[The message starts off with a few unevenly-spaced dots as he taps his black biro against the paper. His handwriting is spidery and sprawling, but legible.]

Well, don't I feel special.
One minute I'm minding my own business and the next I'm having a string of numbers pushed into my head and finding my way around this merry fucking mess.
That was rude, by the way.
What if I was driving or something.

[dot... dot dot]

Either this is working or I'm getting concerned about making an ass of myself for no reason.
If it isn't then who would even give a damn anyway.

I have a few. Especially since the FAQ is about a month and a half behind. After the giant snake attack, some things have changed.

You've seen the news about the alien broadcast and the light in Vegas, right?

I can also tell you more about echoes since the FAQ is very barebones about those.

I have no personal experience with item echoes, but as for memory and abilities, you'll experience the same sensation as the first time. A hollowed out feeling and a heartbeat like sound.

Memories are jarring. You'll remember something from the 'other you,' which is the best term for them, and they can differ. You may only get an emotion, or a picture, but it can also be a full memory from their perspective.

As for abilities, they are a bit trickier. For some reason, I did get one where I was able to control the ability right away, but for the rest, they're a mystery. It can take some experimentation to figure out what you received, especially if you don't remember what the other you could do.
ghostly_heiress: (Well it's this and that)

Not necessarily.

If you mean whose a numbered in general, as far as I know it may as well be random. No one is exactly sure what the other life is, parallel, reincarnation, or something else. Somehow we fit the bill. Family does seem to be a trend, either family here, or people will discover others on the Network who were family in the other life.

If you mean for the echoes, there is a pattern.

There are two means for an echo to happen. The first, and the one that everyone experiences eventually, an echo that the situation causes. All the strange things, the aliens, the giant snakes, things to do with the pink light, if we interact with them, it'll usually prompt an echo.

What it prompts seems to be random.

The other way is what I'm calling deja vu. People will have an experience and that experience will cause an echo. However, unlike with the aliens, the echo prompted seems to have to do with the event in question.

For example, if you were a baseball player in the other life, and played baseball for the first time here, you would echo back something to do with baseball. At least that is the pattern that I've been seeing.

Though it's a more tentative theory that the incident has to be new. If you were always playing baseball, you won't get an echo.

At this point, yes. If there's still an enemy about, they do have a means of tracking us once we're started getting echoes. I don't think amount can really change that.

At this point, it really becomes a question of how curious you are, and what the chances are that you think you could get something back to deal with whatever they might throw at us.

At the very least, it doesn't seem the other life has to change who you are anymore than other experiences would.

I don't believe we have much in the way of villains on the Network, but I may have just missed it.

However, yes, powers have been coming up. I received one myself.

It's a bit like an internet forum, but more specific. At least that's how I've been treating it. It's hard to trust everyone has good will towards the group as a whole.

I don't think it's rude, so long as you don't treat people as a freak because of it. I think most understand it's just fascinating.

I have what basically amounts to hand blasts. They're not very strong, at least right now, but they've got a good amount of concussive force regardless.

More or less. You never know what you might get, so it's best to keep an open mind of what you might encounter here.

It was. First time I got it, I shot one of the tinier snakes in the face during that whole attack. [Which was AWESOME, if absolutely terrifying.]
ghostly_heiress: (Eh whatever man)

Well, alien things do like prompting echoes. Most of them give me ability echoes, save for one time.

Though they aren't always that convenient. During the snake attack, I also actually knew how to work the ability. I haven't figured out the rest I got at all.
