Who: Rakka Yoshitoshi and Raye Satterfield/Later on, Isaac and Miria
Where: Random Alleyway, Locke City/The Dians residence
What: Rakka has a run in with the mafia and then she gets saved.
When: August 3rd
Warnings: General violence, mafia shenanigans.
What a nice afternoon for a walk home. Rakka walked briskly down one of the downtown streets, trying to get back to the Dians household following a busy morning of looking up some information in the library. She'd cut though the streets and ended up going down an alleyway. It wasn't the best shortcut, or the first one she'd choose, but it would get her back to the Dians house faster. As she got farther in though, she found her shortcut was blocked by a man, standing in her way.
"....Uh..." Rakka stopped, confused. There weren't usually people here, why was someone here now? Rather than confront them, she decided to turn around and leave. The way, she found to her shock, was blocked by a few more men, each of them slowly advancing into the alleyway towards her. Confusion slowly mixed with fear, and Rakka backed away from them. "Ah.... what... who are you...?"
No reply. They just continued to advance.
Fear turned to panic, and Rakka continued to back away. "What do you want!?"
"To deliver a message." The man that had originally blocked her way replied, he too advanced on her, all of them trying to prevent Rakka from escaping. She looked around frantically, searching for a way out. "Now, this can be easy, or it can be hard."
There was little doubt in Rakka's mind that these were members of the mafia she'd heard about, the ones that attacked Expresso Yourself, And Rakka wasn't going to stick around and find out why they wanted to talk to her. She fled, trying to run around the three men, but one of them managed to grab her by her coat. They struggled briefly, but the thug won out and yanked Rakka back, losing her coat in the process and exposing her wings.
"So she is one of them." One of the men remarked, eyeing Rakka's wings. They stayed away for the moment, hesitant in case she had any powers, but they were still getting closer to her. Panic overtook Rakka, and she grabbed her magic staff, holding it out in front of her. "Get away from me!"
She opened fire, sparks of electricity and sounds of fighting erupting from within the alley.

"Raye. Wait."
She stopped short at Senketsu's warning, blinking down at the outfit. "Huh? What's up?"
"Something's happening. Can you hear it?"
Raye frowned, lifting her head and listening until she caught the sounds of violence.
"... Yeah. What the hell? Is it those bastards again?"
Scowling, she took off at a run, following the sounds even as the sparks and flashes of light soon faded away. It took awhile but before long there she was, staring at the sight down the alley for a moment before a familiar rage began to bubble up inside her.
"HEY!"
no subject
By the time Raye arrives the fighting has died down and the sparks of electricity have ceased to be. And when Raye finally reaches the spot, she'll find that the fighting had ceased. Rakka was caught, her hands held behind her back by one of the men as another stood in front, yelling at her. her magic staff was on the ground a ways away, smoke drifting slowly into the air.
"You see that!" The man shouted at Rakka, gesturing to one of his companions, who was convulsing on the ground, bits of electricity coursing over his body. "We don't take too kindly to your kind doing stuff like that!"
"Stop it! Just leave me alone!" Rakka struggled against her captors, stll trying to get away from this horrible turn of events. Instead of listening to her, the man balled his fist and drove it into Rakka's stomach. She doubled over, gasping and coughing.
Raye's shouting drew their attention. "Who're you supposed to be?"
no subject
The guy shouting in her face was bad enough, but when he hits the other girl right in front of her it sets her blood boiling.
"I'm the crazy bitch that's gonna rearrange your face!" She casts a glance downward. "Senketsu!"
"I'm ready!"
She was already starting forward as she clamped her teeth down on the pin in her glove and yanked it free. The stars spring up around her before she even takes a step, red rapidly flooding her clothing and dying it a deep red before the threads spring free and wrap around her again. Then, there's one final flash of light and she's there in a flash, throwing a punch at the goon that had hit Rakka.
At the last second she did remember that she didn't actually want to splatter the guy like a tomato. So her punch is pulled.
A little.

Rakka coughed quietly, still doubled over in pain. She looked up blearily as the fight started, tears in her eyes. "Raye... be..."
One of the other men charged Raye, fist raised to hit her while she was still distracted and moving faster than a normal human should be able to move.
no subject
Yet.
She scowled, watching the first guy go sailing away from the force of her punch and moved closer to Rakka, glancing down at her warning.
"Just stay there a sec. Everything'll be fine." She looked back up as the other man came at her, watching as he rushed in far too fast for a human being...
... and then casually caught his fist in her hand.
"Looks like you guys got some power ups too." She tightened her grip on his hand, turning her wrist to slowly twist his arm. "But this is still a joke compared to the last fight I was in."
no subject
The fact that she would catch his fist wasn't something the man was prepared for, especially coming from someone that looked like Raye. There was even surprise on his face before it mixed with anger and he tried to swing at her with his other fist.
no subject
If the mobster looked angry it was still nothing compared to the expression on Raye's face when he tried another swing at her. This one, she caught as well, grabbing onto his arm and then twisting both arms aside before yanking him forward to eye level with her. And then she reared her head back and drove it forward to smash her forehead right into his face.

