The Central info post

Description: The first spaceships get through... and strangely enough they land only inside echo boundaries, disappearing somewhere in the Mesosphere and reappearing about ten kilometres above ground. They always operate in exactly the same way: They bomb an area to clear it and then land their spaceship to release roughly a hundred soldiers (they look like humans).

Each group of soldiers is equipped with extremely technically advanced equipment and on top of that has one super power - one could also say that it are all groups of 100 clones of the same person. The super powers range from telekinesis to the control of an element to telepathy and so on, but each soldier only has one. They are stronger than grinches - basically, your character will have trouble with them no matter what their powers are. They are not stormtroopers, they are darth vaders, so to speak. That said, they can be taken down, it will just be hard. A numbered with special talents will find that the troops communicate and will send in an unit that is equipped to handle that specific talent (f.ex: Against a very fast giant, they'll call people who can catch and keep him in place with telekinesis). So no super power works eternally, and they'll have to retreat and do quick surprise attacks on groups that can't hurt them once they've been figured out by the Enemy's troops.

According to what so far has been submitted about numbered battle power, plans and such, the following picture can be painted:

At first, they will land in the areas where the resident Animal was killed or is out of commission: Locke City, Las Vegas and Christmas Island.
Locke City: Due to the fairly high number of numbered defenders, the city will remain in numbered/human hands. It will however suffer heavy destruction. Locke City will be heavily damaged by secure, being entirely defended by numbered and unnumbered humans.
Las Vegas: Due to the in comparison much lower number of numbered defenders, Las Vegas will fall. If numbered decide to turn the mountain and its insides into a fortress, that will hold and be able to shelter pretty much the whole population of Las Vegas and surroundings. The Enemy's troops will slowly start to spread from Las Vegas and conquer the surrounding areas. Las Vegas and Western North America (USA/Mexico) will be destroyed and fallen.
Christmas Island: Due to the low number of defenders, Enemy soldiers will quickly get a hold of the island... until Julien destroys the glass cage over the central Mushroom. As soon as that has happened, the mushroom will put spores into the air that take root in the enemy soldiers' brains and make them fight all further invaders, also following those who have started to cross the ocean to Indonesia and further. Christmas Island & South East Asia will thus be damaged but secure, being entirely defended by the Mushroom.

Once it is clear that Las Vegas is falling, which will be around noon GMT, the Enemy's troops will start to land in areas where the Animal was weakened: Lapland, Santarem, Neuschwanstein, London. In all these areas, the Animal itself will fight, but it will require numbered assistance. Local military and police will help out with fighting enemy soldiers inside and outside of the echo boundaries.
Santarem: The Swarm (literally a swarm of dragonflies) can hold the area, but a couple of troops manage to sneak past them and start to go on a rampage in South America. Local military and the American military that just invaded Brazil itself will cease their hostilities and turn on those new invaders instead. They can for the most part take care of the alien invaders, but there'll be some destruction. South America is damaged but fairly secure.
Lapland: A good number of santas has been killed at the beginning of the year and there are very few numbered there, so while the enemy can be kept at bay, troops still manage to sneak past them (and the horned giant Animal that will rise from the ice to defend the area). Mostly, they wander into Russia, but a few also head down into southern Finland and into Scandinavia. Again, the local militaries will take care of the enemy soldiers fairly well - they mostly aim to capture and not kill, though, so a number of aliens will be in prison around Norway, Sweden and Finland after this. Northern/Eastern Europe is damaged but fairly secure.
Neuschwanstein is in a fairly similar position, with a number of wolpertingers and doppelgängers having died for various reasons or being caught in other echo boundaries/the ghost zone (though all will attempt to return to the Neuschwanstein Area for this. Including those that are ghosts now) and few numbered fighting there. Due to the higher population and country density in the area, there will be more casualties but the surrounding militaries will also manage to contain the danger more quickly. South/Middle Europe is damaged but fairly secure.
London: Cousin Itt will completely take over the underground and parts of the ground - no enemy soldier will manage to leave the area. But that means that the hair can do less about the soldiers that land in the city itself, so they will for the most part be up to numbered to fight - they could of course just give up the whole city, but giving up a capital...? England will be secure, but London itself will be heavily damaged.

In the areas where the Animal remains unharmed, which are Tokyo and the Galapagos Islands, the Animals will be able to take care of the invaders alone, but everything that is there can be damaged in the process. So Tokyo and the Galapagos Islands are secure but damaged, yet the area around them is unharmed

A special area to defend is space. People can decide to assist Jörmungandr with battling the spaceships, but they have to watch out for the serpent so it doesn't trash them in its trashing. At least there are no civilians here?

