Who: Lily, Cherry
What: A completely, totally, coincidental run-in that one party didn't try to incite at all. Nope.
When: Friday, December 27th, mid-day
Where: A flower shop that totally isn't the third one Lily's been to that day, nope.
Warnings: Terrible awkwardness.
[Okay, so this WAS the third flower shop that Lily had been to since setting out on her shopping trip. She'd already accumulated a number of the needed supplies, but a little more towards the decorations couldn't hurt.
Right?
Flowers were nice, even if they hadn't been on Jasmine's list.
Right?
It's not like she was hoping she would randomly stumble upon some perfect stranger who might be an integral key towards discovering her past life as a magical warrior girl.
Ri-
...
It really did sound silly when she thought it out like that.
Something she very well realized only as she set foot inside this particular shop.
She should probably stop, she realized with a resigned sigh. It was going to make her look bad.
But then, she was there now. A brief look around wasn't going to hurt things.]

So Cherry had been given the responsibility of looking after the shop by herself that day. Surely it would be a completely uneventful shift, with absolutely no surprising customers walking through the door.
Yes. Surely.
So not expecting that anything was out of the ordinary at all, Cherry simply looked up when someone entered.]
Ah, um... [Right, crap, standard greeting. She always felt so awkward giving those...] Good day...
no subject
Whether or not the enthusiasm was there in that greeting, she still prepares to say hello.
But then she sees her.
And she stops cold.
Because that hollow feeling had returned, momentarily, and she remembered.
She unconsciously takes a small step forward, her greeting lost in spite of her mouth hanging open, as she otherwise just stares at her.
Well, so much for not trying to be creepy, Lily.]
no subject
Her hair color might be different, but the girl in front of her is so like the one in her memory that she, too, stares for a moment.
But for Cherry the moment passes quicker, as she snaps out of it. Realizing that she was staring, she looks away uncomfortably, not really daring to make eye contact anymore.
Nervously, she speaks up.]
U-Um... Is... Is there something I can help you with?
no subject
She recognized this girl. Somehow.
...and she recalled herself being quite cold, to an extent that it almost made her want to shudder.]
Geraniums...
[She blinks, and shakes her head. No, that's not what she was looking for.]
I- I mean, hi. Hello. I'm- I was looking for something.. uh, for a party! Right.
[Still kind of staring there.
But if she recognized this girl, in a past memory...]
no subject
[It takes Cherry a second to really process what Lily is saying, as the first bit leaves her a bit distracted. 'Geraniums', huh... Those were in her memory just now, weren't they?
But thankfully her brain catches up with her and she manages to make herself appear calm enough. She just has to act like nothing's wrong and she has years of experience with that.]
I see. I can help with that, if you want.
[Focusing on her job helps with pushing the thoughts of that memory away, thankfully.]
What kind of party is it?
no subject
Lily furrowed her brow for a moment, stopping herself from suddenly saying something stupid.
No, she just needed to.. play it cool. Because she was so totally doing such a good job of that so far.]
Ah, it's a... birthday party. A surprise one, actually - a new friend of mine has a birthday on Sunday and she's been going through a rough time lately.
[Probably too much information, she didn't ask for your life story.
Good job, Lily.]
no subject
Ah, alright. Do you have something in mind already or do you want my help with selecting flowers? If you want to handle it yourself that's fine too, of course!
no subject
That other self talked about flowers as if she knew them very well. Lily wasn't much of a stranger to them, but... not enough to be able to say the sorts of things this other person had been. She wasn't her mother, in that regard.
But then, she wasn't this other person... was she? To come across that cold and judgmental...]
Ah, help... right. Yes! Please.
[She nervously reaches up and puts a hand through her hair.]
I could definitely use some help...
[She wasn't sure she was talking about flowers anymore, for a moment.]
no subject
For a moment, she wonders if this girl also had one of those echoes. If she really is the girl from her memory and not just someone who resembles her a lot. But actually confirming that would mean bringing it up and if she's wrong, if it is just a coincidence...
No, that's much too scary.
But... she can't just leave things like this, either.]
Is... something wrong?
[That seemed like a safe enough question for now.]
no subject
She hadn't had a memory quite like this before. Besides that creature dying, they were all sort of... vague things. No faces, no names. It was the first time she could remember her... "other self" speaking, even.
This girl was definitely the same one. As she looked at her she was CERTAIN of that, and there was only one person she knew of that had been basically receiving parallel memories.
That... had to be too much of a coincidence, right? She frowned a bit.
She had to figure out... some way to do something...]
No, no... I'm fine.
[She put on a kind smile.]
I don't suppose you'd have any suggestions, ah...
[She paused.]
I'm sorry, what was your name, Miss?
[Smooth, Lily.
Smooth.
