Who: Karl Aurion, Katie Evans
When: Monday, 6/23 around 6pm
Where: Around the city
What: Katie ran into some bullies and Karl goes off to the rescue

[Today was suppose to start of like any other day like usual. She went off to her friend's house, stayed there for a little while and immediately go straight back home once she was done. After all, with school over, there was almost nothing left to do. Her parents wanted her to go to a camp but she refused. There was usually nothing to do over there anyway so why bother wasting money on stuff like that? And besides, she wanted to spend some time with her grandparents anyway....

However, as she made her way toward a bus stop, she couldn't help but notice a few things. For one thing, she was aware that there were gangs that might be lurking around but she usually ignored them. This time however, she couldn't ignore what was going on. When there were high schoolers picking on a much smaller kid. She normally would care less but seeing that poor kid being picked on? Well, maybe she could do something about that.

But still...]

[There are days that suck. Is today one of those days? Karl is no longer sure. Suddenly having an old friend rush up to you and punch you does count as bad. Seeing the old friend and him promising to tell all of Boston you're alive can o both ways.

Maybe the punch had been deserved, but was it really necessary to hit so hard? Who knew Jay had that in him. A hand reaches up to poke at the swollen area and the action instantly gets regretted. Ow ow ow. It hurts worse than it looks. Does it look bad? Probably does. A trip to the hospital might be in order. Later. For now, just continuing on this walk to help clear his head sounds a good plan.]

[It's by chance that the teens approaching the defenseless girl catch his eye. What draws his attention even more is the glistening of a knife in their hands. Those eyes hidden behind sunglasses narrow. No one is getting shanked on his watch.

Briskly and calmly, the police officer heads on over to the group. His makes sure his gun is very plainly visible. No idiot kid would try to use a knife against a gun. Factor in intimidation and those kids will run with their tails between their legs.]

What seems to be the problem here?

[His voice comes out loud, clear and very authoritative. He stands straight and tall. The uniform coupled with the gun add onto the authority feeling radiating off him. Simply put, Karl screams intimidating right now.]

[None of the recognition comes from Karl's end. Right now, he's far too focused on giving the thugs a dirty and intimidating look (even hidden behind sunglasses, that look still could be seen easily enough). If the look isn't enough to scare then the sharp, almost menacing tone of voice should. Try to attack her, try it. He dares you. Gun vs knife: that fight has a very obvious winner.]

Well?

[The next words out of their mouth better be NO SIR. Even better would be no words and running away. Yes, running away has a nice ring to it. Now do it, kids, before you get in a fight you can't win.]
flamberge: (temperance -- bluntly put)

[personal profile] flamberge 2014-07-08 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[Karl's expression remains unchanged. If anything, he seems more annoyed than anything. Dumbass kids without an ounce of logical reasoning.]

A large teenager in possession of a knife approaching a child with a rock paints the child as the one in danger. Were I to search her, I would find nothing dangerous. As for yourself, how many illicit narcotics were I to find if the same were done to you?

[This is your call kid. Karl can do a full cavity search right here and now or you can just leave like a boy.]
flamberge: (temperance -- do not cross me)

[personal profile] flamberge 2014-07-12 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Karl doesn't waste time in reacting. He rushes after the kid, grabs his wrist with enough force to BADLY hurt it, shoves said arm behind the kids back and slams him hard into the closest wall. The amount of force used isn't inhuman or brutal; just enough to drill home the fact who exactly is in charge here. His tone of voice adds to the authoritativeness, being icy cold and almost holding a dangerous tone to it.]

You have two options: I can call in for back up and have you arrested for your stupid stunt just now not only to be tried for your stunt just now but for whatever you have on your person or you can run away as fast as you can while I'm feeling nice.

[The only reason the kid's being given a choice? Because dragging in a little girl to testify against a scumbag like this is too much. Kids don't need experience that so early on in life.]
flamberge: (temperance -- bluntly put)

[personal profile] flamberge 2014-07-16 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[Karl appears about as bothered by the threat as an elephant is by a fly. Annoying as it buzzing around is, it poses no actual threat.]

Because other gang members will stick up for a grunt in the trouble with the police force all due to his own reckless stupidity which began with an attempted assault on a child.

[Really, dumbass, use your head. No gang member will stick up for you, especially when kids are involved. Actually, adding on this fun little fact may not be a bad idea.]

