[closed] father's day fun
Who: Karl Aurion, Lloyd Irving
When: FATHER'S DAY
Where: Karl's apartment
What: A son gives his dad something for father's day.
[Ah, father's day. A day disliked for so many years. The first dislike happened after the death of his own father, the second happened after the death of his son. This year, however, it doesn't feel that bad a day. It may not be great, but he doesn't want to try to get it canceled as a holiday, either. Not a bad feeling.
Having the day off work is a nice little bonus, too. Good as things are getting, not needing to deal with the clean up for a weekend can only be called amazing. Karl happily plops down on the couch with a plate of spaghetti minus the meatballs (those take effort to make; heating up Prego doesn't). What to watch, though? Hmm when was the last time he watched a good movie. Too long. A quick browse through various channels and whatnot reveals a childhood favorite: Ferris Bueller's Day Off. He had actually gone to see that in theaters back in the day.
A day that was so very long ago. Any thoughts regarding the fact he had been 16 at the time and is now nearly 44 get pointedly ignored. It proves a tad difficult given how many come. Karl still manages. though, if barely. No, thoughts about aging or not aging or anything similar are not happening now. TV now. TV and spaghetti. Yes, perfect way to spend a day off.]

odd because Lloyd seems to be lost MUCH more often
This year, however, he was feeling a ton of extra pressure. He had two fathers to cover now, and one hadn't gotten anything throughout most of his life. He was pretty sure he was just going to find each of them a card, but at his dad's insistence, he'd tried to do something extra for the father that had been missing out.
It had taken a lot of work he thought, though Dad insisting he make changes didn't help any. But it finally met his approval, and now he had been dropped off to surprise him. Lloyd still wasn't totally comfortable with this. For one, the thought of not having Father's Day with Dad sounded strange to him. But he was going to see his father. Maybe it didn't have to be about thanking someone for raising you...?
He stood in front of the door, gripping a small package in one hand. He took a moment to breathe, then knocked on the door several times.]
well he has to get that from somewhere.
Upon opening the door, any sign of irritation vanishes. Karl blinks. Well now, what an unexpected visit.]
Lloyd? [Worry suddenly replaces the confusion.] Is something wrong?
[Lloyd wouldn't come here for no reason. Had something happened? Is he in trouble? Did he run away from home?? Is the mafia after him? ...Okay, maybe jumping the gun about what happened, but worrying like crazy comes with being a dad.]
point.
The fact that he seemed so surprised was not something Lloyd had expected. He had honestly wondered if he would think this was too late in the day. Not that breakfast in bed or anything like that would work (and he never did that for his other dad, anyway), but this was one of those days people seemed to have a lot of expectations about.]
What? No. I'm here cause it's Father's Day and stuff.
no subject
You came here because of that?
[Confused Karl clearly sounds and looks confused.]