The relative silence that followed that victory ended when Rakka was pulled to her feet again, the thug restraining her putting Rakka in between himself and Raye. "Stay back, and she wont be harmed!"
no subject
Letting out a low growl she started toward the last guy then stopped when he held Rakka between them. Damnit. She was pretty sure she could just bulldoze this shithead but she couldn't count on being able to control herself enough not to do the same to Rakka in the process.
"Not how it's gonna work, buddy." She folded her arms, glancing at Rakka and getting another surge of violent anger. This shitstain had hurt her and all she wanted to do was smash his face into the brick until it left a smear but something held her back. She had to make sure Rakka was okay... that's what mattered here. "But if you let her go right now, I'll let you carry these other fuckheads outta here."
no subject
It did make her feel a little better seeing Raye toss these guys around like they were nothing. The guy holding her was certainly scared by it, knowing he probably had no chance against her in a fair fight.
"We don't take orders from you!" He barked, not moving from his spot. Something seemed to occur to him. He released one of Rakka's hands, only to grab onto a handful of her feathers. "Stand down, or the angel girl gets plucked!"
"Ah...!" Rakka flinched, frozen as every tug from the wing in the man's grasp sent a small shock of pain though her. "R-Raye..."
no subject
No, same problem. Actually, even worse. Every time she swung the thing, it smashed everything in front of her to bits. Or at least... it did when she was transformed....
Raye sighed after a few seconds and shut her eyes. Sparkles flashed around her and there was a short burst of light as Senketsu turned back to normal.
"Raye, what are you doing?" Senketsu looked up, concern clear in his voice.
"I got an idea, just hang on a second." She whispered back, before turning her attention to the man with a cocky grin on her face. "There, feel better? You gonna run off now, dickbag, or you wanna see if you do any better than those other turds?"
no subject
"Shut up!" Rakka winced as the last thug yelled in her ear. He was nervous, the rest of the men were all downed, and Raye had barely worked up a sweat. The only smart option would be to run.
But, she was defenseless now, so he had a chance. So, he threw Rakka to the ground, obviously hurting her, and charged Raye, this time confident in his abilities.
no subject
Fuck, he was coming straight for her. Suddenly, the thought struck her that this was a bit different from the fights she'd gotten into in school. This guy was a decent amount bigger than her too.
The short distance between them left her no time to transform again, or go for the weapon she had stored away. Only one thing left to do... one stupid thing that was hopefully going to catch the thug by surprise.
She balled up her fist and swung right for his face.

Meanwhile, Rakka was trying to pick herself off the ground, just barely registering that fighting was still happening. She hoped Raye was doing better than she was.
no subject
Raye blinked when the guy slipped past her punch and off-balance as she was there was nowhere for her to go when he countered. His fist slammed into her gut and she coughed out a rush of breath, stumbling back with an arm around her stomach until her back hit the wall.
"Shit--!" Wincing, her free hand scrabbled at the pouch at her side, going for the weapon there.
no subject
The thug let her stumble back, enjoying that he was beating her, after she had shown so much strength. He was about to attack again, ready to punch the smug grin off her face.
"No! Leave her alone!"
Something hard slammed into his back, making him stumble. It was Rakka's lightning staff, powerless but still heavy enough to hurt when she threw it at him.

Her hand closed around the Scissor Blade in her pouch... and then the Echo hit. Hollowness washed over her and her movements slowed for a second, before Senketsu's voice snapped her out of it.
"This is your chance!"
What was that? An Echo, but nothing had appeared and she didn't get any new memory... fuck it, she could worry about it later. She yanked the Blade out and unfolded it to its full size in an instant and then she let out a half-crazed yell as she swung the blunt, curved edge of the heavy weapon at the man's knee.
What she didn't yet realize was that her swing was carrying far more force than a seventeen year old girl should be able to muster up. Even with adrenaline rushing through her veins.
no subject
Luckily, her hopes seemed to be answered, as Raye pulled out her scissor blade and swung it. There was no where to dodge this time, so the blunt end easily hit its mark on the man's knee.
For the second time, a cracked echoed in the alley, although this time it was worse than before. A sick crunch that told anyone around that bone was definitely being broken. All the smugness in the man's face disappeared and he collapsed to the ground in agony.
no subject
Not one that was going to stop her though. Fueled by adrenaline and rage at seeing her friend hurt, Raye pressed forward, and delivered a sharp kick to the side of his head. And then another.
"Motherfucker!" She spat at him, flipping the Scissor Blade in her hands and holding it tightly. "Don't ever touch my friends again, you piece of shit!"
"That's enough! Raye!"
For once, she ignored the Kamui's shouting and held the Scissor Blade up over her head to bring down on her downed opponent....
no subject
Only, it seemed it wasn't. Rakka watched Raye as she kicked and beat the downed man. "Ah.... Raye? Raye, it's... it's over..."
But she didn't seem to be listening to her, which only made Rakka's worries worse when she raised her scissor blade above her head.
"Raye, don't do it!" Rakka shouted, trying to get her attention at least.

