Who: Phillip and OPEN
What: Phillip takes his dog for a walk! Sort of.
Where: The park
When: Sunday morning, June 23

Pharos always liked taking Gloria for walks, especially when he got to do it himself. Locke City was still a city, after all, and his parents weren't always the most comfortable letting their ten year old son wander the streets. But this time, he got the ok to take his dog to the park.

For most of the way to the park, Gloria padded alongside the boy, a leash being held but honestly it didn't really look like it was needed- and Phillip might not have been able to hold her back. But, once they get to the park, people might see that, or they might see Phillip sitting on his dog's back as she trots around.

"Wow, Arizona?" That's... way farther than Phillip's ever been. "What was that like?" Different he can definitely understand.

"It was very dusty there," Selene says after a few seconds of thinking about it. "There was a lot of sand, and different types of plants. Cacti, mostly, and creosote too. Desert plants. It wasn't as green as it is out here, and it was a lot hotter." She looks at him curiously. "Have you ever left the city?"

"Wow..." This is clearly fascinating to Phillip. "Not really. I think we went to an amusement park once when I was little, and we go to visit my grandparents sometimes, but we mostly just stay here."

"I see. But that has its charms too, doesn't it?" She smiles and reaches out to pet Gloria again if the dog will let her. "Where do your grandparents live?"

Gloria is loving all the attention she's getting today. "Um, I don't remember the name. But it's only like an hour away when Dad drives. And we don't really get to see much other than their house."

That was what happened when a dog as cute as Gloria was taken for a walk! It got attention.

"Oh... I see." She guesses that makes sense. It's not like she really remembers the names of places she'd visit when she was his age. "Do you like it here in the city?"

Phillip nods a little. "Yea, I guess so. Sometimes I wish we could see more other places, but it's nice here. Do you like it? Since you're new here and everything."

"It is nice here," Selene agrees with an easy smile. "It's different but nice. There's some strange things going on but I think I like it."

"Strange things..." The only 'strange things' Phillip knows about are the numbers club, and that's pretty strange. But everyone said he shouldn't mention that to people in real life unless he knew they knew about it, so... he didn't say anything, just occupying himself with petting his dog again.

The look on her face becomes concerned when Phillip gets quiet. She didn't think that what she said would have affected him that much. Unless he's involved in them somehow? She'll have to see if he is.

"Yes... like the thing with the mine. That was strange, wasn't it? I heard a little bit about it. It sounded scary."

"Yea, it did." Phillip... didn't remember if that was on the news or not. It probably did, with people being inside when it collapsed, but he didn't remember. He ventures a glance up at her. "Do you, um... do you know anything about what happened?"

"I don't know very much about it," Selene admits as she brings a hand up to fiddle with the collar of her shirt, "But I heard there were people who went inside and found, um... a Sage...?"

She thinks that's the word that was used, anyway. "...and shortly after they started remembering things they didn't remember before, or they found items they didn't have before..."

"You heard about that?" Phillip moves a little closer, trying to make sure no one else is paying attention. "Do you have a number too?"

She nods and looks off to the side to make sure that no one's listening in. It doesn't seem like it, so she follows up with, "Yes... oh, thank goodness. I thought I was going crazy the first time I wrote it down and saw all that stuff... How long has it been going on for you?"

"Um... I guess a month or so. Not very long." Phillip leads Gloria to a slightly less crowded area, hoping Selene will follow. "How about you?"

"A few days," Selene says quietly as she follows the boy and his dog. "It started not too long after I moved here... Is there something weird in the water here, or something like that?"

"I don't think so... It just starting happening to people a few months ago, I think. But you should talk to people on the network, they're really nice and helpful! Well, most of them." There were a couple of people he hadn't talked to on purpose.

"You think so? Maybe I will..." Selene isn't sure about talking to strangers on the network. It's easy enough when she can see them but there's something unsettling about only seeing words. Maybe she'll stick to audio and video posts... "Is there anyone I should avoid?"

"Um..." Phillip thought about this, frowning. "I've seen a couple of people that I just don't talk to 'cause they seem mean, but everyone I've talked to has been nice. I don't know he names of the people I don't talk to, though."

"Oh, okay..." Selene looks thoughtful for a second before she nods. "I'll keep an eye out for people who seem mean and try to avoid them too then." She looks curiously at Phillip. "Hey, do you mind if I ask how old you are? You seem really mature, so I'm guessing... maybe about fifteen or sixteen?"

She knows he's younger than her but she's just trying to make sure he doesn't think she's treating him like a kid.

Phillip is... a little surprised she guessed that old. A few people here and there have guessed he was in middle school, but never that old. "I'm ten!" he ends up saying, smiling a little and trying not to look too pleased at how old she thought he was, "What about you?"

"Wow, ten? I never would have guessed that!" Selene says with a giggle. She looks sufficiently surprised. "I'm fourteen. Fifteen soon, but only fourteen for now."

"Wow." That just make him even happy at how old she thought he was! "What's your name, by the way? I'm Phillip."

"Oh, right. I forgot to introduce myself, sorry. I'm Selene!" She smiles and offers him her hand. "It's nice to meet you, Phillip."

"It's nice to meet you too, Selene!" Phillip moved Gloria's leash to his other hand before shaking Selene's. "I'm glad I know someone else who knows what's going on now..."
