It's like a movie franchise in the making [Closed]

Who: Torin and Mimi
What: ~~Secret agent animals!~~ Torin has decided to check out the Thundercorp barrier while it's down. Mimi has decided to check out the Thundercorp barrier while it's down. Neither knows the other will be there. Shenanigans ensue.
When: June 18, around 3 PM
Where: Around the Thundercorp compound in the Dead District.
Warnings: Talking animal shenanigans. Parrots with swords.

It is very easy to sneak into places where you might not necessarily be welcome when you are a ten-inch-tall parrot. Most people do not notice parrots, even if they are bright blue. This becomes a little bit harder when you are a parrot with arms, and a little bit harder still when you are a parrot with arms who is carrying a small sword-shaped letter opener as though it were a real sword. But this is exactly the situation in which Torin has found himself. When he heard that Thunder would be letting the barrier down, he knew he had to act.

So he'd waited until he knew they'd be shutting the forcefield off, and he'd flown into the area as stealthily as he'd been able. Now he was perched atop a lamppost, scoping out the area and trying to plan his next move. Nothing could go wrong; he had this.

Mimi was getting thoroughly tired of being left out. When she overheard the news, she decided that it was high time to check things out for herself.

Although she relied on her human form at first to get out of the apartments, she quickly switches back to her normal appearance, following her nose on over to Thundercorp. It's very lucky for her that by the time she'd arrived, the barrier was already down-- without much thought, she simply trots on in, sniffing around to see what sorts of scents she might catch.

...?

Does she smell a bird somewhere...?

Torin spots the cat from his perch. It's only natural; he's still a small parrot, and some part of his parrot brain is still wired to keep an eye out for potential predators. He wonders if he should go say something, but...

...wait, what is he thinking? That cat can't be trusted to act with enough sense on her own on a mission like this! The parrot flits down to land beside her. Landing beside a cat might be dangerous, but hey, he's got a sword. "I see we both had the same idea."

She immediately starts, her back arching up and her tail flying into the air, hissing on instinct until she realizes who it is.

"What are you doing here?!!"

She keeps her voice low, but with her annoyance, it's probably louder than than completely necessary at the moment. Ugh, stupid bird! Why does he always have to show up at dumb times?

"The same thing you are, I'd imagine. I'm investigating." Torin is keeping his voice much lower, at a level that might be considered an appropriate whisper for this sort of thing. "Which would be easier without so much noise."

She could scream, just for you Torin. Good thing she's the better ~~person?~~ critter here and therefore above that.

Instead, she continues with her harsh whisper.

"What can a stupid bird do that a cat can't?!"

"I have a sword and I can fly," Torin says simply. "I believe that both of these things are useful skills that you do not possess." Just telling it like it is, cat.

"What are you going to use that for? There's humans in there." Excuse her disbelief that his little sword will do much. He's just a bird after all.

"And I can jump, anyway!"

"There are humans, and those humans might be hostile. I am prepared to defend myself." There, is that so hard to understand? "And flying is far superior to jumping."

"I can jump on you before you can fly away--"

Unfortunately, her voice raises a little too high. From nearby, a sound of a confused guard can be heard.

Just like that, she's dashing away from the area, her bounds as quiet as can be. She stops only when she's crouched in the dark, ears perked and alert for dangerous sounds.

Seems even she can be smart... even if it's after making mistakes.

Torin wastes no time in flitting away to perch on a gutter, safe and out of the way. He still has his tiny little sword drawn, though he doesn't really want to hurt the guard. He's thinking he'll slap the guard upside the head with the flat of the blade to knock him out in a worst-case scenario.

"Weird, I thought I heard something..."

And away the guard goes. To be fair, he probably wasn't looking too hard for a cat or a bird of all things.

Mimi slowly steps out of hiding, locating Torin just so she can give him a good glare because this is totally not her fault.

Torin pokes his own head out of hiding, checks to make sure the coast is clear, and then emerges. He calmly preens a couple of feathers on his chest. Bothered? Him? Not in the least. He flits back over to Mimi. "Perhaps we should formulate some sort of plan."

Because he's not letting this cat go on her own. It's too risky.