Her heart hammered in her chest and the same relentless anger that had driven her to attack and fighting during the Wise Snake attack spurned her on here again, linking with something else that burned in her heart and her arms and called for her to destroy this threat to herself and her friend. Her shoe thudded into flesh and bone a few more times, she held her weapon tightly and began to swing it downward.
... When Rakka's last ditch shout broke through and she froze in mid-swing, eyes wide, breathing hard. Wait, when had she...? Didn't she say when she was fighting transformed that she didn't want to kill anybody? When had that turned into wanting to take off somebody's head.
"That's enough, Raye." Senketsu's voice rolled upward, quite and gentle. "You've already won this battle and done what you wanted to do. There's no reason to continue."
"R-right--" The point of the Scissor dropped to her side and she stepped back from the man, shaken, but she quickly recovered herself and looked toward the other girl, gingerly reaching a hand toward her. "Hey, let's get out of here."
no subject
But, at last, they were the last two standing; they were bruised and battered and sore, but they were still standing. The alley was a mess now, Rakka's jacket completely destroyed, although she still had her hat and her staff. At this point, she didn't care about hiding her wings, she just wanted to go home.
"..." She stared at Raye's hand for a moment, reaching out for it with her own, showing a scrape up her arm from where she landed on the asphalt. She took it and stepped forward, embracing the other girl.
"Thank you..." She said quietly, her body shaking with quiet sobs. "Y-you saved me..."
no subject
Her hand closed around Rakka's then she blinked in surprise when the winged girl suddenly closed in for a hug instead.
"H... hey." She hesitated when she felt Rakka crying against her and slowly wrapped her free arm around her shoulders, mindful of her wings. "Come on, save the waterworks, okay? We still have to get outta here."
no subject
She didn't want to cry right now, it just stated happening. All the pent up anxiety, all the fear from earlier cascading over Rakka. There was no way she would forget what happened here, no matter how hard she tried.
But, she does pull away when Raye suggests it, still holding her hand. She nodded. "Y-yeah..." she sniffed. "Right. Let's... get out of here before anyone else shows up."
no subject
Her jacket is gone, wings exposed, and she appears to be covered in dirt and bruises. There's a scrape up her left arm too. Generally, she looks like she had been through quite a bit, and it showed on her face.
"Guys...? Are you home?"
no subject
"Yeah." She gave Rakka a small smile, squeezing her hand before putting her Scissor away and after a thought dropping an arm around her shoulders again to lead her out of the alley.
She only looked back at the last guy one time to spit at him over her shoulder.

"We're just reorganizing so-

"RAKKA!"
"HONEY!"
They aren't really. Sure what to do when they get there. If they touch her, will it hurt her? So they just hover over her nervously, feeling kind of useless.
no subject
"I... I was in an alley, and all these mafia guys showed up." She trembled a little, already wiping her eyes. "I couldn't get away, and they started beating me up, and if Raye hadn't saved me..."
Yeah. She's sobbing now. Her afternoon had been very emotional.
no subject
"Raye's a great friend like that...."
"She knows how to handle big ol' jerks who probably have no friends..."
"Because they're jerks."
"Yeah."

Damn it. Why is this happening. Why do great people like Jacuzzi and Rakka and Jasmine and Raye and everyone they know keep getting hurt. They've been so nice to the couple, the greatest friends they could ever manage to have. And people keep pulling things like this.
It just doesn't make sense to the Dians.
Their ramblings trail off and they just take a long, long moment to hug their surrogate daughter.
no subject
She'd gotten friends, and even people she really, really cared about. And the Dians... they'd become so much to her.
They were like family. And, as she hugged both of them tightly, she realized that she wouldn't be able to handle it if anything happened to one of them. So, she'd be here for them, their guardian angel who can't fly.
