[Attached is a photo of something that looks remarkably like a gun. No, Matt has not become the proudest new member of the NRA.

He's freaking out a little bit because he has officially had the most fucked up day of his life a little over a week ago. He has never felt more pain in real life or in a memory than when that monster ripped through his persona. And he's not sure it won't happen to him now if he tries to use one again. And that thing... was inside his head? Waiting to break out again? This is not what he asked for. But no one's getting that, right? So he keeps up the deadpan humor and sarcastic attitude because he has nothing else to fall back on.]

Heads up. So there's a monster summoning system that requires you to shoot yourself in the head. The same summoning system knocks you out for a week after you use it. So don't try it at home. Also, apparently I am a harp-playing robot if the "Thou art I and I am thou" thing is to be believed.

If we ever have awards, I at least want a nomination for "most unnecessary side effects to a power."

ETA: Please don't actually shoot yourself in the face. At all.

And have you considered that they cannot summon a monster with this method? Whereas you are implying they can, giving them incentive to follow your instructions and possibly kill themselves.

I babysit one of those kids. He's the one who told me how it worked. There's another kid on the network I tutor who might have the same power. And I've echoed back the names of half a dozen teenagers from my past life.

I said it so they won't. "Don't try this at home."

But this was not a conversation you could have had in private. Never mind the myriad of ways you could have...have better phrased your discovery. Perhaps for the benefit of the children who do not have similar echoes. The children who are dealing with enough stress without the added image of those in their community putting guns to their heads to access their powers.
