Who: Bakura & Randolph/Randall Lyall
Where: Locke High, Mr. Lyall's class
When: 7th period. [around 2pm]
One of the many advantages to being suddenly able to use one's notebook to chat with people was that no teacher could frown at you and tell you to put it away when you were using it in class. Not that many teachers bothered trying to stop anyone from using their phones in class any more, but it was a nice sort of insurance.
Especially in math class. He was pretty sure he never had to worry about his tests in that class again as long as those numbers still worked~
Keeping a close eye on the bell he waited until just the right time to swiftly write out first his number, then Mr. Lyall's before writing a quick message.
'Still think it's a prank?'
He added a winking smiley face flashing a victory sign for good measure, just as the bell rang. Hopefully Mr. Lyall would have his network connection open, else the effect would be lost.

He dismissed the class, unable to miss the fact that Bakura wasn't leaving, and went to check the laptop. Yup. There it was. He sighed a bit, running a hand over his slightly-mussed hair. "I don't know what to think, Bakura."

Plus, you know, discovering little flying insect people tended to make one wonder a bit.
So he looked a little harried, and no little worried, as he answered, "Something, all right, though I couldn't tell you what it is. Are you all right? Haven't run into any trouble since yesterday?"

And he had been far too wrapped up in it all to notice anything else strange. Hard to notice the freaky looking not!cat stalking you when you were busy texting or playing a video game on your phone anyway.

That sounded like the most inane advice ever, but he could hardly explain it to himself, let alone a boy who would assume they were aliens or fae sprites or some such nonsense. Even if that wound up being what they were, he didn't really want poor Bakura more excited than he already was.
((how recently has that cat been following him?))

The teen paused, blinking. "A dandelion...?" Where there any of those out yet? No, the grass was still brown in places, no way there'd be any flowers yet, not even those weeds.
((and it trailed him most of the way to school that morning.))

"Yes, a dandelion. The little bits of fluff that they make when they go all white? If you see any, about so big--" Lyall held his fingers a couple inches apart. "--steer clear. All right? Promise me?"
He knew it was a lot to ask of a teenage boy, but he needed that promise. Especially if he was smelling a hint of what he thought he was smelling.

Bakura made a face. "...one of your experiments get loose?" he asked, tone flat, picturing some chemical fluffs escaping from a broken test tube, flying away cackling like something out of

"Haha." There wasn't really any humor in that, just a little tired sarcasm. "No. I wish it were." Lyall scrubbed at his eyes with his thumb and forefinger. "It is something I saw last night, when I met with another fellow I spoke to over this network. I think it may be dangerous, and I am fairly sure there are more of them."

And heck, dub version Bakura never gets a first name :D]]
That got Bakura's attention and the levity in his face faded almost instantly. "...Something to do with what's happening? Maybe what caused it?"
Since it wasn't a meteor. He'd checked.

"You never promised," he reminded the boy sternly. "I know you find this exciting, but I would be-- very unhappy if anything happened to you through all right. All right?"
no subject
Not that that would stop him if he did spot one, of course. But he's not thinking anything like that right now.
no subject
"All right. So long as you're careful. I don't even know yet how many of these others are trustworthy in any capacity... my previous students, I'm sure, but the others? We know nothing about them. Or very little, at any rate."
no subject
"Chris, I know. She's been my math tutor since before I started high school," he pointed out. "Who are the others you know?"
no subject
He glanced at the clock, but it looked like they had time still. This was a longer break.
"All adults, as far as I could tell, aside from you and the other student."
I also made out Bakura's schedule. He has study hall this period. So if Lyall has a prep period...:)

"In video games and television shows, maybe," Lyall said with rather obvious disapproval. "I'm not entirely sure who would want to summon teenage boys to something potentially dangerous, here and now." Nor, obviously, did he approve of it. That might disappoint Bakura, but Lyall did not trust anything that expected maturity and efficacy from someone still in the midst of puberty. He worked with these kids every day, and most of them were about as likely to safe the world as he was.

"Not just video games. In everything, even myths and legends. Strange happenings are always the start of coming of age stories. You don't get those very much with adults. Adults get epics, and most of those are war stories," Bakura pointed out reasonably.

"...you didn't say anything about that before."

He trailed off, lost in thought. There was a manga like this, wasn't there? A few of them, actually...

For now, he offered, "Do you want to sit through my next class in here?" He was pretty sure Bakura had study period now, so it shouldn't be a problem.
He's that frustrating type of student who gets 100s on tests and 0s on homework ;)
Lyall hates that :| he's not going to get good grades in his class like that!
I had guessed he'd have an 85. Shall I bus that down to a 70 then? :) He's smart, just unmotivated
let's go with 75? Lyall doesn't even care if the homework is wrong, so long as it's DONE X3
It's the being done that doesn't happen :D
yup, which is Lyall's problem X3 also, psst, biology XD
oh goddamnit I did it again LOL Just... every time I write chem, replace with Bio :D
it's okay, I liked chem better, too XD
