ten sick, disgusting thoughts | mixed media
[the image below appears on its own as a separate post on the network, shortly before the explanatory text post. it's a page from what looks like a composition book.]

Hey, numbers club. It's me, Brooke, again. I've been taking some notes lately—that's the page I sent here a few minutes ago. I couldn't figure out how to get them out of my notebook and make a post at the same time, so sorry for spamming the place. This is getting kind of long, so I'm going to cut it.
Anyway, there's some... I guess inconsistencies that I'm worried about. Right after we saw the light in the sky here in Locke, a bunch of weird things started happening. (Understatement of the year.) These little creatures started showing up called vermini. And then bigger ones. And then a huge one, a vermaxi, crashed Rachel's Halloween party and put a lot of people in danger. I haven't heard about anything like that happening in Vegas, so that makes me think they're Thunder's creation. But keep an eye out anyway, okay?
Because there's always the chance that they weren't created by Thunder and they were... beamed here or something by the light in the sky. Or that they cause the light in the sky as, like, some kind of beacon for something bigger. I don't know. I just think there might be something going on that those aliens that visited don't know about. Maybe they have another rogue agent on their hands?
Oh, right, and the brain thing. Thunder had this brain in a jar or something kept hidden away that we found on an expedition. I didn't take any notes on that but I could probably find them if I went back far enough. Anyway, I want to say that whatever it was probably got destroyed in the snake's rampage, but I've seen too many zombie movies to believe something's dead without seeing a body. Metaphorically.
I'm mostly just thinking out loud with this post, but I guess if anybody has any more information or wants to shoot my theories down or whatever, feel free. Just no flame wars. ;)

And then we can find out more about it and... I don't know what we'd do with that information, exactly. But it can't hurt our chances.

Let me know what she says.

How are you doing otherwise? I wanted to talk about what I said at the party, but I realized there wasn't really much else to say.

I knew I was important to you but I did not realize it went so deep.
In the interest of fairness, what I said was that I let Xander's brother die in an IED attack.

I'm sorry I was so glib about the whole thing. Wow.

[it's not fine, really, but he preferred the glibness over being made to confront it right then and there.]
People were injured. I made a bad call and helped them in the wrong order.

I can't blame you for what happened. You did everything you could. We both know that it's impossible to save everyone.

[she's starting to understand some of what makes Ravi tick.]
I'm still learning how to deal with mistakes like that. I wish I could offer something more constructive to say.

I thought I moved past it, but I guess not completely.

I don't think I really need to say it, but I still think about them. The people who got hurt in the earthquake. Who died. I never even brought myself to see Winter in the hospital.
This isn't really something they train you for in school.

The earthquake was your fault as much as Conleth's death was mine.
We can blame ourselves for it, but no one else will.

If I'm being absolutely honest, I'm really glad we can talk about this with each other. This is kind of a lonely job sometimes, and I'd feel weird going to counseling just for something like this. I guess what I'm saying is thanks.

[every time he tried to talk to Alex he got shut down or brushed off... so they couldn't even talk about it before they had that huge fight, either.]
Or maybe you can thank me, but I should also be thanking you.
I don't know what I would do without you around.
