[Aaron takes the bag. Mordin will probably be thrilled, he thinks. He gestures for Shiro to follow him.]
I'll see to it. Now, tell me about what's been happening. You said you were vomiting stomach lining -- has this ever happened before?
[He'll lead Shiro into a small examining room. It looks like there's equipment already set up for a blood transfusion: he guessed that one might be necessary. He just has to get the blood itself.]
no subject
[oh good. Inside the bag is one of Shiro's small glass mixing bowls covered in foil, containing a lovely little cocktail of blood, stomach acid, and chunks of stomach flesh.] Be sure to keep it in the glass bowl cause... it ate through the plastic bags I put it in at first. [he looks at his fingers, which have a few sores from the acid. Oops] You can just chunk that bowl. I never want it back.
[he shakes his head and takes a seat on the exam table, holding back another gag] No-- never. And I've had some pretty bad food poisoning before, bad enough to go to the hospital. [he groans] But I've never lost chunks of stomach in it before.

[Aaron will disappear down the hall for a moment. When he comes back, the glass bowl is nowhere to be found, and he has a bag full of a needle, two vials, some tubes -- blood test equipment. He ties a band around Shiro's upper arm and sets to work taking the blood samples.]
Did you notice anything unusual right before this happened? A pulse, a lightheaded feeling, almost as though you were hollow inside?
[Because this sounds supernatural to him. It's not the first impossible physiological change he's seen here, not by far.]

[meanwhile, Shiro just sits on the bed and doubles over, groaning again. The pain wasn't as bad as before, at least. The first few attacks had been the worst, so bad he'd almost blacked out. When Strider comes back, he holds out his arm and looks away, hissing a little at the sting of the needle. But hey, it took his attention away from his stomach fora few short moments.]
Kind of. I was.... rrgh... I was at the art gallery. Someone on the number network thing said I should go check it out if I was still suspicious. There was no one around so I touched one of the statues to see what it felt like... haha... [he scrubs his face. Damn his curiosity] Then I felt a weird sort of sensation that I can't describe, then I felt so nauseated that I had to leave.
[blood tests will, in fact, show that he is type BO with a positive Rh factor.] ... It's not just a stomachache, is it.

[He'll disappear and return with a bag of blood -- and what looks like a cup of tea. It smells really great -- fresh and clean and a little sweet.]
Drink this. It will help.
[Yup, it's athelas tea. It'll soothe Shiro's stomach and speed up the healing process.
Then, Aaron sets to work on the transfusion, talking as he does so.]
You're not the first who's come to me with complications. Your body has changed. How, I can't yet say. But I'll see that you're stable before you leave.
no subject
He cleans his glasses while Strider is away, then takes the cup of... tea? He narrows his eyes at it and then quirks a brow at the doctor. He wasn't expecting some sort of herbal hippy crap. But it does smell really refreshing and so he sips it. At first, his new stomach rebels at having anything in it at all, especially something made of plants, and he chokes a bit. But then the soothing effect comes into play, and it feels like a cool compress being applied across his whole abdomen. Subsequent sips go down much easier.]
What do you mean? "Changed"? I mean... I know what that means but what does it mean? [how many times are you gonna say "mean", Shiro. But he does seem legitimately concerned.
As for his transfusion, it's a little difficult to get a vein on this guy; not because they aren't completely and totally visible under the surface of his unpigmented skin, but because they're a bit collapsed from blood loss and dehydration. Have fun poking him a few times, doc]
no subject
[He hands Shiro a rubber ball, then goes to get a vein.]
I haven't yet had a patient die of their physiological changes - most seem to self-stabilize - but one did come close. There's no telling yet how extensive the differences will be.
[...this is difficult -- the dehydration is bad. Aaron stops talking, focusing on getting the vein.]
no subject
[he squeezes the ball with one hand and finishes off the tea in his other hand]
... that's sort of reassuring I guess. [he frowns and flexes his arm as much as he can]
no subject
A-ha. There. They're in business. Aaron doesn't talk until the IV is secure and the transfusion's begun.
Then, he clears his throat, turning to look at Shiro.]
I highly doubt it. Your condition's already improved. The transfusion should take care of the rest. But I want you to take it easy for the next few days, all right? Drink lots of fluids, and when you feel up to eating, start with dry toast. Oh, and no alcohol.
no subject
I do feel better... my stomach isn't roiling anymore. [he laughs] Dry toast? For a chef? You're killing me, doc. [he already feels less lightheaded. Ahhh.. it was amazing what a little blood could do.] ... man. Do you want to know something really weird?
no subject
[He takes the mug of tea and starts to tidy up the sterile plastic sleeves that were for the needles.]
Mmm? I'm listening.
no subject
[he frowns and rubs his stomach]
You'd think after all that stress, I wouldn't even be remotely hungry. But... I feel like I could eat a horse.
no subject
I don't know much more about your changes than you. These paranormal shifts are like nothing I've ever encountered before. But I'll tell you this: your hunger and your damaged stomach are likely linked.
But I will give you some general advice: for the next several weeks, keep a food diary. Note what you can and cannot eat -- what sates your hunger and what does not.
If you experience any more complications, you know how to reach me -- or my colleague, Dr. Mordin Solus. He has a number, as well, and can be trusted.
no subject
Great. I was worried you might say that. [of course he'd been worried that might be the case. After all, it made sense for two things happening to his stomach to be related. But what did it mean?
He nods at the advice] Alright... I'll do that. And yeah, I got your numbers off the network. [he holds up his phone] Put 'em in my contacts. Just in case.
no subject
[And he'll break the gaze and go back to what he was doing. His tone is businesslike but not heavy.]
Do you intend to continue to see your general practitioner?
no subject
I... hrm. Not sure. Is that a good idea? I'm so paranoid now.
