October 5th; An evening gone well.
Who: Arthur York & Emilia
What: Horror! Something bad happens as usual. A date goes terribly awry, apparently.
When: October 4th, evening.
Warnings: V for Violence.
A date out in the city. Arthur thought he had been doing pretty well. They didn't go see a movie or anything, but they did a few of the classic things--walking around and getting something to eat. Talking and loitering where ever it looked nice. Arthur was still on the fence about exuding confidence, but for the most part, one could say he was absolutely happy with himself.
The black-tinted, black sedan driving from down the street held a host of folks inside who seemed to disagree with that good mood.

It was safe to say she had enjoyed her date as much as he did. A shame about that black car barreling down the road.
The night was once again interrupted by the sound of gunfire...

Arthur only had a moment to draw Excalibur, deflecting a great number of them before one struck his jugular, a fine mist of blood coming out of the side of his neck. Arthur fell back as the bullets ceased, Excalibur stabbing into the ground beside him. He stumbled, his hand coming up to his neck, uselessly trying to plug up the hole.
At that, the car stopped and several mafia members stepped out, some with firearms, some without.

"Arthur!"
And this left her an easy target for their assailants... All she wanted to do was try to save him, even if it was a useless gesture. "No... Please..."

He found himself smiling, because at the very least, he saved Emilia so she wouldn't go down right away like he did.
"...Kick their asses."
/Beserker's theme from Fate/Zero starts playing
She was beyond caring how she looked, tears streaming down her face, when the beserker rage took hold. She couldn't recall standing up, or even summoning Gungnir. The frenzied vampire stuck first, the spear of magical energy impaling and killing the closest goon in an instant. But with that first kill, a memory, an echo surfaced.
She remembered her past self killing what must have been her captors in a vengeful rage...

Excalibur's wind barrier vanished, the form of Avalon coating it. Arthur's hand rose, taking the handle of his sword, pulling himself up despite the fact that it should have been absolutely impossible. He breathed softly, his eyes beginning to gain focus.
"Emi," He whispered, his skin taking color once more. Slowly but surely, life was coming back to him as the sheathe lit up, an ethereal aura taking hold of it. "How am I..."

The last collapsed to his knees and begged for mercy after witnessing how easily she killed the others, but Emilia was in no state of mind to listen.
Mafia goon or not, she was about to kill a surrendering enemy here...

"Arthur..."

If it didn't work, he hadn't been quite sure what he would have done next.
"Hold them," He tried his best to remain somber and serious, but Arthur's expression was marred by the fact that his face was soaked with tears.

She did what she was asked, and in an instant, her regeneration was bolstered by it and her wounds healed, the bullets forced out of her body. "What...?"

He stayed silent, wondering how lucky he must have been at that moment.
At that, the pulse of an echo struck him once more, a memory of tearing through ranks of soldiers with sickening ease. He cut down a whole field of men and in the end, those he was defending called him insane and a 'dragon' wearing the skin of a man. Someone who wasn't even remotely human.
Still, he smiled: "Right now, I'm glad I'm a monster."
no subject
"...No, not a monster." She looks around, getting to her feet and taking his hand. "Let's just leave this place, Arthur."
no subject
Despite that, he trusted her when she stood up and he, without thinking--scooped Emilia into his arms. "Straight home."

...If she wasn't covered in blood, and the street wasn't running red with freshly spilt blood, this might had looked romantic. "I... got a memory just now."
