o7 panic attacks | Audio

[Nice is home. She's in bed asleep, and wrapped up in bandages and Jacuzzi is... sitting in their living room, kind of just waiting for her to wake up. He doesn't need the sleep (he'll eventually pass out in the wee hours of the morning, but for now) he'd rather wait to see if she needs anything. Help or medicine or--

He can't sleep right now anyway. Out of the hospital, his mind is buzzing. He finally has a break to himself when he's not waiting for nurses or doctors to go through, where he's not putting on his best face for Nice. He's not the one hurt, after all. But the anxiety is creeping in again.]

I-I don't get it, guys. We knew it was gonna happen. We knew it could've happened and we couldn't stop it, anyway. Me and Nice--

Everything's going weird with us. Every time something happens and we get an echo, we--we keep being more and more like the guys we remember. And every time we remember something, we can't stop it from happening. We can't stop anything... I can't stop anything.

I don't get it. I don't get why we're getting these--I don't get why she had to get hurt! W-what's the point of this anyway, why are we gettin' these if they're just there to hurt people?! Nice and I aren't getting any crazy powers, we can't fight aliens, we're just--

We're just normal!

So why is it happening to us?!

[Since he seemed even more nervous than the last time they'd spoken...]

Your friend was hurt- by an Echo?

Calm down. I know it must be frightening, and even horrific, but you must stay calm and stay strong. I'm sure your friend must sorely need you right now.

Are you physically all right, yourself?

Badly hurt, you said? Has she been to the hospital?

It isn't your fault. Please don't blame yourself. That cannot possibly help anything.

Deep breath.

The most you can do is do your best to tend to her. Have faith she'll recover, with your aid.
