Who: Soren (
mood2wiingiing) and Aria (
eras)
What: Aria owes Soren a soda
Where: Locke High School track
When: Backdated, to... let's say after school last Tuesday
[it took a few days after school started (well, actually more like a week, but close enough) for Soren to finally decide to try and track down Aria like he said he would. given that he had the advantage of knowing what she looked like AND knowing what sorts of activities she did, he knew it wouldn't be too hard, but it still was a bit of an effort - after all, he wasn't the most social of kids and he would have preferred go home and mess around online than actually go outside and socialize with someone he barely knew. but he figured actually making some connection to the whole numbers conspiracy outside of the network would be a good thing, and besides, who could turn down a free soda?
so on tuesday after school, Soren made his way to the track field at school to try and find her. by "try to find her" i mean sort of standing around awkwardly watching people run and trying to spot her without standing out too much, but those are about the same thing right? yeah they pretty much are.]

It's coming undone anyway, but what can one do about uncontrollable hair? Very little.
While she doesn't pay any attention to onlookers during practice, she does scan them briefly after, heading over to a bench where her bag sits to start swapping out her shoes. She doesn't know what Soren looks like, though, and isn't actually thinking about random people she's met on the network, so for the moment the kid with the glasses flies under her radar as she unlaces her track shoes and swaps them out for a more beat-up pair of everyday shoes. ]

because nerd is why. Anyways since he assumes (correctly, it seems) that he has the upper hand here, he just sorta casually makes his way over to her while she's swapping shoes, trying to make himself seem way more casual and nonchalant than he's actually feeling. It's a partial success, although he still probably seems a bit awkward as he stands next to her. But he can totally pretend to be a cool kid at least for the exact moment.]So, you owe me a soda. [he is so smooth. and there is totally a bit of a lisp there on those s's (stupid braces)]

Aria's look of confusion fades when he speaks, to a pout. ]
Oh, drat. [ She's pretty quick to change to a grin, though. ] Next time you play a game with me, you're going to be the one to lose, Soren.
[ She definitely has change on her, anyway, and a soda is like a dollar at the vending machines, so... ]

[and a grin, a little awkward in that socially awkward, nerdy kind of way. he's worrying a bit, about what to say and what if he messes up, but she seems cool enough online and they have some kind of ~connection~ or something, if her recognizing him based on her echoes was anything to go by. so even though he probably still seems a bit shy/nervous, it isn't as bad as it could be.
he doesn't really say anything else though, instead just kind of being awkward and waiting for her to... lead the way to the sodas or something. or maybe start a conversation? how do social interactions with strangers work...?]

[ OR OTHER...NON-VIDEO GAMES although she's decent at anything that requires puzzle-solving. After standing up, Aria stretches, then slings her bag over her shoulder. She doesn't seem to be feeling the same awkwardness as the younger student, instead glancing around.
The nearest machine should be...? ]
I think probably the one near the entrance? [ She points, before starting in that direction. ] Anyway, what's new? Are you still doing the cookie thing?
no subject
[but alright, this he can totally do. just follow her to get soda and talk about video games, that's perfectly simple.] Not really. I mean it's kind of boring you know, it just plays itself and stuff? Like what's the point really. I've been playing real games instead.
no subject
[ See? Social interaction isn't that hard! ...At least, not with people who are interested in interacting with you. ] I never really started it up. Fear of badge collecting, like I said. But which real games are those? I've...well, I've been doing other things.
no subject
MMO's, mostly. Just pwning people, you know.
What kinds of other things?
no subject
[ Totally not going to give you any warnings beyond that, though. No one else can understand. ]
Oh, you know. ...Network things. And history homework. And track practice.
no subject
Right. The usual.
no subject
[ good luck talking her out of it. ]
Yeah, well. I may or may not be doing real Indiana Jones stuff this weekend! We'll see. And I'll for sure be doing more running.
So, hey - let me guess: Mountain Dew.
no subject
You mean the weird... rope tricks, or whatever? Or something else?
[laugh] Yeah, obviously. How else could I sustain my normal nocturnal lifestyle?
no subject
Oh, there's...well, I guess you still might not be following things that closely. [ She glances around again, casually; there's no one near enough to hear them, but she inches over anyway, and lowers her voice. ] Basically, I kinda signed up to go investigate the mines.
[ ...Followed by an eyeroll and dropping the seriousness. ] I knew it'd be the most sugary thing! Okay, your turn. What do you think I'm getting myself?
no subject
Oh. [that. doesn't sound very safe at all. or very fun. way too physical (even if it's maybe cool)] Well... Be careful, I guess? Don't die, at least.
Hm... [let him think...] Water or juice or something that's not sugary, is what I'm guessing. No idea past that.
no subject
I will do my utmost not to die! I mean, I tend to do that anyway. I hear it's not very fun. [ ...that was a bad joke, but. She...tried.
And Soren wins another pout. ] Oh, come on! I kept saying you'd owe me a soda - you were supposed to guess one of those!
[ ...Not that he's wrong. As they approach the machine she's going to be eyeing the juices. Goshdarnit. ]
no subject
If you're putting down the amazing and flawless Dew then there's no way you would be buying a soda. [grin. he is just that awesome.]
no subject
That stuff is like pure sugar, though! That's totally different than most sodas! [ why is she arguing about this, though. Aria pulls out her wallet from her bag (...Indiana Jones, unshockingly) and feeds a dollar into the machine before hitting A7 to procure Mountain Dew, which she then hands over to Soren.
A second dollar buys her some pink vitamin water. ]
no subject
No, it's pure caffeine, the sugar is like the cherry on top! How else am I supposed to stay up all night gaming? [and happily taking that soda thank you very much. with a dorky grin on his face because this is kind of fun even if it's just being silly and getting a drink with someone he doesn't know that well yet.]
no subject
[ aside from like, her. ]
Sugar, caffeine - same difference! And I don't know, you could try sleeping instead...it's this thing that recharges you for the next day, I don't know if you know it. [ Sticking out her tongue is REAL MATURE, and she will just uncap her water to take a sip. Track is hard. ]
no subject
Sleeping is for losers. Why sleep when you can just do other things?
no subject
Because you get to have waking hours not hyped up on caffeine just to keep your eyes open? [ She's mostly teasing, but yeah, SLEEP IS COOL. ]
no subject
I still have some! Just, not the normal ones and all. I mean, I'm here, right, so obviously I had to sleep at least a little.
no subject
Maybe! And hey, you're even outside. And not in flames!
no subject
It's shocking isn't it? I'm surprised I even made it out here.
no subject
Well, that rules out "vampire" for good...
