Bestselling author Roy Locke is cooperating with some of his fans and a few people from media and politics to throw a New Year's party, especially inviting all those who have numbers. He would like to meet as many numbered as possible!

[A party was a party, and you'd bet Rakka would be here after all that chaos a few days ago.]

[Stefan's more curious about meeting an author - and okay, maybe about visiting Vegas itself. That curiosity promptly died a swift and painful death upon entering the casino.]

I don't know what I expected. ["But this sure wasn't it."]

Yeah, it's interesting, right?

[That was one word for it. Rakka felt she was underdressed for this place.]

I guess... we're supposed to have fun?

Looks like it. [He's mostly bemused by the whole thing - while he's used to glitz and glamor, Las Vegas's definition of glamor is far beyond his comfort zone. Not to mention, he's a bit under-dressed himself (despite wearing a blazer and slacks).]

I'm sure some of us got distracted by the games on the way in, but I think I saw an open bar over there.

One minute after midnight

Midnight has passed, and suddenly... you are still where you were a minute ago, but not where you remember being last: Because everything that happened in the last four days is gone from your memory. But check your mobile, and it is the 6th. And perhaps you have a small item or memory left after all....

Freaking out is an option, but is it the best one?

[The dancing had ended, and things had calmed down. Rakka was just about to say something when her eyes widened and she looked around.]

..W-h... where am I? What's going on?!

[Freaking out is good.]

[hustru]

[Siiri, a couple of feet away, has a similar problem. She is holding two glasses of wine, but... why? There is nobody standing remotely close to her, the next person is Rakka, and how did she even get here?

So she turns to look at the younger female.

SHE HAS NO CLUE EITHER

....okay just. that girl is numbered, right? So... slowly walking over towards her.]

[Looking around.... Looking down at herself... She's in a nice dress, at least, but, she didn't remember putting it on which made things much worse then before.

She was at a nice party, in a nice dress, and she had no idea what was going on.

Looking up at Siiri, she had to ask.]

Wh... what do you remember?

[hustru]

[Being cuddled up on the couch together with Åsa and watching late night TV.

Not that she can really say that, people might get the entirely wrong idea.]

I was home.

[charcoalfeather]

So was I.

[She had been home with the Dians, doing things.

And now she was at a party.

Huh.]

[hustru]

[So they have confirmed that they were somewhere else and have no idea how they got here. In different places, too. And Rakka doesn't really look anymore drunk than Siiri herself feels... strange.

But what do you say after that? ...

Good when you have a talking help dog with you. Floweregg peers down from Siiri's shoulder and asks:] What- [But hearing her suddenly startles Siiri because she didn't quite realize that the dog was there yet, which leads to her automatically shying away from the sound - getting off balance, almost falling, and Floweregg yelping in sudden panic as she starts to slide off the tall woman's shoulder.]

[Rakka almost freezes up completely as Siiri goes down, but manages to get out of the way in time so as to not create a domino scenario. Oh, oh boy... Sorry, Siiri.]

...Wha...

[She doesn't even know what to do in this situation. Was she dreaming? Was she awake? What did she do?! In the end, her concern won out.]

Are you... okay?

[hustru]

[She manages to catch herself and only land on her knees, but...

she'd really, really like to just sink into the ground and hide now. Wow, that was undignified and ridiculous. But. She also has a dog to take care of, and that calms her down enough to balance herself out and cradle a panicked Floweregg in her arms, trying to soothe her through pettings and the safety of steadily holding her. It's only at this point that she has her own bearings upon her enough to look up at Rakka and belatedly reply.]

I got startled. [She really overreacted, didn't she?

Uh... [Bewildered, Rakka could simply nod.

Yes. Yes, that was pretty ridiculous, the way she overreacted. Or, well, reacting at all was warranted at the moment.]

[Siiri will just

stare at Rakka

what should she say what should she do this is awkward

Meanwhile Floweregg sighs and peers up at Rakka.]

You wear a pretty dress.

Uh...

[Yup

This is incredibly awkward, just the kind of situation Rakka loves to find herself in. Except totally not.]

Uh, thank you. I don't remember getting it...

[Thank you, dog, for changing the subject.]

Do you think they have dog dresses?

[CONTINUING FULL FORCE WITH THE SMALL TALK]

...Maybe? I don't know, I'm not really a dog person...

[Eyes turn to Siiri. Help her. Please.]

[Siiri's... actually pondering this now. Maybe she can sew her dog something...

So sadly, no help from Siiri because Siiri is thinking.

Floweregg on the other hand seems a bit hurt by that comment.]

You like cats better?

[Drat. Here Rakka was, lost and confused, and now stuck with a dog for conversation.

...There were worse fates.]

Uh, not really. [she had to think.] I guess I like birds the most, actually.

There was a bird on the network, but he isn't really a bird anymore.

[Which makes her sad. She'd really like more animals on the network.]

Do you have a bird?

Uh huh... There was a Unicorn too, once.

[...What happened to her... She'd have to go and look sometime.]

Well, not really. One follows me around, though! I mean, it did...

It doesn't anymore?

[She's finally together enough again to join the conversation.]

[charcoalfeather]

No. I don't know where it went, but it used to always be around me. Like, in the general area.

[She frowned.

[hustru]

Was it related to the numbers?

[That kind of... changes how things should be looked at a lot most of the time.]

[charcoalfeather]

The numbers?

[A light shrug, her wings fluttering a little with the motion.]

It could be, I guess.

[hustru]

[She hums and looks at Rakka for a long moment, then...]

We'll go home. You?

[charcoalfeather]

I'm... probably going to go home, too.

[She just has to. find the way....]

[hustru]

Locke?

[That is at least where they will be headed.]

[A sad nod.

This is a weird evening and she would very much like to go home now please]

[Well, Siiri at least is taking her dog and going home.

Turning around!] Come.

[And then she just marches towards where she assumes the exit to be.]
