Mirror, o mirror
Who: Lily, Winter, others [OPEN to friendly Vegas dwellers, except where noted.]
What:Requisite mid-season magical girl power up time Lily has called people nearby to talk and try and get a handle on who's around. Also, she has this nifty thing! ... too bad she doesn't know how to make it work ...
Where: We're going to say a food court somewhere - let's say the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood in Vegas. They have places where random gatherings could just converge.
When: Monday, September 15th, Mid-Afternoon
Lily wasn't content to just sit around. No, they did need to do something, and the first part of that would have to be discussion.
She's nervous about being back here still, of course. That memory of the Vermini tearing into her suddenly became much more vivid once they were within the Vegas boundaries again, but... There are other things they have to focus on.
So, on Monday morning she tries to get hold of whoever she can that might be nearby, and tells them where to meet up. It's nothing but an informal meeting, no grand plans are going to be discussed as far as she can figure, but... touching base, in person, with whoever she can feels like something that should happen.

[OPEN] - Mingling
GENERAL MINGLING
As it's a place with people, and not some dark back alley where monsters could leap out and rip out her throat, Lily is much less looking around warily for such things. Still, you're here for a reason, right?

She was also wearing contacts for the first time in years, but that wasn't as obvious. Back when she was younger, she'd done it to hide her heterochromia, but this time? She was trying to preserve the image out of hopes that she could hide the fact that both of her eyes were now gold-colored.
Of course, it didn't end up looking quite right when one looked closely. Yellow was an odd color, after all.
In any case, Jasmine was sitting alone, leaning her head on one shoulder and appearing for all intents and purposes to be lost in thought.

She then promptly sits down beside her, sipping on her own drink. "...you know, I realize this is all a lot to take in at once..."

"I'm sorry, Lily," she said. "I've kind of been a huge downer since this whole mess started..."

This was, of course, not all fun and games. All of them need to be ready for what was going to happen in the future, and they needed to know who was available and how available they were, and how willing they were to stay that way. Marina couldn't duck out of that either, although she always feels a little out of place when it comes to planning things, leaving her bugging people when she sees the opportunity and nibbling at a soft pretzel when she isn't.

And what happened immediately after the last time she had come out to places with people from the network.
So yeah, Linda's not really being all that talkative at first, but she does eventually start to relax after a little bit. With everyone here, it wasn't like something terrible was going to happen. No one was going to get hurt or killed or anything. If the cultists tried anything, they'd probably be regretting it almost immediately.
Still... she hated feeling so useless. There had to be something that she could do to help everyone else, since it didn't look like powers was going to be something that she was going to get anytime soon.

"Poof"
She gives a slight sigh, casting a look towards Winter.
"Still, we're all in kind of a bind now, if we could use it it'd be useful..." She frowns, and idly without thinking about it sort of ends up thumbing buttons on top of the item. Four of them, in particular - and she seems to hit a certain sequence.
Which causes it to light up. Lily can scarcely get a reaction out, as the glow suddenly encompasses both her and Winter and they just...
Vanish, as if into thin air.

