Sixth Bite [Video]

[There is a rather agitated looking Emilia appearing on video today, this time she is outside rather than at her computer, broadcasting from her phone. Despite her eyes being hidden by sunglasses, it looks like she hasn't gotten a wink of sleep since she was told Dani hadn't come home. She certainly hasn't turned up at her door either.]

Her uncle having a heart attack was bad enough without her cousin going missing soon afterwards...]

Dani's gone missing. [She rubs her free hand down the side of her face.] My uncle's had a heart attack yesterday and Dani's sister blamed her for it... Dani's run off because of it, I can't find her anywhere since yesterday.

I don't if she's hurt or been taken... Or simply hiding.

If anyone has seen her, I have to know.

[All she can do now is keep looking. Until she gets a response, the feed ends and the phone is put away in a pocket.]

((As per Dani's hiatus, she's run off for two weeks. She'll be found either by Emi or someone else around the end of the hiatus, hungry for blood but unhurt.))

[He's spoken to Dani, though he doesn't know her name - or the connection!]

[Emi's voice is tired, and worried...]

She's been one of us for quite some time. I can't get a response, let alone find her. I don't know if she's refusing to answer it, can't respond because she's lost her pulses... or worse.

How -- [Hoarse.] -- obvious is she...? I-is she a mutant or has it been only -- ...

[Her having no means of self-defense would be all the more worrisome, certainly, but if she'd be difficult to pick out then that's at least one less hostile party who'd see to it that it is something worse.]

Quite obvious. She has a pair of very strange wings... Some kind of metal looking frames with crystals hanging from them. Normally she can hide them in a backpack.

[Thankfully, she has a way to defend herself...]

[It's a mental and conversational detour, he knows, but he's stumbled a moment on trying to fathom the image!]

They're more like a mobile. I don't know what those crystals are made of, but they're in several colors.

[Quite an image, indeed!]

And -- do they work...? [Can she fly, he means - that sort of apologetically pitches higher at the end for both the awkward phrasing and the fact that it's plain prying wondering that's at the front of his mind when he asks.]

Hmm, I don't think so. I think she can fly anyway.

[Well, she doesn't see the harm in answering.]

That -- could or couldn't be a good thing, then - [On one hand, she's noticeable, and on the other, she has a method of escape.

Coughs, flinches down into a flash of thought, what else can he say...]

Has, uhmm -- a - any-anyone else, um - said anything? -- Yet - ?

Whoa seriously? Where was the last time you saw her?

We need to find her as soon as we can!

Yesterday morning. She ran off in the afternoon and never came back.

What do you think I'm doing? I'm looking right at this very moment!

I'm just trying to help but I don't think she could have been very far!

What does she look like? I'll try to see what I can do before I go!

She's about nine, blonde with a side ponytail and has some kind of iron wings with glowing crystal things hanging from them. She usually covers them up, though.

[What can Abby do on so little time? She needed to get ready go to up to New York but she couldn't just ignore someone's help! Yea, there was the police but things could get a little tricky with them.

Oh well, might as well give it a shot!]

I can't say I have seen a girl who looked like that before though.

Have you tried talking to the police yet? Yeah, there are some jerks who work there but there are some that aren't that big of a jerk!

I'm sure by now any cop sympathetic to us is looking for Dani. She's not been answering me if I try to contact her, though...

I'm sure she will be okay. I mean, if she's on the network, she probably has some cool awesome powers to help out!

I don't really know her but she got to have something to protect herself! No one would dare go up against a little girl with badass powers like hers!

Ah, yes... She certainly has gained some powers, she's even able to create copies of herself.

[Some people just aren't so lucky when it comes to powers.]

See, that's something! She might be young but I think she can protect herself just fine! Since she's able to make copies of herself, people will be confused and they'll give up trying to find the real her!

[Of course, there was always that chance they really could find her but there was no way Abby was going to tell that to her up front]

If she's been missing for over twenty-four hours, I can declare her a high priority missing person and deploy several officers to search for her.

[Maybe she already went to the station, but the order coming from him should get more attention than just another missing persons report.]

I think it's getting close to twenty-four hours by now. Any helps's welcome.

[She did, or rather her parents did, but she didn't expect anything to be done.]

One thing you should know, though. She's one of us.

[As soon as their chat is done. Her being a Numbered only changes the units he'll call out for it, really. Some of the officers aren't Numbered friendly.]

Is that why she had been blamed for her uncle's heart attack?

He's her dad, and my uncle.

Dani's been sneaking out a lot lately, says she wants to help since that giant snake and worrying us all a lot. My other cousin, her sister, said some things she shouldn't.

What exactly did her sister say?

You mean [Dani's number here] right? I have some places I can look for her, but all things considered, she's likely just run away.

Yes, that's hers. I'm trying to contact her over the network, but she's not replying. Also, it's been almost a day... I would have heard something from her by now, I'm sure of it.

Considering how things have been recently, I wouldn't be surprised if she's being a bit evasive. Communication was never her forte and as much as she's improved recently, I think it's still hard for her.

Haven't seen her, but if I do manage to find her, I'll let you know. [He doesn't know her well enough to know if he can get a read on her with his sixth sense, or he'd try that.]

Why is she blaming her?

Ever since Dani became numbered and started changing, she has been insistent on helping out and had been causing a lot of stress for her dad... Her sister's particularly upset about him taking ill like this.

[ Pause. ]

Ah. I see.

The stress probably helped in triggering it, yes. Still, that is hardly fair on her. Unless she actually wanted to give her father a heart attack.

It's not fair on her at all. Something like that happening to her dad was upsetting for her enough without Roselle making it all worse.

Hopefully her sister will come around once it all blows over. I will keep an eye out for her, although I am not sure I know who she is. What should I look for?

[She'll look up at the sky, take a deep breath and then glance back to Emi. She was a little nervous to start the search, mainly because she wasn't sure if they'd find Dani or not.]

I am. [Emi will make sure she keeps looking, at the very least, confident enough, and hopefully that will inspire it in Robyn.]

Last time she ran off... it was there, past the clinic and further into the dead district.

[If they looked on the outskirts of the district, they would have better luck finding Dani.]
