[Time for a phone selfie video! I hope you like this kinda-shaky view of Danny from the shoulders up as he sits on his bed.]

Okay, so I got asked to check out the new mountain that popped up in Vegas--see if anything's in there that we ought to know about. Well...the answer's no.

[The camera shakes for a moment and when it stabilizes, Danny has a hand pressed up against the side of his head and grimacing as though he's got a bad headache.]

The place is totally empty. I didn't find anything--except for a couple of old bodies, which, uh, ew. Anyway, I don't know how much that helps, but...there you go, I guess. If that matters to--[the video shifts and looks up at where the wall and ceiling of Danny's bedroom meet.]

Hang on, I don't--why am I--Ahh!!

[There's a dull thud noise, and then silence for a few moments. Danny's hand passes over the video a few times, trying to grasp at the phone but failing. When he talks, his voice suddenly sounds very far away.]

Okay, uhhh. Change of plans. Can somebody come over here and help me find myself?

Obviously! It is all about being confident and sure of yourself. Which are qualities that all heroes should have! A true hero embraces all the bad shit as part of themselves because it is just a small part of the big wedge of junk that makes them who they are.

I didn't think about it that way before.

I used to get hung up on that shit too! But then I remembered Vriska making this really cool speech about how you don't have to be a good person to be a hero and it all made hells of sense.

She did some super deplorable shit, but it was all to save multiple universes from Lord English! So that is kind of a super exaggerated version of what I mean. Embrace the bad shit! Own it.

[This is not a view Danny has ever considered himself. But he has to admit...being responsible for over 100 peoples' deaths, it is very appealing.

Still, he has trouble wrapping his head around it.

So it's like...it's okay if you do bad stuff, so long as the good stuff at the end outweighs the bad?

Exactly! It is all about balance. Like I bet Hitler petted kittens and that didn't make him a good person! And the same goes for the other way around. Even heroes can do bad stuff once in a while!

Well...

I guess that makes sense. Especially with how crappy things seem to get for us sometimes.

[much as he doesn't want to trivialize anyone's deaths, it makes him feel a lot better about essentially being a murderer. Surely, by Tavia's logic, he's helped enough people as Cure Phantom to more than balance that out by now, right?
