Who: Alexander, Anthony, Bakura, Banagher, Hajime, John, Lyall, Ravindra, Reilanin & Vanessa
Where: Alex & Ravi's apartment
When: Friday, Sept. 13th (ooooh)
What: Movie night!
Warnings: --

[ and so it happened that tonight was a movie night slightly different from the one alex, anthony, john (and ravindra, when he wanted to be included) had grown accustomed to -- namely, the volume of bodies had doubled, plus two. the cats were split in opinion; adhirat sought shelter in ravi's room, while olivia got cozy with anyone who'd give her the time of day and gomez poked around and occasionally darted off.

the more the merrier -- for anthony's sake, partially, as holing up in an apartment couldn't have been very fun (thought alex) while his peers enjoyed (or enjoyed to hate) school. bakura was a friend of his, so alex was more than happy to have him over. lyall could always use a break. hajime had been an invaluable asset at the water bust and seemed like a swell guy. john was an 'of course'; a founding member of movie night and someone alex got along with splendidly. vanessa, well.

vanessa could do with the company of good people. she seemed to get along with banagher fine, too, and alex was fond of both of them.

as for reilanin, he was basically continuing to offer the branch of friendship, or something like it. he'd actually been surprised when she accepted the invitation. as a librarian, she was probably familiar with the movie they'd be watching tonight.

twilight (or the save the earth equivalent of). ]

[ ooc: more or less a mingle log! throw up your own threads, go hog wild, yeah!
here's the apartment layout for reference. they're on the second floor! ]

"That was a given." He actually knows fuck-all about Twilight beyond the 'sparkly vampire' trope, but it's not hard to tell that Bella and Edward are being set up as some ~*timeless romance*~ through a bunch of cheap writing tricks.

He watches a lot of really awful movies, okay.

"How many of these movies are there?" he asks suddenly, trepidation in the glance he throws at Vanessa.

Vanessa does not. Oh, she's seen bad movies but this is the first time she's sat down with a group of people who have banded together to watch something awful apparently on purpose.

That just makes the badness even worse. She hasn't built up an immunity to it yet.

"Four, apparently." She glances back then blinks, looking around the room. "I'm not coming back if movie night is just going to be more of this."

"Four!" Mock horror? Real horror? Your best guess is as good as any. How can they possibly keep this threadbare plotless romance going for four damn movies? (But the curiosity begs to be sated...)

The assertion that she won't want to come back pings him as a failure on his part, because thanks anxiety, so he's quick to respond, "Don't worry, it's my apartment, I get veto power."
doomedtheworld: (You're finished)

She'll pick real horror. She doesn't even have the train wreck curiosity that this movie seems to infect people with.

Although... now that she thinks about it, how do they stretch this crap over four movies...?

She's blissfully unaware of any anxiety caused by her words. It wasn't his fault that Alex had chosen to invite her on this night. She does let out a breath of relief though, if that helps at all.

"In that case, invite me when you're the one picking."

He'll probably end up watching them all out of sheer train-wreck curiosity, but not with a group like this. That sounds like an endeavour best saved for just himself and Alex.

Her response is a relief. From personal failure to personal success! ...but then pressure, too. oh god.

He has to consider this for a moment before he asks it. "Have you seen any of the horror classics?"
doomedtheworld: (Careful)

[personal profile] doomedtheworld 2013-09-30 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
It's all theirs. Passing morbid curiosity or not, it's probably not worth putting herself through even more of this just to find out how bad it can get.

Horror classics though? She tilts her head a bit thoughtfully, trying to think back to the movies she'd watched back during her high school days.

"I saw the ones with that guy in the raincoat. Some kids ran him over so he started killing them with a hook or something?"

Classic.

He gives her a dubious look, because he's pretty sure he knows what film she's describing and wow that is...not...even close...

At least he is polite about her ignorance. "For the next one, I will pick something worth watching."

She arches an eyebrow at that look, glancing around a bit uncomfortably.

"What?" She shrugs, muttering a bit. "I liked them."

He doesn't want to make her feel bad about that, but wow, she is not a very discerning moviegoer is she.

He gives a slight shrug in response, hoping to brush aside the fact that he just accidentally called her taste in horror films shitty. "Ah--I only meant there are better horror movies to watch."
