Part One

[Cecil is usually a very careful and conscious driver. However, he has not slept well in days, and has been terribly preoccupied with recent events such as the appearance of murderous cultists and the mysterious portal between Vegas and Locke City. As it is, he almost fails to notice the fluffy thing suddenly crossing the street, but manages to break the USPS truck just in time.]

Oh dear!

[Heart pounding in his chest, he exits the truck to check on the physical and mental state of whatever he almost turned into roadkill.]

Part Two

[The puppy is cute and obviously loved. Her owner must be terribly worried, but Cecil has no idea where he should start looking. And so he phones the only cop he really trusts and asks Eugen to meet him at a perfectly suburban park bench under a perfectly suburban beech tree, mercifully away from the hellish neon lights and scary tourists. After all, neither Cecil or Floweregg need any further stress in their lives, do they?]

Part Three

[The tiny white puppy - race indeterminate, but there is a lot of fluffy white fur involved - is pressed to the ground, shaking and just staring at the truck when Cecil gets to her. SHE DID NOT SEE THAT ONE COMING.

The mailman will be able to pick her up without much ado, as her reaction to it will be significantly belated.]

[The puppy will be asleep in Cecil's lap by the time that Eugen shows up, utterly exhausted form the trip through the teleporter, the hours of trying to find her friend and then the shock of almost becoming roadkill and being picked up by a total stranger.]

[Oh no, it is tiny and cute. He picks her up, very carefully, and pets her fur almost frantically. He is not one hundred percent sure about how to comfort a dog, since neither his boarding school or grandfather ever allowed pets, but he has watched commercials and movies before?]

I am so sorry! So sorry! Please, forgive me.

[He carries her back to the truck, checking for an ID tag.]

[She has one of those electronic ID tags that are small enough to fit in the collar, so he won't quite be able to get any information from it.

But at least she stirs in his arms, though still shaking, and makes a pitiful whining sound. It's all confusing and she is scared and she's been more and more worried for a while now, and also has entirely no idea where she is...]

[ He's honestly puzzled why Cecil asked to meet instead of telling him what's the problem over the call. Still, it's not like it's a big deal so he agreed anyway. Not knowing he's about to meet his favorite puppy, he heads off to the location Cecil asked for. He actually appreciates the chosen spot because he's about done with Vegas unnecessary need of obnoxious light choices. He waves at Cecil when he spots the mailman and approaches him, noticing the ball of white on his lap. ]

Hey. What's up?

[But it makes sounds!

He keeps whispering how terribly sorry he is while examining the puppy inch by inch. Once he is positive she has no injuries, he wraps her in a warm quilt - because good mailmen always have those in their trucks - and moves to the back seat with the dog burrito in his lap. With a sigh, he strokes her fur, stopping to scratch behind her ears.

Please, don't be scared.]

It is all right, it is all right. We are going to get you back home.

[The truth is that the socially awkward mailman was too embarrassed to tell him what was going on. What if Eugen is too busy rescuing kidnapped hotel owners and has no time for lost pets? The life of someone with a pistol permit sounds so needlessly exciting! So if he is not interested Cecil will just...invite him for tea? Do people like Eugen even drink tea?]

Ah- Hello, Mister Lambert. How are you? [ He follows his gaze and attempts to sound as casual as possible, which is not at all. ]Er...I found this young lady today.

[She perks up a bit at "home" and looks up at him. She... doesn't really want to go home, she came here for a reason! Though right now she'd really love to do that...

But she's calmer now, and will start to shift to get more comfortable, so that Cecil has a squirming burrito in his lap.]

[Still asleep, Floweregg moves a bit, maybe hunting butterflies in her dreams. She's used to people talking over her head, her mistress and mommy do that a lot.]

[The burrito is warm. Nobody told him dogs were like little hot water bottles, so he wonders if that is normal. He allows her to move as she pleases, his voice becoming a little calmer as well. He is so grateful he didn't run over her. He promises himself he will do his best to sleep as soundly as possible from now on, even if he is terrified of cultists breaking into his apartment.]

See? There is nothing to worry about. I wonder if you are hungry or thirsty?

Just Eugen will do. [ Nobody calls him Mister Lambert, not even his students back when he was a TA at the LCU, it's weird and besides, he's not really a "Mister" material.

He's honestly surprised and a little miffed to be called out for a lost puppy when he has other things to take care of, namely the cultists and his Gundam. But Eugen's love for animal sort of override his need to be annoyed so instead of telling Cecil outright to take her to the animal shelter, he sighs and lowers himself to look at the puppy. He hasn't realize the puppy is Floweregg yet since most puppies look alike. ] Is she not wearing a tag?

[Floweregg will mostly stay with Eugen while she's in Vegas, but every once in a while she will go exploring alone. There are a couple of ways to meet her:]

A. The Marriott - villas
Floweregg is staying in one of the villas that Petunia offers to reincarnates. She can be found all over both of them, though, generally getting up in people's business, watching TV, playing with things or stealing snacks.

B. Teleporter/The Marriott - pool
Sometimes, she'll just sit near the teleporter outlet and wait if someone is coming out of it.

C. Out and about in town! She's getting used to navigating her way to the parks, so she can either be found on the sidewalks on her way there, or in one of the parks - playing with other dogs or taking a bath or just lying on the grass or walking around.

[She definitely is thirsty, and a bit hungry too, but... she's not sure if she can talk to this person. Is he safe?

So she simply raises her head at the mention of hunger and thirst and looks at him, willing him to understand that yes, both are the case. ...And he looks really tired and shaken and like he needs some common sense in his life. He should get a dog, tsk. So he'll get a nudge with her head.]

I cannot read it. It is one of those...modern tags. [He looks truly guilty for having disturbed Eugen, so he quickly shows him the tag without waking up the napping puppy.] The poor thing is exhausted, I think. I believe she has come from far away.

[Her assessment of the state of Cecil Keller is pathetically accurate. He pets her head, a little surprised at her response.]

I believe that is an yes?

[Without further ado, he wraps her again around the quilt, making sure she has plenty of space to move, and then finds her a safe place inside a spare box in the back seat.]

Please, try to rest a bit. We will get home in five minutes or so.

Ah... [ He never understands the point of these modern tags that obviously inconvenience Good Samaritan more than necessary. ] Well, in that case, I suppose we'll have to take her to animal shelter to get the chip... [ For some odd reason, the more he looks at the puppy, the more familiar she looks, until it clicks... ] Wait a minute... Excuse me! [ He gently raises the puppy's head up to look at her clearly. He can't be sure but for some reason, he's really thinks it's his favorite puppy. So, he tries to wake her up carefully to avoid startling her. ] Floweregg? You're Floweregg, right?

[The waking still startles her and for a moment she tries to jump to her feet and is about to bark, but then Eugen's voice registers and she starts wagging her tail instead, though still getting up in Cecil's lap to greet her friend] Eugen! I came to visit you! [All worries are forgotten (Cecil took care of her really well, so she wasn't acutely troubled anymore even before she fell asleep).]

[Sorry, Floweregg and Eugen, Cecil has just tumbled off the bench and fainted on the grass.]

[Floweregg jumps when Cecil suddenly tumbles off the bench, angling for Eugen's arms in her panic and falling completely short, thus hitting the gorund hard and rolling a few inch until she hits his feet.

KAJSHDAS?????? WHAT IS GOING ON]

[She looks at him for a moment but then nods and rests her head on the soft fabric around her. She's not sure where home is, but he seems safe and good and that clearly are reasons to put aside stranger danger and just rest a little bit. Because she really is very exhausted.

...she'll be asleep in no time.]