Or at least, it sure is in your mind at the time.]
no subject
Suggestions? Well, that would depend, really... like, if you have any particular colors in mind or anything.
Oh, and um... It's Cerise.
no subject
Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap.
Good job, Lily.
You did what you really wanted to do.
You stalked this poor girl down.]
Ah... well, I'm not really... sure what colors, I...
[She didn't NORMALLY have this much trouble talking to people. But this was THAT girl. The same girl with the same memories she'd been receiving. What exactly did that mean? What exactly was THIS girl's past life compared to Lily's? Were they teammates? Friends?
But now she had what was the most possible awkward situation.
Her embarrassment was pretty profound at this point, and it showed in her cheeks as she sighed, eyes shifting well away from her.]
A- actually... I should be honest... my name's Lily...
no subject
[And then suddenly Cherry's brain catches up with her and she realizes just how strange this all is. Because, um. That sure is an interesting coincidence, which means that there's pretty much no way it's a coincidence at all.]
W-Wait... Wait a second... Are you that Lily? Ah, I mean... From the network?
[Like there's any chance it's a different Lily.]
...are you really here to buy flowers?
no subject
The network... yes! Um, I mean, I...
[She adjusts her glasses, still averting her gaze and hoping to hide the embarrassment still painted on her face. She fails.]
I... did need some flowers, yes, it's just... I figured if I needed them, then, well...
no subject
And you just happened to walk into this shop in particular? That's a little convenient.
no subject
It... it is. I was just...
I DID want to pick up some flowers. It's for Winter's birthday party.
I just...
[She frowns. She wants to know. Not knowing these things, especially with what Jasmine had been seeing... It was driving her crazy.]
...I'm sorry, Cerise. I'm really out of line here.
I'll... I can leave.
no subject
It doesn't help that, in the back of her mind, she thinks that meeting Lily might be a good thing. After all, she's the one with the most matching memories, so she can't help but want a connection, somehow. It's not enough to overpower her fear of the entire situation, though.]
...no, it's... it's alright, you don't have to go.
[But it is enough for her not to send Lily away outright.]
Just... please understand how this all looks. If you did come here hoping to meet me, you could have just asked me, you know.
[And she would probably have said no, but details.]
no subject
I... can't say I expected you to say "yes." I probably wouldn't have, I just...
[She sighs and looks up, smiling a bit sadly]
I don't know what I was expecting. I don't think I'm usually this bad with people, but then most people don't share memories with me of being some sort of magical girl.
I've just been... worried about everything I've seen. And... I'm kind of worried about my sister in all of this too. I don't know what to do EXCEPT try and talk to people, and whatever we are...
We might be like Winter and Annie, but it's different on our end a bit. These... other selves had SOME sort of connection...
[She sighs.]
I just went about this in the stupidest way. I'm sorry. Really.
no subject
And... if it helps, I'm not really good with people either. And it's gotten a little worse with all these visions, so... I know how it feels.
[She adjusts her glasses a little nervously and stares at the floor.]
...It's all a little scary, isn't it? I'm not really sure how to deal with it myself.
no subject
Well. That wasn't the case here, was it? It was just ... a very unique situation that they were in. Even among those that were on the Network, no one else shared the same memories they did. So, she really wasn't sure how to approach it.
That made sense.]
It's... it's very scary, really.
[She frowns briefly.]
I don't know what's coming, and I don't know who to even trust completely, with the exception of a few people... but...
[She then attempts a small smile.]
I like to hope that... with all of this, and all of us, it's maybe a little less scary when you've got some people to rely on.
no subject
[She smiles slightly, looking up again.]
I know that having someone you care about involved too is worrying, but I think you're lucky, to have someone so close to you that you can confide in. That means you're less alone right away.
[She doesn't say it, but she wishes she had someone like that herself.]
no subject
While this girl, on the other hand... clearly didn't seem to know anyone involved in this.]
Right, safety in numbers, and...
[She taps her fingers together a bit.]
I know you've just met or started to talk to all of us, but... If there's ever anything you need to confide in, I- I mean, we'd be... happy to, as well...
Winter and Annie are really nice, and... just, well...
[She puts hand through her hair a bit nervously. It wasn't as bad as before, but she is far more nervous about all this than she thought she would have been.]
We're all in this together, like it or not... right?
no subject
...yeah, I guess we are. I'll try to keep that in mind.
Um... thanks.
no subject
[She looks away a bit, uncertain.]
You and I are connected, somehow, differently. Or at least these other lives were. That feels like it's important, but...
[She sighs, and looks back.]
You seem like a nice person, and I realize this is the worst way possible to start things off, but... If I'm going to know someone, I don't want it to just be out of obligation. Those other selves matter, but who we are now matters more, doesn't it? I'd like to think I'm not, say, friends with Winter now just because of all this, but it's...
Heh, I guess more like a common ground to start with.
