[semi-open] everyone needs a vacation sometimes
Who: Karl and you!
Where: Germany!
When: 10/27-10/28
What: A cop goes to Germany to unwind.
a. open!
[It's been a while since Karl's been in the nation. When was the last time he came here? 23? Something like that 9 (cue the fun thoughts of how old he is creeping up). Part of him wants to go up to Berlin to visit family but part of him just wants to dick around this city for the next two days. Why not? His boss took one look at him the other day and told him to just finish off the sick days he has left. Between what happened to Danny and then Melissa, well, simply put the only work that got done on Saturday was him doodling all over some report for 5 hours. They weren't even really good doodles, either. When doodles are bad, it's time for a break.
So, for the next two days, Karl just wanders around the city. He has a drink at various cafes, goes enjoy a few local taverns, finally puts his German to good use for the first time in nearly two decades: all that good stuff. Despite the fun, the guy still appears relatively out of it. Your girlfriend losing control and the murder of a wonderful family does that to a guy. Has he bumped into people because of being so out of it? Oh you know it.]
b. closed to melissa, monday evening
[Of all the things Karl expected to do while here, being dragged go-carting wasn't one of them. Melissa had come by in the evening. A nice surprise. Sort of. One of the reasons he'd gone on his own here was to get away from everything. Melissa's presence, though never bad, prevents that from fully happening.
Ah well, shooing her away wasn't going to happen. She doesn't deserve that, not after everything that's happened. Brooding alone can happen properly later. For now, he lets himself be dragged like a good boyfriend, if one who barely speaks during the dragging. The first time something other than a small grunt or hum comes is upon arriving at their destination. Are they really doing this? Really?]
...We're going go-carting?

[Melissa offers no further elaboration, mostly because she feels like one shouldn't be necessary. Both of their weeks have been fucking awful, for much of the same reasons She doesn't want to think about it anymore, and she's guessing he does but he shouldn't be. He is not allowed to brood this fucking much.]
Come on. [She'll drag him towards the entrance, and... hope that he does this because she can't speak a lick of German.]

He's just walking around idly when someone bumps into him. Emil turns around and – really? Seriously? Of course, there were other Numbered around but to run into Mister Hair Metal Fetish Suit of all people… he makes a face.]
Oh. It's you.
[Say hello to your favorite kid, Karl, touring in Germany on a school day and carrying two bottles of beer even though it's barely past noon.]