"Shit," he says to himself, and then brings out his phone and texts just are you okay? to Winter's number. She won't see it until next time she uses her number, but doing something makes him feel better.
[CLOSED to Lily and Winter]
Separately.
The location and setting will be different for each of them.
What they must face will be similar, yet equally as different.
Their shadows are coming for them, and either they must learn to overcome and accept the darkness of their pasts and their minds, or they're going to be stuck here.
Forever.
Moonlight Mirage - 1/2
Lily finds herself as Cure Moonlight, transformed, and in this place. She feels disoriented at first, lost- where is Winter? Jasmine? Her girlfriend and sister spring first to mind, along with everyone else in short order. Whatever happened, did it happen to all of them as well? Either way, she has to regain her own composure, figure out what happened to herself--
"Do not act as if you don't know what this is," a voice - her voice - coming forth with a strange echo to it, comes from behind her. "You false Cure Moonlight."
Moonlight swings around, and at the sight of this entity - her, with longer, darker purple hair, a long black dress, and short white jacket - it crashes into her: an echo. Memory floods her for another Cure Moonlight, of Yuri, fighting in this exact same situation. Just what this is, the accusations thrown at her, the resolution... It all comes to her, and she stumbles back, holding her head.
"My... shadow self...?" Moonlight manages to get out, and focuses on the duplicate standing before her. She finds her composure quickly enough, however, and swallows hard. "Or hers...?"
The double cracks a smirk, and begins to slowly advance on her. "That is the question, is it not. You have all the answers to what this is, don't you? Or you so believe. Isn't that convenient, how such things can just come to you?" She shakes her head, giving a sharp, dismissive chuckle. "I am Cure Moonlight Mirage, but what is that to you? Am I you? Or Yuri? If I am the latter, what does that make you?"
Moonlight tenses. "I'm Lily Tsukuyomi! I'm--"
An explosion of flower petals behind Moonlight Mirage indicates a charging dash. In her pulse, Yuri first faced a flying punch, and muscle memory from that has Moonlight bring up her hands. It takes only a split second, but she catches a sadistic smirk from the shadow as her leg swings out, catching the Precure hard in her side. She flies, slamming into the flower dotted hill with a chaotic roll.
"Are you?" Moonlight Mirage asks, lowering her leg, reaching back to flip her hair over her shoulder. "You're a girl who never quite fit in. Who was always on the outside looking in. Never able to hold onto friends. Constantly left behind by others, no matter how smart you may have been. Overlooked, unloved. All you had was your sister... and look what fate has had in store for you. Look what she's become."
Moonlight struggles to push herself up, shaking her head violently. "SHUT UP! I have people! I have friends! I still have my sister, and I will continue to so long as I'm still breathing! I have Winter-!"
Before she knows it, Moonlight Mirage is right over her, and another kick is driven down, this one striking her in the stomach. In addition to the wind being blown completely out of her, she is blown straight into the sky. The Mirage follows effortlessly, launching off the ground after her.
"And how long do you think that is going to be?!" the double cries, striking out with her arm. Moonlight tries a futile effort to block in mid-air, and partly succeeds, but is still send rocketing down with all the force the Mirage had intended. She crashes into the ground once more, sending a rain of flowers and petals into the air, a crater and rising dust left around her.
The Mirage lands at the edge of the crater, a wave of her hand causing enough force to dismiss the dust. She cocks her head up, looking down at the dazed Cure Moonlight with disdain.
"Look around you, Lily Tsukuyomi. These 'friends' of yours have been created by tenuous bonds that they can so easily forget. They've already started to leave you, haven't they? Cerise. Annie. Kari. Russel. Harper. Just to name a few..."
"They- they're still my..." Moonlight coughs, pushing herself up unsteadily to her feet, eying her double with blurry vision.
"You think them remembering bits and pieces is enough? That the deeper you fall into this mess you won't be driven even further apart from them? That more people won't leave you? Even if they do, there are those like Banagher who don't even--"
Sudden clarity washes over Moonlight's mind, and she snaps forward. Earth erupts beneath her feet, and she throws out a solid punch to the Mirage's face - which is promptly caught in her palm. "Your sister continues to change more and more. Eventually, she's going to become that monster you both fear. You know, in your heart, don't you? You know there's only two ways their story could have ended! And Winter..."
Moonlight struggles to move the Mirage's hand, but can't.
"...you will lose her too. You know it. You have never known anything but loss before, what makes you think it's all of a sudden going to be different? If not to loss of pulses, you know. You understand you are on that same path to losing someone just like the real Cure Moonlight did. How long before that bullet is another two inches to the side, hm?"
no subject
"Look as angry as you want," the Mirage murmurs. "You understand this is all true. All of these fears are your own, Lily. Yuri would be sickened to see how weak you are, how cowardly you've become, wanting to hide and cling behind others. Too afraid to even to even step out of your room alone in a city where you were hurt because you're horrified of the monsters you're supposed to be fighting."
"You're right," Moonlight says quietly. "I am a coward, sometimes. I rely a lot on the people around me, I'm constantly afraid of losing them, I worry about what Jasmine might become, but..."
She suddenly grabs the Mirage's blocking hand with her free one, shifts her weight, and sends her flipping over into the air. The shadow tries to adjust at the sudden counter attack, but Moonlight unleashes a blast of power from her palm as she spins to meet her. The attack collides into the double and she tumbles in the air, barely righting herself to land on her feet in time.
