[It felt so strange to know, to feel, that she didn't need to breathe any more, that she didn't even have a pulse now. And yet, despite all that, she wasn't truly dead. Fortunate, as she doesn't want to leave poor Arthur, Dani, Robyn and the rest behind if she were to properly die. If she didn't get that echo and rise again...]

[Well, here she is now, looking alarmingly pale as vampires tend to be, making a video post as usual. Only, she looks a bit unsure of herself. But that will, of course, pass.]

I think it's safe to say that last night's attempt of trying to hunt down impostors of Dani and I ended... badly.

If not for an Echo, I would be dead. ...Or fully dead, rather. I'll spare you the details, but I didn't find those fakers, only wannabe vampire hunters. [For a brief moment, she held a hand to her chest.]

...I'll say one thing. I won't be hunting down those fake vampires alone from now on.

[After that last statement, Emilia shuts off the feed for now. It was the second attempt on her life... and it would have been successful had she not become undead.]

All things considered, better than expected.

[While true, she doesn't want to appear vulnerable in front of anyone, so she'll downplay things.]

Good. I'm just grateful you are alive. In a fashion.

I'm more worried about Dani and Arthur, they saw it happen. And both got echoes because of it.

Are you and Dani both OK, Emilia?

I don't know. I missed exactly what she did, but... I think she took down one the attackers with some kind of power. Whatever she did, it knocked her out.

As for me... I'll survive.

That's not good... how long are you going to wait before you seek medical attention?

That's the thing, though, she wasn't hurt. I think it must be tiredness due to using that power.

Emi what happened? Are you guys okay?

I almost died. Actually, I think I was dead... for a few moments until I got an Echo.

Whatever happened, it made Arthur get an echo and change... And Dani did something to one of my attackers, but she's kind of out cold. At least she doesn't look hurt...

Oh my god... [Rakka covered her mouth, shocked beyond words.]

You guys... did you guys get away?

We got away... but our attackers didn't on account of being extremely dead.

O-oh....

[Welp. She wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing anymore.]

[Arthur sat on the floor of Emi's room, looking up out the window with a droll look on his face. He barely blinked, gold eyes flickering in tune with the flickering stars above.

His skin was as pale as Emi's, then, and he had sobered up immensely when they had gotten home, before. Since then, he had been excessively quiet.

Not out of depression, but silent anger. Brooding, loathsome feelings were dwelling in him and they were festering with the worst of intentions.]

[Emi had been waiting for him to say or do something already, and frankly she was quickly getting tired of the silence here. So, after talking to the network a bit, she decides to sit down on the floor right in front of him.]

...Sooner or later, you're going to take root or something.

[He's been like this since he... changed, after seeing her 'die' like that... And Emi isn't terribly fond of it.]

[Things seemed to snap the moment Emi directed herself to him. He was barely paying attention to the network, but he could still somehow tell that Emi had stopped using it. Part of him came with insanely precise instincts. Inflection, posture, volume--it all made him realize his own insight had been abnormal.

What could he do with tools like that?]

It's a comfortable spot to lie down. You can see the stars a bit clearer on this side of the city, y'know.

[He reached forward for her, smiling with a withering sort of happiness.] Just take root with me.

[Well, she decides that under the circumstances, there's not reason for her not to sit with him, or try to get him to move. And so, she settles beside him, gently taking his hand with her own, cold one.]

Hmm, why not?

[Part of Arthur felt guilt each and every time he touched Emilia. The cold in her was his fault, he thought. He had been inconsistent and slow--he didn't go for the kill, which would have saved her. Had he just let himself forget that idiotic notion of heroism sooner--]

Good. Vegging out sounds nice.

[So, he set his arms around her. If she was cold, he would just be warmer for her. Arthur let his blood boil just a little, to make that possible.]