What this day is for: This day is for fighting, evacuating, helping and organizing. This is the pure battle day, basically; non-combatans have plenty to do with trying to get civilians to safe places, providing medical aid, coordinating things, getting supplies from one echo boundary to the other, getting in trouble... what have you.

How this works:

- Day 2 will have alien encounters. Please NPC these aliens yourself but keep in mind the following: 1. The aliens are strong. They are Darth Vaders, not Stormtroopers, and will give your character trouble. 2. They land in groups of hundred, and like acting as a group to make winning easier on themselves. All aliens in a group have the same one superpower - this power can be pretty much anything, from telepathy through telekinesis to controlling elements, or whatever else you can come up with. 3. If you have any questions, please as them here!
- Space is now an available echo boundary. Just make sure to not fly too low, you don't want to be at 10% of your echoes mid-air, after all...
- There will be no toplevels on this post. Please start your own threads freely! Please format the subject line like this: "Location(s)/Network | ota/closed/etc". Please keep in mind that each character may change location twice per day (= a maximum of three different locations) and that the moon/space location is still off limits on the 1st Day.
- This post can be used for both network and action threads.
- Keep in mind that returnee characters must have checked in and must request their echoes if they get any.
- Please direct all questions to this thread on the General Invasion Guide
- For the returnee registration, please go here.

[A | Locke City: Winter and Lily's house, and working outward from there | dawn]
[She hadn't slept well. Which made sense; Winter was more than a little worried about what was going to happen. She had trusted friends watching her back and her team's; her team themselves were already aware of what was going on and prepared to do what needed to be done; Lily was keeping Winter herself as calm and motivated as possible. But even with all of that, this is an invasion. Things are going to go wrong, in grand form. If Winter herself isn't at the top of her game, someone's going to get hurt. Someone's going to die. She'll lose her home, her friends, her life, her everything. This is the fight of her life, and she can't afford to be anything less than perfect-

The roar of a massive explosion rocks the neighborhood, rattling the windows. In a flash, Winter rockets up from her bed, another second passing as she transforms, throwing the door open, expecting the worst.

Her fears are confirmed when she sees the massive plume of smoke rising, not far away, and she realizes something huge is touching down. She can just see it from where she stands: a massive, shiny silver ship, landing gear deployed, and a cargo ramp folding out. And on the ramp... humanoids. Suits of armor, coming down the ramp with disheartening precision, seemingly armed. Rather than starting to scream and panic right away, Winter marshals herself into calm, sneaking toward the landing site without a word. Every nerve in her body is telling her to strike now, hard and fast, but she fights the urge. If she does that, and her alpha strike isn't enough to take down the entire group, she's going to have company. What looks like dozens of people are coming off that ship in a hurry, and she has no desire to fight them all in one mob.

The soldiers fan out, looking for anything they can find that's worth taking out, any threats to neutralize, as they break into smaller and smaller groups. By the time they're at the edge of the crater, they've broken into squads of only a few. She's still not entirely sure she can take them, and certainly not if they're in close contact, but... she has to try. This is her world at stake, here, and-

It's so horribly cliche that it'll make her mad later, but Diamond's step comes down hard on a branch, and it snaps in two. That gets the attention of one of the soldiers, who immediately looks in Diamond's direction, waves a hand, and charges at her. As she notices, she swears, and shouts for Moonlight. At that point, she bolts away from them as fast as she can, hoping to get some distance between this group and the rest of the ship's complement before she engages.

Over the next few hours, Winter spreads out to other places in the city, wearing an earpiece so she can stay in touch with the network while she's away. She'll be working hard to help anyone she comes by, and if she gets word someone needs some help - or she sees well-timed explosions anywhere in the city - she'll be there. She isn't totally unscathed as she goes, but it's enough that she's still more than functional from fight to fight. Mostly.]

[B | network: voice | mid-morning]
[Some time passes. Winter's never been more frustrated, or more exhausted, in her whole life than now. Except maybe during the earthquake. Or Wise Snake. Or... actually, no, she's been frustrated quite often in the last couple years.

What matters now, though, is that she's having to fight against enemies that are, quite simply, better than her. She can't keep, not alone. Things are... going to turn into a royal mess. And if it's this bad here, where there are dozens of Numbered to turn the tide... what's it like elsewhere? Does anyone else even know? She's tired, but she has to make sure everyone's safe.]

I'm sure everyone knows this already, but... we're under attack. The ships the massive snake has been hunting have snuck a few units into the atmosphere, and they've started to release soldiers onto the planet. They're... strong. Scary strong, and they seem to have varied abilities. I don't know how we're going to do this, but... we have to. If we don't fight these enemies off, we're going to die. We'll lose our homes, our entire world. And I refuse to let these bastards come down here and-

[She stops, taking a deep breath and calming down a little bit.] I refuse to let them take our home from us without a fight. It's showtime, and we're going to have to put on the performance of our lives. We have to work together, or we'll fall alone. Don't get in over your head - if we fight in groups, we can make a difference. It's all going to come down to our synergy, and our bonds, and a hell of a lot of luck.

