Who: Jasmine, Lily, Raye, Marina, Rakka, Winter, doppelgangers [potentially more later]
What: "Darkness Falls" - "Attack" on the Heart Tree
Where: las Vegas, location of the Heart Tree
When: March 27th

Jasmine's doppelganger had gathered together the people she needed to fight with her. With that, all that mattered was choosing a time, as she already knew the place. The evening of a Friday was the perfect time, in her mind. Plenty of people would be near this tourist spot, after all - more than enough to bear witness to her triumph over her other self.

Rakka, Raye, Marina, Winter, and Lily had accompanied her, and she suspected her enemies would arrive with similar numbers. She had no intention of harming a potential asset like the Heart Tree, but their other selves didn't know that, and she suspected they wouldn't be willing to risk the possibility the so-called doppelgangers might. And so, she'd sent Lily a rather cavalier photograph of herself standing in front of said tree to the other Lily's phone, along with the taunting message of "Look what I found".

Now all that was left was to lie in wait for them to arrive, and for her to spring their trap once they did. But in Jasmine's mind, she had already won. She was certain victory would be her's, and that in the end, only one Jasmine Tsukuyomi would survive the night. That woman Saretha... her words had only galvanized her. If she was meant to help save the world, it was only fitting that they put the best foot forward, right?

A weak, pathetic girl like the other Jasmine... she didn't even deserve to play a part in such a vaunted task.

The Marina that's already there is also already wearing her armor, her sword sheathed at her side, because holy hell does she want to be ready before anything goes down. Sure, there are still people here who could grind her into a fine paste, but at least it'll take longer like this, and she'll have a fighting chance against everyone who isn't a Raye.

It's tedious waiting, though, even for a short while, and, sighing, she pulls out a book and turns to lean against the nearest lean-on-able object.

Which happens to be the ancient magical tree of hope and joy and awesome powers. "I hope they... get here soon. I want this over with." Her voice is already shaking a little.

"So, this is the tree, huh?" Raye's voice comes from the other side of the tree as she steps around it, hands in the pockets of her long coat. "It doesn't look like much."

She glances around at the other two who had arrived before her before turning to look up at the branches above her with a wicked smile. Taking one hand from her pocket, she reaches out and rests it against the tree. Her fingernails dig roughly into the bark.

"It doesn't look like much. Anybody could come along and chop it down."

"Don't you even dare," Jasmine snapped. "We still need it... its only purpose is to serve as bait. Trust me, if this thing thinks more Precure are needed, I'd much rather have allies than go without."

She crossed her arms. "If you're so eager to see something burn, Raye, you'll have more than enough opportunity to do so."

"It's powerful, though..." Rakka replied quietly, taking a seat against the tree as well. She turned her gaze upward, looking up at the waving branches. She shrunk a little, at the mention of more Precure. "I can feel it. It must be very important to Jasmine and the others."

Which meant a fight was likely to happen, if and when their other selves arrived to the scene. The chance to let her frustrations out on someone was a good deal, but she wasn't looking forward to this. Not one bit.

After a bit, when the conversation provided an opening, Jasmine slunk closer to Marina, a serious and disapproving look upon her face.

"Why are you so nervous?" she asked, keeping her voice low. "This is cause for excitement."

Marina looked up bashfully, for a moment, just a moment, before dropping her gaze again. "I-I know you'll win..." No, she doesn't. "But I'm... not... as much of a fighter."

She shook her head. "I'm not so confident about... myself.

"... Nonsense," Jasmine sighed. "I chose you, didn't I? That's proof enough you're capable."

She smirked, and began to say something she thought would come off as romantic. "Besides, I won't allow you to fail, you understand?"

It wasn't romantic, but it was the best Marina got here. "Y-you're right. You would know more about power than I do."

Despite all that... what if she died? Or Lily, or any of the others? Raye was probably safe, but... "A-although... I should be more worried about making sure you get the fight you want than winning my own."

"That's a good girl," she said, looping an arm around her waist, not even picking up on the other girl's insecurities. "Let's keep our priorities straight, hm?"

She grinned. "Besides, I'll reward you when this is over. Something to look forward to, right?"

She never picked up on them anyways, so Marina was hardly looking for it. At the very, very least, there's a sense of security with the devil you know over the devil you don't.

Marina leaned against Jasmine. "Yeah. I'll be waiting for it..." And she had someone who appreciated her, at least, even if Marina knew it might not be the best or healthiest way. "We'll... go home together and celebrate after this... it'll probably be quick too."

"That's what I like to hear," she said, leaning over and pecking Marina on the cheek. "Remember... the reason why we exist... it's literally to save the world. How could someone like us lose, hm? It's practically preordained..."

