Saaaay, I know I've been pretty quiet lately but with all the garbage between the doppelgangers and everything I kinda needed a break, you know? Anyway, has anyone seen a sword wandering around?

Y'know, big, metal, sharp, has skulls on the handle?

[He holds up a rough sketch of this for the camera.]

Darn thing just up and left, who would've thought? And I already checked the refrigerator so don't even ask. Apparently that's where we're keeping swords these days.

[He puts on a slightly disapproving frown, but at this point it's fruitless to argue it.]

... That's certainly a concern. [And not at all what they need, weapons being suddenly unaccounted for.]

You're telling me. That thing's a nuisance enough when I know where it is.

How is it a nuisance then? [That doesn't seem to make sense.] And who else has access to where you've been keeping it?

It talks. It's not very friendly. [Haaah yeah that's not creepy or anything but Nathan may better understand his worry. A sword alone might not be a huge problem, but a living weapon on the other hand...] Just Richard, and even though he's kind of got a strange sense of humor these days I know he wouldn't touch it.

[The idea of his doppelganger kind of slipped his mind.]

I see. [Talking weapon. Alright. Exactly the kind of thing that a normal person would dismiss out of hand, but they are the Numbered, here. He's therefore inclined to believe it, especially as there isn't any reason for Tony to lie about this.

[And while it may have slipped Tony's mind . . .] What about your doppelganger?

[He doesn't like to make it public knowledge because it's really weird and creeps him out but right now? Kind of important to find it. Just in case it's capable of causing trouble.]

...Shit. I didn't even think about him. [Which means it could be anywhere by now.]

If he didn't have his own, but has knowledge of where you live and where you kept it, then it's by far the most reasonable conclusion to say that he's taken it. [Nothing about this is good.]

I don't know if he did, I haven't actually met the guy. Just heard he's apparently a violent psychopath.

[Which, you know, makes this all so much better and he should really stop talking now oh god.]

I can't say anything definitive about the consistency of our doubles possessing the same objects we've gotten through Echoes, but it would provide motive for taking yours.

[Long, uncomfortable pause.] Yes, so I've heard myself.

I know they don't have a copy of things that aren't echoed, at least I'm petty sure since mine hasn't shown up on my phone at all, but stuff that's come back I'm not sure.

[A bit of a wince, you're still upset with him aren't you?] You meet him?

[No, he's not still mad. A little bit worried that you might still be a bit upset with him -- and justifiably, in his eyes -- but mostly his discomfort comes from contemplating that a violent psychopath just got ahold of a dangerous weapon.]

I only know what I've heard. I've only spoken to a few doubles on here and yours isn't among them. And so far as I'm aware, I haven't met any in person.

[Nope, he's not petty, and Nathan did apologize so all is well as far as Tony's concerned. But yes, a dangerous psychopath has a dangerous weapon and that's really not good for anyone right now.]

I know he went after L, haven't heard much about him beyond that.

[And Nathan had stopped being angry within a few days of their fight; it had just taken a while to work up the guts to apologize.]

Then you know about as much about his activities as I do.

[That can be hard to do, he understands.]

He's damn good at being quiet, that's for sure. If that's the case, I wonder what he needs a sword for...

All things considered, I have my doubts it could be anything good.

That's a safe bet. 'Course pinning him down's the hard part, he could be anywhere.