So... please, if you're fighting, if you're hurt, if you're worried, let us know. Let me know. We can't do this by ourselves. But together, we can turn this around, and make them regret trying to take our world. This is our Earth. Let's kick them off, once and for all.

[It's not like Lily's technically been faring much better. The worry is almost insurmountable. She honestly didn't sleep the whole night - trying to keep in contact with the people she could. Watching the skies. She knew some small amount of rest was necessary, needed for what's coming but... it was all too much.

As such, when it comes the next morning... she's not surprised. Not even remotely. As she becomes Cure Moonlight, she knows she's not leaving that form for a long time - she enters this the same as Diamond does. At the first contact and shout for her, she's at her fiancee's side immediately.]

Winter!

Cure Diamond!

[Cologne is of course, right behind her, and for just a moment she stops cold. The sight of that, of what they have to now face, and knowing this... is only a small part of it.

It's only a moment though, and she's soon following.]

...we need to get everyone together. Now.

[Whether Jasmine slept well or not was immaterial; superhuman invulnerability and strength came with mad endurance. So when the dawn came, and the explosions came with them, so did Jasmine, clad in the full regalia of Cure Twilight.

Finding Winter and Lily just as things were getting started was easy. No sooner than did Lily talk about getting everyone together did Jasmine land beside her, quietly for once]

Well... here's one of us.

[and she was reasonably quiet for once. This was an improvement.]

[ Marina did manage a little sleep, enough that she wouldn't be passing out, though only out of sheer exhaustion from helping out with the relief effort the day before. Of course she slept at the house with the rest of them, and while she had plans to get out there and use her power on its own, she started off playing catch up.

Armored up and with sword in hand, she follows the Precure, a hand on her hip. ]

Present. Hopefully ready, too.

[She's running away.

It galls her, that she's not standing to fight. But alone, she's not going to be able to face all of these things, and she's got too much to do to just lay down and die. Moonlight's a welcome addition, and Twilight and Marina showing up after brings her mood up a little. Just having three of her precious teammates and friends with her gives her a little more hope that things will be okay, somehow. And, despite herself, she smiles as her steps carry her just a little bit further.]

Okay, that's... four. Historically, that means we can deal with almost anything short of an Animal. So these goons shouldn't be a problem, right?

[Digging her heels into the ground, Diamond screeches to a stop and spins around, letting the unknowns keep coming toward her. As much as she doesn't want to fight here, there really isn't a good place to fight...She gets a little more serious as she comes around, looking to her friends again.]

Everything starts here... everyone ready? We'll take our city back, with our own hands!
alilyinthemoonslight: (Moonlight - Moon Tact!)

[personal profile] alilyinthemoonslight 2015-05-11 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Moonlight lets out a breath, but it's hardly much relief. She finds her place at Diamond's side, nodding to the arrival of Jasmine and Marina.

Somewhere, deep down... these aren't people she wants to see fighting. To see being put in danger. They're the very last people she wants to see in this sort of situation. They're her family, or people who will be, if she has anything to say about it.

Yet, at the same time... She has the utmost faith in them, and trusts them to watch her back no matter what. It's something she's come to terms with, even if the danger now seems far more real and raw than ever before.

This is it.

This is what they had gained these powers for.

It's time to use them.]

Our city, and our planet.

[Materializing her Moon Tact, she grips it tight, reading the situation. Yuri used to be good at doing this, she senses, and through both echoes and experience, Lily's not been much of a slouch in that area either.] Jasmine! Attack with me, we'll hit them with blunt force from our Forte Waves, and...

[Her eyes flicker to the other two.] I'm thinking we can come up with some creative ways to mash ice and water abilities together, right?

[Either way, they're close. Way too close, and something needs to happen. Thus, she takes aim at the nearest of the approaching enemies. The crystal of her Tact shines, and without waiting for confirmation, she strikes.]

Precure! Silver Forte Wave!
jasminebloominginshadow: (dark power)

[personal profile] jasminebloominginshadow 2015-05-11 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[compared to Winter and Lily, there's a part of Jasmine that wants to fight - that has always wanted to fight. A part of her that wanted to direct the pain she felt inside outward.

But that pain has since been quelled. The darkness of her previous self's past... her own insecurities. They've been dealt with. That just leaves the anger and protectiveness she feels for her home. Her loved ones. The person she's promised to spend her life with.]

You don't need to tell me twice! [Jasmine cried out as she summoned her Dark Tact, which she leveled in the same direction as Lily did]

DARK FORTE WAVE!
