[Oh hey, Thomas is still around and, oh lord is he on the network out in public?]

Hello everyone. I was feeling a bit under the weather these last few weeks, but I could never leave you all waiting. So yes, I am perfectly fine and back to my people.

[To anyone paying attention, they'd realize that he's in the park near Candy's bakery. They would also notice that Thomas' hair might have gotten lighter? It looks like there's one or two blonde hairs sticking out of his hair. Must be a trick of the light of a bit of gold streamer or something.]

Now don't worry, I typed my number into Skype so this ought to seem nice and normal to anyone not in our club sneaking a peek. So tell me everyone, how are all of you amid our little group's usual chaos?

[From the quiet hissing and echoey tone to her voice, it's clear Candy has ducked into the bathroom to hide and respond.]

Uh! Thomas! Should you really be talking to the network while out in public? What if a cop sees you!

Ah such concern. Don't you worry, I'll be fine. As if I would be caught so unawares.

[Yes he totally would be.]

That reminds me, aren't I near your bakery? Recovered from that deer yet?

Uh--yeah, I'm fine, cleaned everything up, but--seriously, you really shouldn't be out in public talking about this stuff! The cops are seriously going to try and kill you if they see you! Here, just--yeah, I recognize that building behind you, just come to my cafe, at least then you're not yelling about all this in public...

Very well, if you're so concerned I may as well.

[Thomas had apparently been on a park bench since it's in the background as he walks toward the bakery. He hasn't stopped talking into the phone though. It's mostly just idle commentary before he walks into the bakery with the most smug look he can seemingly manage.]

[She makes sure to ask Sandra for a break while he's on his way, muting her phone for good measure. Oh God why does he keep talking what's wrong with him? He seemed nice and reasonable and chipper the times she's talked to him before, but now he just seems reckless and kind of crazy.]

[As soon as he comes in and is still talking, she grabs him--not hard, just firmly--and tugs him to a corner table where there's no one around.]

So...okay, what were we talking about? And--keep your voice down!

[Thomas sighs and dusts off where she grabbed him as he moves to sit down.]

The last time we spoke, it was about memories that weren't yours. While I was on my way here it was about how I had made an amazing discovery about a member of our network thanks to memories I've been gaining that aren't mine.

I know I'm amazing, but the pulling and grabbing was a bit much.

[She huffs.] Well, I'm sorry I grabbed you, but I already got attacked by a deer infested with aliens, so I'd rather not also have evil cops knocking the windows down.

Anyway...you got an echo? What was it about?

[What? Apologize for nearly causing evil cops to raid the store? Nope.]

It was about angels. I was suspicious when I realized one of them looked like someone else in our little group. Then I remembered that he got an echo back in the mine cave-in. It was exactly a weapon carried by one of the angels in my new memories. So, long story short, I have discovered an angel in the secret numbers club.

You...discovered an angel? [That's literally the only thing she's getting from this.] So...angels are real? Or...they were real, or are real somewhere else, or however all this works... That's pretty cool, though.

Yes, yes it is. Well, technically he's a trainee angel, but I'd say that's good enough.

The thing to do now is just wait for him to remember more. His job was to defend Earth from un-earthly threats after all.

That's...well, that's pretty neat, actually. And if he's supposed to defend Earth then he can definitely help us! That's great!

[A car passes by outside, and the light reflecting off its windows flashes on an odd string standing up from Thomas's head. She glances up and frowns slightly. Some kind of stray hair or something maybe.]

What I'm trying to figure out, is why I know that. What reason do I have to know someone is an angel?

[Thomas sighs and runs a hand through his hair, the string not moving as his hand passes by it.]

I mean, I'm an engineer, but raw intelligence doesn't have much to do with angels.

Well, I thought...someone told you they were an angel. Or you mean, you just suddenly know? [She notices how the string doesn't move. Hmmmm.]

Yes. I got the knowledge from one of my echos. The person not only looks the same, but they have the same name and they now even have some very specific items on them. I am sure they're an angel.

Oh, okay. Well maybe you should talk to this person, then.

I have been. They just aren't sure. I am though. I suppose I just need to give them time to remember. Sadly, I haven't seen a single one of their teammate's among us, so I guess the rest of us aren't angels.

Heh, I don't know if that's a relief or a shame. [She glances at his head again.] Hey, you've got like a stray hair or something... [She points.]

Well, I just wish I knew what all of this was about. Maybe if I knew where all these memories and things were coming from I'd have a better idea. Oh?

[He reaches up and ruffles his hair before looking to Candy. It was still there.]

It gone?

Yeah, it really seems like no one knows much about what's going on. We're just rolling with the punches I guess.

Yeah, I think it's--no wait, it's still there. It's like a cobweb or something. Here, let me just... [She leans across the table and grabs the string between her fingers. She tugs but nothing happens.]

Huh, it's really stuck on there.

It's all quite strange. Everyone seems to be getting different things mostly, there are a couple people getting similar echos, but that's about it.

[Thomas leans forward so she can reach it, but just sort of moves up a bit as she tugs.]

Well, it didn't hurt. I definitely felt that pull though.

Yeah. It'd be nice if there was some consistency.

[She frowns vaguely.] Weird. It's just kinda sticking straight up. You didn't get an echo that involved weird hairs stuck to your head, did you?

No. The one about angels gave me some information on the side effects on getting mermen scales on you, but oddly firm hairs in outside of my sphere of experience.
