To the employees of Espresso Yourself:
The owner and manager, Lazarus Lawliet, has been hospitalized, along with your coworker Tony, and it is uncertain when they will be returning to work. While they are both alive, they are far from well at the moment. This will, in no way, effect your employment, paychecks, or living arrangements if you are currently residing in the lodging area. Deliveries will be made as scheduled this Friday evening, and business is expected to continue as usual.
If you have any questions about the weekly schedule or would like to request time off, I will be handling the management duties until L returns. For those who are concerned, I will keep you updated on L's and Tony's conditions as best as I can.
Thank you for your time.

I'm sure they'll be glad to hear they have supporters.
[She's not sure if they will or not, really. Both of them have either been sleeping or too drugged to hold a conversation in the times she's stopped in so far.]

I've been told they're going to start edging Lazarus' dosage back tonight and continue over the next couple of days. I'm not sure how much the two of you spoke, but would you like to know when he's responsive enough to talk with?

...have we spoken before? About cutting ties with your family, wasn't it?

[She doesn't see it, but she's also used to her own handwriting.]
It may have been better to type it out, then. I apologize.

No. I think, in this case, it was something much deeper than that. I'm hoping to get the entire story from him once he's able to talk about it.

[A pause, followed by a hesitant penstroke before she continues]
Or, at least, I hope he would have told me if I was.

so it was something to do with him and not the store in general. weird. it's not as interesting if the store staff isn't in danger.