The bird has a point, but she's not about to admit it, judging by the way her tail continues to stand on end.

"Fine, what kind of plan do you think we should have?"

At least she's keeping her voice down for sure this time, although the disgust is as blatant as ever.

"We need to decide where we're going--we should have a target in mind. As well as a plan for the worst-case scenario if they see us." Torin starts drawing out a series of squares in the dirt with the tip of his sword. "This is what the place looks like from above."

She tilts her head, looking over the map.

"Why don't we just go inside? Humans don't notice as long as you stay quiet and out of sight."

"We can do that, yes, but part of planning is determining where we should go inside and what we should do if we're seen," Torin points out. He scratches at another point on the map with one of his toes. "This spot and this spot seem to have the least traffic, from what I've observed."

She continues to stare at it, though it's pretty clear none of this is really sticking all that well.

"If we're seen, we just run, right?" Seems like the simplest solution to her.

"Well, you would run. I would fly. And we should still have some plan worked out in that scenario; perhaps I could provide a distraction to give you more of a head start."

"I don't need a head start. Humans can't catch me!"

Her tail begins wiggling around with quite a bit of agitation. There's no reason she should have to rely on a dumb bird! "I hid earlier and they didn't even notice."

So there!

"But inside, there will be fewer places to hide where a human can't get you or see you," Torin points out. "It's best to plan for all contingencies."

"Contin..." Darn it bird, stop using complicated words. Thankfully, she at least understands the gist of it.

"How do you know that? If there's cupboards or things, I can hide in those."

"But if you hide in there, there is always the chance that they would find you and use the cabinet against you--you would be trapped in that cabinet if they cornered you!" Come on, cat, look at the big picture!

"Then I'll claw and bite them." Simple as that. Or at least, that's how it was in her mind...

"I want to see what's inside already!"

"But what if they're wearing very thick gloves? I've seen them use those in dealing with the larger zoo animals--a large organization like this would be ready for anything a housecat could do." He sighs. "I would like to see what is inside as well, but I would also rather neither of us get hurt in this endeavor."

"Then I'll turn human and slap them instead."

Her tail high in the air, she begins trotting back to the building. "I don't need a bird to protect me. I can do it myself!"

"That could turn even more disastrous--you don't want them to see you change!" With a huff, the parrot flies after her. Clearly, the cat needs a babysitter.

To tell the truth, even she wouldn't want to change in front of them. It would expose her secret, after all. But she's not about to say that in front of the dumb bird.

She puts on her best I-Am-Ignoring-You face and, a bit more seriously this time, begins to approach the door. There are still human guards of course, but they're watching for other people, not a pair of small animals...

Torin lands on the ground next to her--a bird in flight is quite possibly more likely to attract attention than one walking on the ground--and follows after her. He's tiptoeing as much as a parrot is capable of the act, and if they keep it slow, perhaps the guards won't notice...

She keeps her pace quick, very inconsiderately padding on ahead without any regard to Torin's progress. Cats, man.

However, she does seem to realize what she's doing. Once she's close enough, she darts right past the legs of the guards, carefully staying out of their range of vision all the while.

It took Torin a bit of doing--parrots were never meant to be ninjas--but he also manages to slip past the guards. He'd like to berate the cat and point out that they really do need a plan, but it's far too late for that.

Mimi, on the other hand, shoots a smug look back to him. See? no problems.

The hallway is empty for now, which is good. Her ears are up and ready to pick up on any sounds, but for now she'll just trot in like she owns the place - though she does at least have the sense to stay by the walls.

The parrot has, by this point in time, decided that remaining airborne and perching on doorframes just might be his best bet. He's also trying to make sure he's avoiding any security cameras that might be about, even if that means perching on top of them and carefully disconnecting any exposed wiring.

At least one of them is on top of the security cameras - Mimi doesn't even seem to know what they are, so she makes no attempt to avoid them. Babysitting indeed!

She does eventually slow to a halt, however, looking up at him in irritation while her tail waves around. Just what is he doing? She really should just leave him behind!

Torin gives a long-suffering parrot sigh as he finishes up with the camera and flits after the cat. Really, this is why he had wanted to plan--so they would avoid this sort of thing.
