[Closed] Fly, pigeon fly, cross your windblown sky

Who: Thorir, Aaron, Julien
What: Let's find the prodigal pigeon and haul him back home
Where: Within the Neuschwanstein boundary; a mountainous place without that many people
When: This weekend

yes okay maybe the main reason I cut this was for the text.

Thorir nods over at Aaron and then tilts his head over towards Julien. Go to him, you are much better equipped to handle the situation right now..

A month ago, Thorir would have gone over and tried to let physical contact aid the words said, but now... he said that he doesn't expect Julien to just forgive and forget, and while it hurts for his words to ring true, he accepts it. And it makes his own standing in this situation rather troublesome, and he is not alone here. Aaron has - hopefully - much more leverage.

Aaron gives Thorir a glance -- are you sure? Though he had never lashed out at Julien, his betrayal is older, and Aaron isn't sure how deep the distance between them is. He's done his part to embitter Julien.

But he will try.

He steps forward, sinking to a crouch, one knee to the ground in front of where Julien's face is buried in straw.

"What was that?" he asks, though he knows full well what was said.

"No?" asks Aaron, gently. "It didn't keep you from helping those skiers." He knows about that. Of course he knows about that. Tracking sightings of the giant white bird had helped him narrow down Julien's location.

"It's true. I knew. I saw you before I came here. And I came anyway."

His tone is mild -- reminding, not scolding.

"Come back with me," Aaron says. He's asking, advising, but not commanding. "It won't be easy. I can't promise that it will be all right. It probably won't. But I can promise that it won't be all bad, and that it will be better than staying up here alone.

"Will you come back?"
elfstoned: (so c-come on)

[personal profile] elfstoned 2015-02-26 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
"But not impossible. You'll learn. It'll come easier."

He's not going to stroke Julien's head. If Julien had been sensitive about the idea of being a bird, being treated like an animal now would be terrible.

Aaron switches to Sindarin.

"Nimbatho--ú-breithoch."

It's then that he reaches forward, kneeling properly to be sure he doesn't overbalance, and takes the sides of Julien's face, hooking fingers under the jaw. If Julien recoils, he'll pull back, but it isn't something one would do to an animal unless one wanted one's hands bitten.

"Gi ú-eriol."

A beat.

"Or, at least, you don't have to be."
elfstoned: (your touch magnetizing)

"Sometimes, you don't," Aaron says, keeping his hands where they are. "Sometimes, the only thing you can do is get up. But it's important that you do. You'll figure out where to go from there."

If Julien doesn't fight him, he'll tug gently upward. It's barely enough to pull Julien's face off of the ground -- it's intended to help Julien get his head up, not to do it for him.

"Come on," he murmurs. "Off the ground with you."
elfstoned: (you're not like the others)

[personal profile] elfstoned 2015-02-26 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Aaron climbs back to his own feet. He reaches forward and brushes some of the straw off of Julien's head and shoulders, quick and deft, like patting down someone who fell in grass. He squares his shoulders, taking in a deep breath himself and letting it out.

"Time to try something else, then. Where do you think you'll go?"
elfstoned: (when you walk through Gondor)

[personal profile] elfstoned 2015-02-26 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Do you know anyone you can stay with?" inquires Aaron. "Anyone you trust, who you're less uncomfortable being around?"

Julien has friends, Aaron knows; he's never lacked for them. Surely there must be someone.
elfstoned: (everyone else but you)

[personal profile] elfstoned 2015-02-27 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that's incredibly convincing. Aaron is very sure you thought of someone to stay with.

"Do you need one?" he presses. Without his echoes, maybe he would have thought it best to let it lie, but now? He's been giving Julien space for a year, and it's left Julien lashing out. Space is clearly not the best thing here.
elfstoned: (fill me with your poison)

[personal profile] elfstoned 2015-02-27 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Aaron's mouth pulls into a taut line.

"My house in Locke City isn't ideal," he says. "There's not much space, and it would be hard to come and go unnoticed. But if it's better than where you're thinking, and especially if where you're thinking is hiding in the middle of nowhere again, you'd be welcome."
elfstoned: (want to be a victim)

[personal profile] elfstoned 2015-02-27 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"As if you couldn't work around that if you put your mind to it," Aaron says, mildly challenging.

"But I won't deny that Locke is a terrible place to hide." In the TV show that is this game, there is a dramatic beat there, and the audience will wonder what's up with that heavy-handed foreshadowing.

"I won't tell you where to go. But you can come to me, if you need it. That hasn't changed."
elfstoned: (don't need makeup to cover up)

[personal profile] elfstoned 2015-03-08 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
He looks at Julien for a moment -- it's that look, the Striderstare, the piercing one -- and then relents. He nods, satisfied.

"All right. Pack up whatever you've got here and we'll go."
elfstoned: (it ain't hard to tell you don't know)

[personal profile] elfstoned 2015-03-09 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
....

Aaron takes a breath, closes his eyes, and sighs it out.

"I know," he says, resigned. "I could have made last year easier for you, and I didn't. I'm sorry."

He offers no excuses. Aaron recognizes that some of it was not his fault -- that losing his Echoes was out of his control. However, that doesn't change how it made Julien feel.

He bends down, picks up the cloak, and shakes it out. He begins to fold it.
