Exploring the ghost zone is great. It's a weird and new place and a certain set of siblings is having a field trip. Most of the time, they're together, but sometimes they split up or one of them goes alone.

They peek out through almost all doors that they find, unless Nat's Force senses tell her that something bad is behind the door (and then sometimes Fe opens it anyway). Maybe they look out at a street where your character is just standing, but maybe they open a door right into their bedroom too, or something else entirely...

"I think I would remember if I hadn't locked the door. When I have an exhibition I try to make things more exciting," she informs him as she starts to blot the sweat from her brow. "Give me an actual answer, please."

She's not going to comment on her focus yet.

"I assume that we're talking about different doors. The one through which I came is there." He nods into the direction of the closet. There's definite upsides to being caught by numbered instead of normal people. You can tell them things.

Her eyebrow raises still farther. "You have another way of getting around. That would be that 'warp hole' business?"

"Doors to a different dimension, rather. Warp hole is only a terminology to make it sound cool." And Nat is not cool. She's his sister.

"You don't approve?" Gwyneth asks archly, and then turns to pick up her water bottle. "Everything has to be named at some point, and people prefer to keep these short and easy to remember. You should come up with an alternative."

"Dimensional doors would at least be more correct." Not that it would be good, but not as faulty.

"Which will turn into 'D doors' or something similarly inane if it's taken up. People are rarely concerned about accuracy if it doesn't affect them directly." She tucks a loose tuft of hair behind her ear and drinks deeply.

"You have an interest in fencing?"

"My parents aren't rich. It's not a sport that was offered in any school that I visited." And he'd not really get into a sport that requires extra effort to attend. His parents make him do one sport at a time, and that he does, but not more.

"And people are never concerned with accuracy, even if it affects them directly."

"I'm not surprised. Combat sports aren't popular in schools. The risk of injury and litigation is too high, and they're rarely cooperative. It's still around at the high school level, but only in places." She'd only really taken it up in college. Gwyn loves dance, but if she had to pick just one fencing would win out.

And not just because she killed a possessed dog with this slender, flexible sword.

"Looking at statistics, they are much less dangerous than football." Not that he wants to do football. He tried once and he just prefers other things. Track is okay.

"College and professional football," she says, and clarifies further. "Tackle football. Americans have a blind spot about the harm it does athletes, and how they treat them in general." Being sort of the jock of her family she's familiar enough with these issues to set her jaw thinking about them, but she doesn't go farther off track. "Schools prefer to underline the team-building part of the game. Fencing is largely solitary, and as you say, it's associated with the wealthy."

"My parents prefer me doing game sports anyway, so fencing probably isn't for me." Because he's not doing more sports than necessary, and the obligatory team sport is a thing that his parents insist on. Learning how to function in groups and team work and so on.

"Because they wouldn't support it, or because of a lack of interest yourself?" Gwyneth shrugs. She's not going to push to sell this, she just wants that distinction made.

"They demand that I do one team sport, and two sports would take up more time that I can better spend differently."
