrysides and said, "It's a good day to do what has to be done by me and help these people to have fun."

No, not D&D, just general roleplaying.

No, just freeform. Like round robin writing, you know? Except each person only writes one character instead of one line or paragraph or chapter or whatever.

I - I don't know what that is.

The asshole power players. The ones who try and claim that they're bigger and badder than anything else in the game and basically ruin it for everyone else who actually wants to have fun.

"You don't get a lot of those, and usually they don't get accepted to stuff," Roxy says, reflecting. "People like that would probably prefer something more D&D-style anyway."

"Accepted?" Bakura blinked. "Private forums?" he guessed.

[wonk]

"Well, it's not private, but you generally have to submit an application of your character," Roxy says. "So the mods know that you know what you're doing. That's how they tell if you're a - munchkin?"

She pauses, then adds, "Also, there isn't a point to power playing, because you don't really win anything, y'know? There's no loot or cash you get - it's about the story."

"...sounds far more organized than any game I've ever been in..."

He paused. "And you'd be surprised how little that matters to a munchkin. I mean, really, no matter how badass your character is, you're still you at the end of the game. And if the DM has it out for you, your character's going to be under a pile of rocks anyway."

"I dunno, I've never really seen anyone like that anyway," Roxy says. "I guess they just don't show up to things like that."

"Guess so. Must be nice, not having to deal with them! Makes me almost want to look into it..." he laughed.

"Well you get your drama no matter what you're doing," Roxy says. "But I try to stay out of that stuff."

[shiromadoushi]

"That is always the hope," he smiled.

"So, what kinda character do you normally play? Is Sir Pretty Good Wizard your main stay?"

Nah, I usually go with Zazzerpan himself. He's a super-reckless wizard who's always desperate to be the hero he never got to be in his youth.

[She grins.]

Sometimes I have him drag Frigglish along though. Frigglish would much rather not be along, so that's really great because Zazzerpan's like "Come on, Frigglish, let's rescue the poor maiden!" and Frigglish is like, "Um, sir, I don't think this one's going to go any better than any of the other ones," and then it obviously doesn't and everything goes crazy and it's just really great.