"I'm weak without people to support me. I would have destroyed myself countless times before now without that, without them. I worried for the longest time about relying on them for so much of that, but... in the end, that's okay, isn't it? Because I support them just as much as they do me. Thanks to them I changed." She begins to walk towards Moonlight Mirage, smiling faintly. "It is never about just one person. It is never just about one point of view, one side of things. We are all part of a larger whole, everyone in this world, and everyone we are drawing these memories and powers from. And... we are not those people, but they are still apart of us. Yuri was a truly wonderful person, I realize this now - I spent so long trying to hate her, but if I did that I'd only be hating myself. She realized that one can't do things alone. It cost her, and I will take her lessons to make certain I do not repeat her mistakes."
A beam of dark light is loosed from the Mirage's hand as Moonlight slowly advances. The Precure just casually swipes her arm at the beam, deflecting it, and continuing on her way, expression unchanging.
"Jasmine might change. But she will still be Jasmine. Not Dark Precure. My friends might forget things. But they will remain my friends. I will fight for both of these things, with all of my body and soul. While Winter... Winter is different from everyone I knew before. Whatever may come, whatever we may face, we will do it together. Because I love her, and because together..."
The Mirage says nothing, but she surges towards Moonlight again, who merely awaits her calmly. A flurry of punches and kicks fly towards her, but this time she's ready - and she responds to each one in kind, parrying or dodging every single blow.
"We carry the spirit of all those Precure, past and present both! Rikka and Yuri's teams - and of Sunny, Rhythm, and Blossom! Because this is not ever just one person's fight!" Finally, she grabs an incoming punch, stopping the Mirage cold. "The Precure are more than just one person! Even beyond us, that is an ideal that can be carried by everyone still able to move forward! So we will fight, and if I can take anything from Yuri, together we will protect everyone's hearts, and I will do the only thing I can with all the sadness I've seen! I'll turn it into love!"
Then, she does the only thing else she can think of to do.
She hugs her shadow. Herself. She whispers softly, then. "I have all of those fears and worries, and they may not go away easily, but I have things to fight them with. I will never claim to be the greatest person, and I may not ever live up to Yuri's example. But... I have love, and I know from experience now that can combat any darkness which dares to cloud my heart."
The Mirage just stands there for a moment, and then... there is a long sigh as she grows limp.
"Maybe... If you can truly continue to hold onto that resolve, then you may have a chance in the end." Moonlight Mirage pauses a moment, and then smiles. "Make sure you hold yourself to that... Cure Moonlight."
There is a glow from the Mirage's body then, and everything around Lily Tsukuyomi proceeds to become much brighter.
Diamond Mirage | 1/2
Silence answers her. Her words echo through the halls of... is this the high school? It sure looks like Locke City High. All the classrooms are in the right places, at least. But the sky... it's so dark here. There's enough light to see by, but it's like everything's clouded over. Or rather, the sky is gone, replaced with something dark and dingy; is this what a total eclipse looks like? Some part of her rejects it; something is clearly wrong. But for now... there's nothing else she can do but search the halls. On bulletin boards, announcements about upcoming events. Notes about breaks. Condemnations of Winter Adamas and Lily Tsukuyomi- hold on a second.
There are sticky notes, memos, scrawls on stationary... everywhere she looks, there are little notes. And they're petty, but they hurt. She's ugly. She's quiet. She's bossy. She's a bookworm. She cries easily. She's a teacher's pet. She's an overachiever. Lily's too good for her. She doesn't deserve happiness.
The last one catches her eye, in red marker on a yellow sticky note, and with a shaking hand she reaches out to take it. Reading it again and again, Diamond shakes her head. "No... no. I'm not... this isn't right...!"
"But isn't it?" Behind her, a voice. It sounds quite a bit like her own, but there's a certain quality to it... it sounds false, somehow, but it also has a sneer that the rest of her mind is getting stuck on. Her breath catching, Diamond whirls and finds... herself. Or rather, Winter is looking at her normal form, just a bit older, a tiny bit taller. Bright green eyes, sparkling with malice, and outright purple hair to her ankles. She's wearing a black dress that almost hits her knees that clings to her form, and something resembling a white lab coat over it. The effect is... intimidating, if she's being totally honest. "Someone that doesn't have the courage to reach out and take her own happiness doesn't have the right to enjoy it when it happens to fall in her lap, don't you think?"
"I..." She's at a loss. This thing wearing her body, it knows too much. It's not like the mirror, from before. This is gunning for her. "How can you say that!? I... I earned my happiness!" She takes a cautious step back, trying to get away from it and gasping faintly as her back hits the bulletin board she'd pulled the note from. The note itself falls and hits the ground, as she keeps trying to reason with the anomaly. "I worked hard... I've changed myself!"
"You've changed, sure. You went from someone that couldn't do anything," the fake Winter started, as it began to walk toward her, heels leaving audible clicks on the stone floor, "to someone that needs her precious person to do anything at all! Your first question when you got here wasn't 'where am I,' it was 'where is Lily?' You can't do anything without her, can you?" Click. Clack. She's close now, almost within arm's reach. Diamond is freaking out, trying to claw her way further back. "You need her, and without her you're nothing. In your quest to become strong enough to save your so-called friends, you became the person you swore you'd never become." The young woman reached out a gentle hand and put it to Diamond's cheek, the latter sucking in a breath as it made contact. "How does it feel? You said you wouldn't become Rikka, whatever it took. That you weren't Rikka, that you'd learned from her mistakes. But that's exactly what you are!"
