First Aid!
Who: Stella Lancaster (
astion) & Ravindra Savarna (
healspec)
When: Saturday 3rd May
What: Ravi invites Stella to come to the clinic to practice her healing.
Where: Mordin's clinic
Warnings: None. At least initially.
[Okay, so it's after five like he told her. She's perhaps a little early, just to be on the safe side, but she doesn't mind if she has to wait a little bit. Really. She is patient, so she half expects to be waiting a little as she enters, looking around and immediately heading to the front desk, asking the person on duty there if Ravi has arrived yet. She hopes he hasn't and she isn't keeping him waiting for her....]
Oh, he's not in yet? That's okay. He did say after five. I probably am a bit earlier. I don't mind waiting, I'll just take a seat.

[he's dressed in white scrubs, a black long-sleeved shirt underneath it. he's only 5'4" but built like a tank, kind of scruffy, shoulder-length hair tied back. he doesn't notice Stella when he comes in, completely ignoring the occupants of the waiting room on his way to the back.]
[until, that is, the person staffing the front desk stops him and points her out to him. he gave his name as Surya over the network, but all the staff know that's a nickname he uses, so there's no confusion about who Stella was coming to see. he pauses, a hand on the door, and turns to look over the room.]
[ok but which one is she pointing out...? omg he should not have agreed to this, now he's nervous and he isn't even sure how to approach this at all.]
[quietly double-checks with the front-desk staffer to make sure he's got the right person, and then turns away from the door to approach Stella]
You are looking for Surya, yes? [he's got a new delhi accent on top of his californian one, not heavy but definitely noticeable]
[and he's trying his best to make eye contact but maybe cheating a little and focusing on her eyebrows instead. eye contact is really hard ok.]

When she hears him, her green eyes widen and look up at the question.]
I--yes? I'm Stella.
[Yeah it. Has yet to occur to her the idea about using some sort of alias around the network and numbered. Oops. She notes the accent, curious but not yet commenting on it.]
no subject
[but curled up with a book while she waits, that he notices. he approves. that's his own preferred method of passing time while waiting on someone.]
Surya.
But here, you can call me Ravindra.
[he straightens, steps back, giving her room to stand.]

[Stella exclaims, admiring his forethought as she packs her book in her bag and stands, gathering her hoodie and holding it in her arms. One hand extended to shake his in introduction.]
So, where do we start? The clinic doesn't seem as huge as I figured. At least, from what I noticed from the outside.
no subject
[...oh. handshake. uh. yes, he knows how this works. there is a brief delay before he accepts her hand for a shake, and then he just kind of...pretends it didn't happen... why are social customs so hard why is he so bad at this]
[a-anyway. he turns away, motioning for her to follow him into the back where the exam rooms are.]
It's not a very large clinic. Here-- [he stops at an open door, gestures her into the exam room]
First, I want you to show me what you can do.
no subject
[She smiles, perceptive enough to tell that he seems kind of awkward and shy about the whole social thing. Stella doesn't mind, doesn't mean to make him uncomfortable. Following him into the exam room, she places her bag down and gives a hesitant nod.
It's okay. You can do this, Stella. You've done it before.... She tries to reassure herself, taking a deep breath as she uses her keys to cut at her hand. Blood drips before she closes her eyes, willing the cut to heal, her uninjured hand over the cut one as she feelsthat familiar flash of light and warmth from when she healed others. Opening her hand, she shows him it's now fine. Perfectly healed.]
I can cure more minor injuries at least. I'm not sure if it might just be temporary and fix the worst of it, but I figured I'd ask about helping. Practice so I can try to echo back better healing.
no subject
[speaking of discomfort, he realizes just a bit too late what she's doing with those keys, moves as if to stop her, but winces when she draws blood and stands back to wait and watch. arms half-folded, one hand over his mouth. dammit, he really should have been more clear.]
[because wow how irresponsible is it to expect a teenage girl to heal her own injuries as a demonstration when he's a grown adult, medical professional, and experienced healer?]
[when she's finished, and shows him the end result, he lowers his hand to fold it into his elbow]
Ah--I meant, on me. [a reluctant correction.]
But, nevermind. [he waves it aside, and steps closer to take her hand and inspect where she healed over the cut. first visually, and then by placing his own hand over it and running some magic through it to see if there's anything out of the ordinary going on under the surface.]
[his magic is a soft golden glow, and warm, like direct sunlight on a pleasant summer day. he's basically checking for anything that would differ between an uninjured hand and her healed injury.]
no subject
But she still worries, using it on others. Whether her healing would be enough to help them. Which is why she showed him with her own hand, letting him take and examine it after she healed. His own healing doesn't feel too different from her own. The light, warmth. It surrounds her, emitting a soft sigh as her shoulders droop a little at the sensation.]
Sorry. I still....kind of get a bit nervous with others. I mean, whether my healing would be enough. I can't heal anything too major yet. And even then I am not sure how long my healing lasts, exactly. If it's just a sort of temporary thing I can use to help until they get proper care.
no subject
[finished, he pulls away, releasing her hand and drawing back.]
It seems fine. [he couldn't find anything wrong with it, anyway.]
If it re-opens later then we will know it is temporary. If not, then we can test your limits after.
Even if it is only temporary, a skill like that still is useful in an emergency.
no subject
That was what I thought. Even if I can't do too much with it yet, I'm sure it could still help. I figured....it's not like I could use it to hurt anyone, and I know some people are still...uncomfortable around us so there is a chance we might get hurt. Or even trying out the echoes. Even if it is just temporary it should still help and be enough to help fix things until we figure out how to help them properly. I could help others with better healing powers with larger injuries, perhaps.

[instead he just gives her a nod, because she's definitely thinking on the right track.] If you want to become a regular volunteer at the clinic, there are other things you can help with, also. I can train you with records and patient intake.
It seems like a small thing compared to healing magic, but it is a big help.
no subject
[If that is where she starts off from, she doesn't mind. Really, she just wants to help. To use her skills where possible. It feels like a responsibility to do so. She has this ability to heal, it would be wrong not to use it to help where others need it, after all. Or so she figures. She does worry for the numbered, hearing of attacks and abuse because they are different. If she can help with that, prove they aren't all fearsome and angry, out to attack....well. It's a step in the right direction at least.]
