6th Howl [Text/Friday early morning]

There is a new statue in the Dead District, in the small square on the corner of 8th and Lincoln. It has the same effects as the first in the police station, except it makes me want to leave the area, not trust someone. Has anyone else been by it? Has anyone else touched it?

What interest could these people, and Thunder Corporation, have in keeping people out of that part of the city? What connection could the Thunder Corporation have with the people who want to find the "snake" and shoot kids?

And does anyone know anything about David Proud, the sculptor? I can't find anything much online. There must be some connection with him, as well, if he's making these things.


Also a note to my students:
If you don't see me around school today, don't worry, I'm fine! I just called in sick today.

I don't know enough Japanese to have any idea what any of that means, but... ugh.

[Rubbing at his eyes, now. This is just too strange and confusing.]

You calling me Doll was familiar, too. It's as if-- as if whoever I'm getting these visions from, he knows someone very much like you. Except not you, because unlike with your new friend, I don't find you familiar at all.

[That's a good thing, Fay. He has the vague impression the vision-him didn't much like that other blonde.]

That's Japanese? [That was news to him.] Sounds like a lot of nonsense to me. [Political correctness. He has it.] Like, I know Youou is Asian or something but... yeah.

[He hums softly, thinking.]

That's... really weird. But I guess I ain't exactly what you'd call a special snowflake, so there being someone else like me except not me ain't much of a surprise?

I have so many Japanese students, I recognize it by now, even if I don't know what it says. I suppose it could be something similar, but-- well, that was my first assumption.

[Now he's confused whether or not it really was Japanese. Damn.]

Well. Anyway. I suppose it's a weird day, for all of us.

Huh. Well, I guess that's worth looking into. Maybe it actually means something, who knows.

[Fay is just generally confused.]

Well, I guess the more we remember or... or whatever it is, the more we know. [A beat.] But I won't call you puppy unless you want me too, sugar.

[Wouldn't that be nerve-wracking, to find out someone who doesn't speak Japanese is getting bits of it from these visions... Lyall chuckles just a little at the last bit, though.]

Call me what you like. You probably will, anyway. Though I'm not sure "puppy" really fits me. I'd like to think I'm not very dog-like. Besides, I'm older than you, anyway.

[Not as nerve-wracking as finding out that you know a large chunk of ancient Japanese/Chinese along with some kind of old Norse/old Greek mix. But that will come later. For now it's just the nicknames.]

Well, my mama always told me to be respectful of my elders, though 'elder' sounds like someone with a lot more beard than you. [He chuckles quietly.] I think I stay away from the dog references for now, though.

Good idea. At least then I won't start associating you with whoever that was in the vision.

[Lyall is up and pacing around now, and Fay can probably hear him rustling papers on his desk in the back room. He changes subjects, presumably to what those papers are.]

At least being stuck home today means I can finish some grading... though I feel much better now than I did this morning.