The way she said that sounded like she was so sure of it, almost to the point of religious reverence. At herself. But in Jasmine's mind that was wholly justified.

Didn't both sides exist to save the world? In different ways? Sure, the human part of the world had rejected them and some people decided to not hate everyone for it, and that was just a little bit incompatible with wanting to only save a little bit of it and watch the rest burn...

"I guess we have to... save the world from a lot of... foolish nonsense, and awful people... don't we? On top of everything else." If they won here, she still had faith that they could do it.

So could the other side. "You're incredible." ...she's in love with an overconfident fool.

As far as Jasmine concerned, the previous version was an accident. She was the superior model.

"Yes, and this is just one step closer to all of that," she replied, leaning back against her. "And... I know. But I do love hearing you say it... I'll do everything I can so you can be nearly as incredible too."

Because in Jasmine's mind, she herself was like the sun, now, and Marina? Marina was in her orbit.

New and improved! Now with misanthropy! Here to save Earth from the primate pests ruining everything. She shrank down, but not away, at the closeness. "B-because they won't let us fix the things... that have to be broken down... and gotten rid of."

Like, oh, most of their species, society, nations, religion... "You really... lift me up with you."

Lily stands, quieter than usual. She just... stares at the tree, arms crossed. She feels a bit torn about being here, actually. What Jasmine wants, she can provide. Of course she can. She's her sister. But...

Something doesn't feel right. The atmosphere feels all wrong, and as she stares at this tree, she can only remember all of those all too vivid, strong memories about fighting beneath it. Fighting Dark Precure. Cologne dying...

No, she doesn't care about any of that. It's in the past, it doesn't affect her.

Right?

But she just stands and says nothing, besides giving Raye the stink eye at one point as she makes a comment about the tree's fragility.

"Relax, I don't plan on interfering with your vendetta." She shrugs, before glancing toward Lily and giving the other girl a smirk in response to that glare. "This thing being here suits me just fine for now."

She releases the tree and takes a few steps over to where Rakka is sitting. Reaching down she sets her hand on the girl's head before none-too-gently pulling her over to lean against her and starts... petting her. Like one would treat a favored dog.

"But I'll hold you to that promise."

Quiet Lily worries Marina a little bit, she's gonna be honest. That means she's thinking (like she's bright enough to think without putting that much effort into it), which means she's probably unsure, and Raye's making weird comments and...

No, this has to go smoothly. She lowers her head, glancing at Raye's treatment of Rakka for a moment. "...we need it. Its power. For a long time, at least." Hopefully Raye will want to destroy the world herself badly enough to help with any invasions.

"It's so much simpler than that," Jasmine replied, nuzzling her a bit. "They're beneath us. That's enough to squash them."

She giggled a bit. "And I'll keep doing so... as long as we all play our part."

Beneath. Right. Marina likes to think she's thinking bigger than that, and maybe it's just from being around her Jasmine and Raye and Lily, but she really does just despise their others - their originals, she feels it in her bones, she fears it so much - a lot too.

"...we hardly even need to prove our superiority, huh? It's just... a matter of time."

"..."

Jasmine pulled away, expression disappointed and serious. "On the contrary. We do need to prove it. People are stupid, Marina. That's what this is about... sending a message. To the Numbered. To the others like us. To the world."

She looked up at the moon. "And that message is... we will not be someone's shadow..."

"Well, yeah, to the... idiot world, and their kind, sure." She rolled her eyes. Always such showmanship, Jasmine. "If... you killing their Jasmine makes her vulnerable, I might... take my shot at their Marina too."

Winter's here, also, for now hanging close to Lily with an arm wrapped around her; uncharacteristically, she's a little anxious about what's going to happen here. The mirrors being here would make for a battle, to be sure, and that's what Jasmine wants. But... Saretha's other had brought up a good point. What if they really did need all hands - both sets of the numbered - to take on future threats? Threats from without?

Still, this was Jasmine's operation. And the ring on her hand made her the next best thing to family. Family... had to be trusted, above all else. So even if they weren't good friends anyway, she'd support Jasmine with her whole heart.

Except her heart isn't entirely in this operation. So, while she's behind Jasmine, she's not sure she's ready to give her life for her on this one. Or that she's going to want to take a life. As much as she wants to be the alpha Diamond, maybe two heads are better than one here.

Aloud, as she absently runs a hand through Lily's hair, she adds, "No, the Tree needs to stay for now. There's no telling what happens to Lily's or Rakka's powers if we destroy it, plus... like Jasmine said, if it wants to give us more Precure, all the better."