A loud slam rings through the hall as the girl's free hand slams into the board next to Diamond's head. "You're a fool. You're useless. You can't do anything on your own. You thought you'd escaped the girl you used to be when you moved to Locke City, but you haven't changed at all. Isn't this power wasted on you? Look, you're shaking! I'm not even doing anything to you, and you're shaking!" Indeed, Diamond's quivering. This is... this is too much. This thing knows her, and it's right...
no subject
"Shut up...!" Faster than Diamond herself can really even work out, her arm shoots out, pushing the girl away. "You don't know me! You... you're wrong! I am more than the girl I used to be! And I'm more... I'm more than what Lily helped me become! I'm still growing, and it's taking time, but that's okay! People don't change overnight!" Her eyes narrow, finally wrapping her head around things. The sticky note in her hands falls to the ground, and she grinds it underfoot. "I can finally take my own happiness... you're not going to tell me otherwise!" Winter's made up her mind on how to move forward, and the girl in the black dress is probably not something she wants to keep around and invite for tea. She's dangerous. Shooting toward where she'd pushed the fake, Diamond's hand comes up like lightning to send her further away. But she ducks the shot, and tries to punch Diamond in return. She barely evades the hit, and tries to throw the mirage away.
Every swing Diamond takes, the fake returns with interest. She feels like she's fighting another Precure, which is wrong on every level, but it's the only description. And the false Winter isn't shutting up, either. "What's going to happen when Lily gets hurt again? Are you just going to stand there? Are you going to watch her die in front of you? Or are you going to get serious and accept that there are some things you can't talk down? That you have to destroy, with all of your power?" Her head bobs, Diamond's foot passing through the space it had occupied half a second prior. "Can you even bring that power to bear against me?"
She's getting really tired of this thing talking. It's annoying her, and it's repetitive. But she understands what it's saying. On some level... is it trying to help? She needs to put more effort into all this. She can't just let her love and her power carry her. And she knows that, too. Rather than another attack, Diamond jumps back, her hand flashing up and setting a Loveads into her Commune. "Twinkle Diamond!" Her hand snaps out, and ice jets from her finger, setting the fake's hair into a frozen mass; feeling its weight behind her, the other Winter slowly grins. "I'm not afraid to use my power. She's not going to get hurt again. And should something happen... I'll take the responsibility. I told her we'd be together, and nothing is going to take her from me. Not her, not Jasmine, nobody. That's my mission, and it's one I'm going to see through!"
Diamond throws herself back into the fray after a second, this time taking advantage of her ice power and actually using her head instead of fighting with just her heart. But the other takes advantage of the same set of powers, forming spikes of ice from the ground, and freezing together a sword made of pure ice, taking it into her hand and cutting her hair off at the shoulder. "Remember that feeling. You can't let your heart waver when you're in the middle of a fight. It'll cost you everything. But you can't just fight with your heart, either. You have to rise above your limits, and push yourself to be the best! You're supposed to be a legendary warrior, right? Act like it!" The sword comes down, and Diamond rolls aside, a leg shooting out to try and trip the girl that's now making a real effort to kill her. The fake hops over the attack and swings the sword down again, Winter only just getting out of the way. "You're getting better, but don't ever assume you've got me until I'm a lump of ice on the ground!" Another slash, and this one she can't escape-
-except it clangs off Diamond's Love Heart Arrow, hastily pulled out of thin air. "I'm not trying to get you. I just want to protect myself, and the people that are important to me. If that means I have to go through you first, then so be it. If you'd just let me leave this place, we wouldn't have to fight." Pulling out another Loveads, Diamond sets it into the slot on the Arrow. "But I don't think that's going to happen. So it's going to come down to which of us has a stronger will." Pushing back on the Arrow with two hands, she throws the fake back a few feet, and bringing the device over her head and back around in a circle, she pushes in on the plunger. "And I'm sorry, but I don't think it's going to be you."
The ringing of a tambourine echoes through the halls; aside from the arctic wind, it's eerily silent. Standing, Diamond looks down at the crouched form of herself, frozen from the torso down, face blank. Then... it smiles, and nods. The hallway grows bright as the sun comes out, and with a sigh the fake drops its sword with a clatter and looks out the windows. Everything continues to brighten, and just before the world turns to white, Winter thinks she sees the other her look at her and mouth, good luck.
Aftermath
A life sized statue appears in the room of Cure Moonlight, which promptly ejects the real article from it. This legendary warrior of love and justice may now, in fact, just unceremoniously land in an undignified position on a hotel bed, because who the hell knows what's going on at this point?
no subject
And then... and then Moonlight materialized right in front of her.
"LILY!" she exclaimed, springing towards the bed with tears in her eyes. "You're back...!"
no subject
One thing that... just happened. While Jasmine dove at her sister, Marina flopped onto her back with possibly the biggest sigh of relief she'd ever let out. "I knew you had to be alright!"
no subject
Finally, she looks up.
And stares at herself.
"Are we just going to ignore the life sized statue of me, now?"
A beat, and she whips her head around.
"Better question, where's Winter?!"
