let's go fly a kite
Who: Sailor Tamaran (
chernobolt) and Sailor Azarath (
titansno)
When: This afternoon I guess?
Where: All over Locke despite Rachel's best efforts.
What: GIRLY SOCIALIZING TIME aka Kara is going stir crazy from finals and is forcing Rachel to be a normal extroverted person with her.
[as much as Kara loves her major, she's been going cross-eyed from how much she's been staring at various dissertations on black holes and luminosity formulas lately. technically her finals aren't over yet, but she's fairly certain that if she waits that long she might actually drop dead - and it's not like Rachel said no when she'd texted the night before about whether this would be a good day for their semi-planned excursion.
she'd made certain that it was impossible for Rachel to escape some degree of socialization, albeit unintentionally, by deciding to meet at the other girl's home rather than some predetermined place in the city. Kara had done it so they had the opportunity to be flexible in their scheduling, but what it really meant was that even if Rachel decided to play exhausted or something she was going to have a Ukrainian in her home anyway.
it feels like forever since she's been outside for anything except coffee and food, and the expectant energy reflects in the manic way she pounds on Rachel's door. she's in a bright chartreuse sundress to celebrate the spring weather that's finally slunk in, long braid bobbing behind her as she rocks back on her heels and waits for her buddy so the adventure can begin]

Yeah, Kara? Your friend looks a lot more like that girl from your memories now. The eyes, the hair, her skin...]
Uh... hi. Look, I know what I said, but...

What is the matter? Are you unwell?
no subject
... Come inside. [she doesn't want to do this with one of them on the street. Rachel pinches the bridge of her nose lightly, muttering a string of irritated Yiddish as she turns around to move back enough to let her in comfortably, before facing her again you'd think she wouldn't have to spell it out.]

Oh! Oh my goodness!
[yeeeeeep. there it is.]
no subject
I haven't really gone out in a while.

Kara's frown deepens and she leans in slightly, caught somewhere between wanting to be polite and wanting to get a better look because obviously that will help her help her friend. somehow. probably. she means well.]
Do you no longer tan?
no subject
... Kara.]
That's your first priority.

It is just that if you are still capable of such a thing then there is an obvious solution to your problem!

[and then you could claim minority status on all of your government forms OK NO BAD JOKE]

[NOT HELPING, FRIEND]
no subject
[SHE'S AN ASTROPHYSICIST, DAMMIT, NOT A DERMATOLOGIST]
no subject
Forget it. Let's go.

[she clasps her hands in front of her, looking a bit uncertain. Kara wants to go out, yeah, but she doesn't want the excursion to be at the cost of Rachel's comfort]

[aaaand just like that she brightens up again. Kara's got no reason not to take Rachel's words at face value, and she's really been looking forward to this outing for a while now]
Where shall we go first?
no subject
[well, she has too. so. Rachel starts towards the door, gesturing for Kara to come on.]
no subject
[not that you'd know it from the way she bounces after Rachel. if this is low energy her usual day to day state is frightening to contemplate]
no subject
Not exactly my field, but it might be a place to start. [what the hell, why not let Kara pick the first place. Rachel opens the door, heading out.] How'd you get here? I'll drive.
no subject
[she giggles. oh man oh gosh no only does she get to share SPAAAAACE with a friend but she doesn't have to pull out her big public transit map and plot out the most efficient route to maximize transfer points]

[you live in the middle of nowhere most of your life
and probably drove a tractor into town at least onceand transportation is not really something you're fussy about. Kara hops into the passenger seat as she talks, taking a moment to smooth her dress down before buckling up.]no subject
So, how are finals going, anyway? I've gotta say, I don't miss them...

[she sighs deeply]
I am glad that it has caused me to memorize many different formulas, but I am beginning to worry that I am going to be seeing calculations even when I sleep.
