So, now that I ain't as freaked out about things anymore, I just wanna ask...

I've got the claws and the changing eyes and the bizarro vampire thing, but I think I'm also faster, stronger and generally harder to kill than before, right? Basically I've been busier than a cat burying shit on a marble floor trying to figure all of this out, so far... well, I can jump like anything. And you know, I've been able to hang upside down on a pole for quite some time, but now I don't even break a sweat doing it. Almost broke the pole with the nails once, though.

[He seems to realize he's babbling, and laughs.]

Anyway, anyone who's been changing in weird ways up for sharing? Especially people who've... you know, gotten weird boosts or super powers or whatever? I kinda grew up with comics, so it's kinda fascinating to me, you know?

Or don't, that's fine with me too. Not everyone's into the sharing, right?

Also, uh... I know people got hurt and all what with that mine and everything, but... everyone's alright by now, right? I think I woulda heard if anyone died, just wanted to ask, 'cause... well, just 'cause. [Because he's claustrophobic and thinking about mines collapsing has given him nightmares.]

Oh, and to anyone new here... Fay's the name, hope y'all ain't too freaked out about all the weirdness yet, 'cause I bet it's gonna get worse.

[And with that cheerful message, he rubs out the numbers from his mirror for now.]

[He hesitates for a moment, but then just kind of shrugs to himself.]

Yes, love, I'm a stripper. That's kind of part of the job.

[Totally does not make a strangled horrified noise here. Nope, he'll never admit it. Clears his throat and decides to ignore the answer. Because he does not want to talk about stuff like that! Geez, the one time he'd have been okay to have his age taken into account . . .

[Yeah, no. Topic switch!] I wound up with some power that might or might not be teleportation.

[This is a much better subject to discuss. Much better.]

[Look, kid, he was just being direct. He doesn't see why just knowing someone is a stripper is so bad, that's all he's saying. So he sounds a little bit amused when he replies.]

Teleportation, you say? Now that's pretty interesting. Not sure how it hangs together with the ice power thing... but then again, I ain't sure what chocolate fondants has to do with vampirism either.

[Hey, he's still at that age where anything like that is gross, okay?]

Might be. I'm not sure if it really is, or I'm just moving really fast. But apparently it looks like teleporting to other people.

Huh. Well, I guess if you move quick enough, it would, right? Only so much the eye can catch, after all. Anyhow, that can probably come in real handy, right?

Can you do that weird walking on air pole routine? [because that is so cool and he would really love to see it]

[There is a brief pause, and then he's laughing.]

Well yes, I can, though I'm not sure how good I am at it. It's not something I do that often when I work.

Seeing that one always makes me wanna try it.

Well, it is a lot of fun if you ask me, even if you don't do it professionally. [He chuckles.] Maybe I should give network lessons. That would probably really unnerve some people.

What? No private lessons?

[In the background you can definitely hear someone going "No!", and Fay laughs.]

I think the boyfriend is a little bit opposed to that idea.

[Shou laughs along with since he had been joking/flirting a little but didn't mean any true harm.]

Ahh, a pity. Oh well, I guess I will have to suffer.

[Fay is grinning widely too, clearly ignoring the boyfriend off-screen who seems to be muttering something.]

I hate so see a good-looking man suffer, you know, but we all have sacrifices to make.

[Shou is also ignoring the muttering off screen in order to sigh dramatically.]

So true. I suppose I will have to make do.

I'm guessing you didn't see me teeth fall out on camera.

Well, I can say that I've picked up the most curious cravings for - "human food." [Brief cheerily squealing whinny.] And I can finally see why you humans seem to get so very excited about cake.

[He laughs approvingly, nodding.]

Well, cake is just about one of the best things about being human. Or an enlightened horse, of course! [A beat.] Ah, but... where did you get it from, if you don't mind me asking? I mean, it's probably a bit hard to attempt to bake with hooves.

Dear, you haven't met the bakers yet? [Bit of bemusement.] It was a "favor" of theirs. Why, they even brought me a batch of carrot cupcakes to sample for good measure, with little caramel apple slices on top, simply marvelous!

Ahhh, I see. That was very nice of them, I have to say. It's good that there are some people around here that don't burn boiling water, at least. [A rueful little laugh.] And that does sound heavenly. A bit different from what you're used to, right?

Quite -- and it's all simply done by mixing food with other kinds of food; no?

[High-pitched "Mm!"] Simply magical.

Mm, that's about as much as I understand about cooking anyway. Except for chocolate fondants, that's probably all I'll ever get. So yes, it's kind of like a sort of magic that people actually manage.

Oh -- you can make chocolate fondant?

[Conversationally. That sounds lovely, indeed. Still even with her lack of knowledge on actual cooking that specialization sounds odd.] ...And nothing else?

[That actually makes him giggle, and he scratches his forehead a bit sheepishly.] Well, you see, I didn't used to be able to cook anything at all, but then one of those silly little memory-flashes happened, and now I can make chocolate fondants to die for.

...superpowers?

All I got so far is some weird flashes of some kind of war and a bunch of names. [Linda pouts at this, then huffs.] I feel kinda hosed now.

Well, that's how it started for me too. Chocolate fondants, and a book, and a bunch of nicknames and stuff about weird creatures. Completely random stuff, right? And then, bam, vampire. [A pause.] Though hopefully that won't happen to you, because it hurt like you wouldn't believe.

Ahaha... Rather hopeful that I don't wind up like that, either, as I rather like going outside during the day.

What? Oh no, I can definitely be out in sunlight. And I've been to church and even touched a few crosses, and nothing seemed to happen. And if garlic killed me, I would've known by now.

Guess that old phrase of 'reality is stranger than fiction' is ringing true in an odd way, then.

Then again, why would fictional portrayals of something fantastic match it if it came to be?

Mm, I suppose in a way the only thing that makes a vampire a vampire is the drinking blood, right? Everything else is really just... details. Including the weaknesses, thankfully.

Well, I'm pretty sure I picked up some kinda martial arts skill or something, because my reflexes definitely weren't that good before the whole mine disaster.

And I'm in the best shape of my life all of a sudden. I dunno if that counts, though. It's kinda weak on the scale of weird and unnatural crap that's been happening to us.

Hey, don't say that! I think that's pretty damn neat. Like, you know, getting an actual proper skill instead of all this weird stuff that we barely know how to control or what to do with. Plus, free fitness ain't something to turn up your nose at. [He almost adds "especially at your age" but then... doesn't. He possesses at least that much tact.]

Heh. I guess it's useful, if not exciting.

[It is nice to know he has something to fall back on next time he runs out of bullets. But he's totally stocking up for the next time they investigate something, okay.

Least it'll get me off my ass and doing something useful with my free time, if I gotta work out more to stay like this?

Well, ain't nothing wrong with sounding like your mom every now and again. Moms are usually pretty sensible.

[He grins, shrugging easily.]

And so far I've actually gotten used to that weird skill of turning most things into weapons - and the ability to make chocolate fondants, so I'd say just 'cause it ain't supernatural don't mean it ain't useful.

"Vampire stripper" is a kink for someone, somewhere out there.

Probably in Japan.

[That sets off a long peal of laughter.]

Well, my boyfriend is half Japanese, so maybe there's something he hasn't told me...

Oh fuck. Now you HAVE to ask. What if you're just his dream come true? Like, really?

Well, he does know that I'm a stripper - that's how I met him - and he knows about the vampirism too, so you think I'd've noticed by now, right? That, or he's just very good at hiding it from me.
