Second Bite [Voice]

[There's the slightly tired sounding voice of Emilia showing up on the network today. It seems someone's been having some difficulties with her new pules.]

I'm not in the least bit happy about it, but my little guess about my past self possibly being a vampire was right.

Normal food doesn't seem to do anything now, I can eat myself out of house and home but still be hungry, clearly I need something else. And since I have fangs now, I can only assume that it's blood that I need.

The only problem is getting it, and I'm not going to go around biting people for it. Basically, I have to go around raiding blood banks now, that's hardly a way for a Stacojiu to act! Surely there's a better way of getting hold of blood that doesn't involve biting or stealing?

This is going to sound a little creepy I guess, but have you tried animal blood? You might be able to get some from a butcher or something, rare as those are here in Locke.

[The reply, after a moment, comes in video form, seated at her computer is a girl of sixteen with her hair a light brown and her eyes a much darker shade of brown.]

I've tried it, but it didn't really help much at all...

Oh damn, that makes things a bit harder then. Have you tried human blood then? Or is that a not yet thing?

[It really didn't taste terribly good at all, but it had kept her going, just about.]

Well... Only a few drops at most.

[She looked a bit uncomfortable admitting that.]

[He pauses with quick and mild intrigue on the general message - but first matters first, gets his brain moving.]

Uhmm. There is -- someone here, who... offered blood to - previous - vampires... [Shakes his head faintly, neutral flicker in his face.] -- But I don't know -- if she's still able...

[He stops short for now - isn't sure if he ought to indicate her until it's pressed.]

[Well, color her interested, that's got her full attention. First, though...]

I don't think I got your name last time.

[A pause, and then she continues.]

Anyway, anything you can tell about this woman you've heard about is useful.

Uh -- of course...! [It lightens.]

-- And I apologize; it's er -- Anthony Janvier.

Her -- [Strong start - and then he cuts it off - any apologies due willed on to her in spirit, if he oughtn't be soliciting for her unpermitted...] -- her name is Brooke Reynolds; uhmm -- she's a mortician...

[Tapers high.]

She uhh -- helped me with things in the past, also.

[A short pause, and the teen continues.]

Nice to make your acquaintance. [He seems nice, despite being... gross looking.]

I'll need to see if she's available. [Hopefully.]

Good luck -- ... [Coughs.] Nice to make yours - also.

Er - Emilia, rr - correct -- ?

You made it, I see. [There was a slight edge of relief in her voice.]

It's not too bad at the moment, but it's getting worse. Animal blood doesn't do much, I've tried it.

You did, too. [Arthur was fine with a lot of things. People could be terrified of vampires, but in terms of viewing people as 'monsters', he wasn't sure vampires were all that bad if they wanted to keep their impulses in check.

It was the same as dealing with any person who could hurt people, anyway.]

I bet you've already gotten suggestions, but... Do you think you'll be alright?

There have been vampires on the network before. At least one of the doctors or emergency personnel on here I believe managed to supply them with blood from a blood bank.

How are you feeling now? All right, or can you wait a bit for someone to get you something from there?

[He'd offer, but... his blood probably won't help.]

I don't think I ever got your name... [In any case, she's happy he's willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.]

I've gotten one so far, and if it works, I should be fine. If not, well...

...I suppose I'll work out something.

I think I can manage for the moment, I'm not quite sure how long I can wait.

[Non human blood wasn't nearly as effective. It kept her going, but that was about it.]

Maybe you can ask for donations from the numbered among us? I'm sure one of us has to actually know about drawing blood and all that.

[A sigh at that. She'd prefer not to essentially live on handouts, but you know what? To hell with pride.]

I'll consider it. I can't imagine many would want to have their blood drunk, besides.

Well the only other option does seem to be blood banks. [She shrugs a little being rather stumped as to what sort of advice she might still be able to offer.]

Look, I'm willing to give you some of my blood as an experiment if you like... I'd just not prefer to be uhm bitten.

Frankly biting seems... unsanitary. But I'm willing to try this little experiment.

[Well, she seems a little relived, at least.]

Now we just need to find someone able to draw blood. I'd prefer that to something like slitting a vein open.

[And if any of her friends caught wind of this they might freak out at her for cutting.]

Well, no need to do yourself an injury. I wouldn't know who to ask for drawing blood, though.

I knew a doctor, but he sadly left Locke to be with his family elsewhere. Perhaps some polite inquiries on the network will turn up at least one person who knows how to draw blood... you know without cutting.

Well then, I'll see who I can find.

[Because there has to be at least one person that can help her out. Or give her a way to get bloodpacks without needing to steal them.]
