Who: Alexander, Anthony, Bakura, Banagher, Hajime, John, Lyall, Ravindra, Reilanin & Vanessa
Where: Alex & Ravi's apartment
When: Friday, Sept. 13th (ooooh)
What: Movie night!
Warnings: --
[ and so it happened that tonight was a movie night slightly different from the one alex, anthony, john (and ravindra, when he wanted to be included) had grown accustomed to -- namely, the volume of bodies had doubled, plus two. the cats were split in opinion; adhirat sought shelter in ravi's room, while olivia got cozy with anyone who'd give her the time of day and gomez poked around and occasionally darted off.
the more the merrier -- for anthony's sake, partially, as holing up in an apartment couldn't have been very fun (thought alex) while his peers enjoyed (or enjoyed to hate) school. bakura was a friend of his, so alex was more than happy to have him over. lyall could always use a break. hajime had been an invaluable asset at the water bust and seemed like a swell guy. john was an 'of course'; a founding member of movie night and someone alex got along with splendidly. vanessa, well.
vanessa could do with the company of good people. she seemed to get along with banagher fine, too, and alex was fond of both of them.
as for reilanin, he was basically continuing to offer the branch of friendship, or something like it. he'd actually been surprised when she accepted the invitation. as a librarian, she was probably familiar with the movie they'd be watching tonight.
twilight (or the save the earth equivalent of). ]
[ ooc: more or less a mingle log! throw up your own threads, go hog wild, yeah!
here's the apartment layout for reference. they're on the second floor! ]

at the admission, he tilts his head a fraction, brows pinched together. then he tilts his head some more, eyes narrowing at John. when he speaks, it's at the same, low volume John used. ]
You're-- you, too?
no subject
[It feels kind of nice admitting to it finally, albeit in a rather horrible way.]
I don't know what will happen when I need blood. The other me... [He offered Alex a thin-lipped smile.] I might have been a monster. A really bad one.
no subject
"i might have been a monster."
alex's hand shoots out to grab john's arm. he takes a step closer to him, invading his personal space. ]
No. No, wait, why do you think you were a monster?
[ there's an unsettling sense of urgency in his voice. ]
no subject
There was this conversation that I had with someone. [He can hear the woman's voice as clear as day in his head, can hear himself answer her in turn. There's blood on her, blood on him... It's everywhere.] The words that were used to describe me...
[His jaw clenches, and he exhales slowly, shakily.]
And the look on her face. [John shakes his head.] The hate and disgust... The fear.
You don't look at a human that way.
no subject
he is looking at the fridge.
he turns his attention back onto john and drops his hand to his side. ]
Tell me-- [ if you are ] if you feel the need to, to drink blood, let me know. I'll bring you something to tide you over.
no subject
Thanks. [His gaze swings toward the floor before shifting back to look at Alex again.]
...How long did it take you to get to this point?
[To get back that bloodlust.]
no subject
But the question detours him. ]
Uh... It, it wasn't a process. I got it from a pulse. [ he shifts his weight to one foot. ] About two months ago? Just, suddenly-- [ he claps his hands together, perpendicular, ] here you go, Varista, now you gotta drink blood.

[He glances toward the group gathered in the living room, and he chews in his lower lip. It's a morbid thought, but he genuinely hopes that none of those people there will end up a victim.
John takes a strange sort of comfort from the fact that Anthony is... Well, not exactly in the menu.]
The jello had been enough?
[No... Accidents?]
no subject
It's been enough, yeah. I, uh, actually drink it straight, too, but the jello, it gives me something to chew on. Sorta. Variety, I guess.
no subject
Right...
[John goes quiet for a moment, rubbing idly at the back of his neck.]
And you feel satiated afterwards?
[Because while he might have had only a glimpse of what the hunger feels like, he isn't sure how he would handle that feeling all the time, and right now? John's a bit dubious about how filling blood can be, vampire or not.]
no subject
[ he cracks a smile, shrugs. ]
Saves me a bunch on meals?
no subject
[That's a bit more like them: making light of serious situations. He gives Alex a small smile of his own before rubbing at the back of his neck. Man, if he follows Alex's vampiric route, all of his newly found cooking skills will go to waste.]
Have you tried any other special dishes?
[The first thing that pops into his head is black pudding, but has Alex even had it before?]
no subject
No, I haven't. There's some Filipino dish, though, blood stew or something. That's how I got the idea for the jello-- except reversed.
[ no, he's never had black pudding before. ]
no subject
Do you think I should look into recipes like that?
[Cookies are definitely better and more normal, but blood dishes might prove to be more useful soon...]
no subject
he catches the motion and takes it for disgust. something like a smile lifts the corner of his lips, but it's brief and halfhearted. ]
'Should'? Man, if you want to. Hopefully it'll be for nothing.
[ unless he wants to cook for alex, ofc. hah!
he knocks john's arm lightly with his knuckles, lowers his voice a little more. ]
But you tell me, all right? If something else changes.
no subject
Either way, he reaches over and rests a hand on Alex's shoulder following the gentle tap and gives the guy a quick squeeze. His smile is tight--worried about what's to come--but he nods.]
Yeah. You'll be the first to know.
[Or so he hopes. The last thing he needs is to kill the first person he sees as a bloodsucking vampire.]
no subject
at this very moment, that quick squeeze means way more to him than it's probably meant to. he doesn't return the smile, not even a bleak one, because he doesn't actually feel like smiling at all.
right now, he feels okay not to.
he nods towards the living room, silently asking if john's ready to rejoin the group. ]
no subject
C'mon.
[John starts for the living area again, silently hoping that no one here will ever have to see what he's becoming.]