You are aware that many individuals who harm children are made into prison bitches in every sense of the word, correct?
flamberge: (temperance -- a tad irked)

[personal profile] flamberge 2014-07-22 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[Karl shoves the kid's arm into his back just a little harder. Taking scum like this to jail right now would be a waste of time. No crime had yet been committed and it'd be a hassle Katie's best kept out.]

Yes, however, be warned: should I see you again or hear of you accosting children, I will order a full inquiry into your gang and whatever business they conduct and will make it well known that you are the cause behind this investigation.

[In other words, kiddo, you'll be a dead man walking. Karl gives him a moment to come to this conclusion himself before speaking once more.]

Do I make myself clear?
flamberge: (temperance -- do you ever think?)

[personal profile] flamberge 2014-07-23 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[The yelping doesn't get a reaction from Karl. If anything, that coupled with the response indicated that his words finally got through to the kid. Good. His voices comes out icy cold, if threatening, upon speaking up again.]

You have 10 seconds to get out of my sight before I call for back up.

[With that, he spins the kid around and gives him a solid push forward. The action screams 'I mean so here let me help you get lost.]
flamberge: (sagacity -- observing)

[personal profile] flamberge 2014-07-27 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Karl watches with a glare as the kid runs off. He will have to issue a memo to get more patrol in the area. That can come later though.

Once the kid is gone, his attention shifts to Katie. No realization about who she is comes. All she is to him is a poor kid who got caught up in a pain in the butt situation. A quick once over reveals no injuries. She seems a bit shaken if that stepping back is any indication, but nothing beyond that. The glare shifts into a far kinder, if gentle expression. No reason to freak her out any further by looking like a menacing monster.]

Are you all right?
flamberge: (valour -- default lineface)

[personal profile] flamberge 2014-07-29 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[Super hearing helps make even teeny whispers come out loud and clear. Nice as it is to be thanked, the look on her face took away from the niceness. It's clear the kid is scared. This might be why Karl's voice softens all the more upon speaking up again.]

Not at all. Do you require a ride home or anything of the sort?

[Bus fare or anything else? Really, the least Karl can do after that is help the kid out if possible]
flamberge: (charity -- probably Lloyd again)

[personal profile] flamberge 2014-07-30 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure.

[A simple request. Karl reaches into his pocket only to freeze. Shit, he left his phone on his desk at work, didn't he? First getting punched, then dealing with an idiot thug and now a forgotten phone. Today really is against him, isn't it?]

Would you mind accompanying me back to the station? I seem to have left my phone there.
flamberge: (charity -- please stop.)

[personal profile] flamberge 2014-07-31 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Okay, that niceness snaps off his face almost instantly and becomes one of the most deadpan expressions ever. He is NOT dealing with this teenage bullshit right now. Stranger danger is a thing; suspecting it of a cop who just saved her from an armed assailant barehandedly is annoying.]

Kid, I've had a long day. Either you walk the four blocks with me to the station or I go by myself.
flamberge: (valour -- this is how we talk)

[personal profile] flamberge 2014-08-05 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[Now was that so hard? Ah well, at least she agreed to it. Good enough given how today's been going. Karl looks decently satisfied.]

You'll be home soon enough. Let's go.

[With that, he starts walking. Hopefully the kid'll follow, too.]
flamberge: (charity -- what is my life)

[personal profile] flamberge 2014-08-10 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[He resists the urge to sigh. Gratefulness he hadn't expected; moodiness is just the icing on a very bad cake.]

A little over 4 blocks.

[Please don't complain about the walk. It's far shorter than it sounds. At least, it feels short when you walk frequently.]
flamberge: (charity -- what is my life)

[personal profile] flamberge 2014-08-15 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Silence comes from Karl's end in response. Chatting with someone so grouchy right now (and to their savior. thanks) feels right down the path of migraine. A sigh comes at the thought. Between punches and brats, he might just have a beer when he gets home. And maybe watch some old cartoons. And maybe buy some of those fruit snack things. And pretend that things like bad choices don't bite you in the ass in the future.]
flamberge: (sagacity -- don't get cocky)

[personal profile] flamberge 2014-08-19 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Her striking up a conversation is definitely unexpected. With that attitude, the last thing she seems like is someone who'd willingly chat him. Karl complies with the attempt at talking. Sadly, the guy fails at casual talking.]

Just taking a walk. [He glances over at her.] Yourself?
