[Video/Action | 4/4, 14:58 | Locke City High School student pickup]
Sitting outside the school is a blue Chevy Tahoe, stickers barely removed, temporary license plate taped inside the rear window, a gentleman in his forties taking a piece of plastic off a back door handle before returning to the driver's seat, after taking a brief look in the back to make sure the sets of luggage are secure in the trunk. As Winter steps out of the school's front door, he moves around to where she can see him, and when their eyes meet, she looks past him, to the vehicle he's standing in front of. Recognition dawns in her eyes, and she runs the rest of the distance, wrapping her arms around him tightly with a big smile before turning and waiting for the rest of the students coming along behind her. Pausing for a second, she pulls out her phone and punches in her number, switching the video on, and making the camera record her for a second.

"Hi, everyone... as I said a while ago, we're about to leave for Las Vegas. I've wo-worked out the details, and the last thing I had to do resolved itself today. This... is mine." She touches a button, and the camera switches, recording the vehicle she's now standing in front of. "It's brand new, and there's space for everyone that was going to come with me. Everything is in place... now we just have to get everyone together and leave." The camera switches back to Winter's face. "If anyone needs to say anything, to me or to anyone else that's g-going... now is the time. Once we leave Locke City, I don't think we'll have access to the network until we get to Las Vegas. I'll have my phone on, but... I would rather not have to deal with emergencies once we're under way, and I'm not turning around for anything short of a sinkhole swallowing the city."

She takes a deep breath, smiling at the camera. "We're going to be out of contact for a few days, but... I w-want everyone to know that we're going to be as careful as we can manage, and everything is going to be okay. My father is coming, and he's not one of us, so we get distracted, he can get us moving again. If anything happens, there are people I can contact that are on the network, even while I'm outside. So... at this point, we're just about ready to leave. I would appreciate y-your support and your well-wishes, but beyond that... everything is in our hands."

Grinning and nodding, she finishes: "This is goodbye, everyone. See you... on the other side." And the feed goes dark.

[4/4, late afternoon and evening | I-80 between Pennsylvania and Indiana]
The sense of adventure is strong in this car, even through the fact that everyone has a whole lot of fuzzy pieces in their memories, and more than a few are finding something feels physically off, too. Regardless, everyone is excited to be on the road at last, probably. Seats will shift, gasoline will be stopped for, entertainment will be had, dinner will be eaten at some point, drivers will rotate, and people will talk. And talk. And talk. What are you doing, brave adventurer? (Or curious numbered with Winter's cell number?)

[4/4, late night | About 100 miles into Indiana]
It's very, very late, and the decision was made that they probably shouldn't drive through the night. That's brought them to a decent hotel, maybe 80 miles outside South Bend. Not that Winter was terribly concerned where they were; only where they were going. They're splitting three hotel rooms: two for the girls to split between them, and one for the two men on the trip. Rick is being surprisingly progressive and not enforcing anything other than forcing Russel to sleep in a separate room from the girls, which is probably a good thing. For her own part, it's just about midnight by the time they're settled and changed and ready for bed, and she doesn't have the energy to stay up too much later. But if someone wants her to, she'll try.

[4/5, morning and daytime]
...And yet she did stay up far too late anyway. So it's a Winter that seems a little tired, ever so slightly cranky, and occasionally drifts off when not driving that's riding along today. She's also a little bit less focused on their destination today, and more inclined to stop for things. And for caffeine. Lots and lots of caffeine.

[Winter's got her phone with her at all times while they're out of the barrier, and is making a point of keeping it charged, just in case anyone wants to reach her; calls will go to the car phone, so don't say anything you don't want heard by half a dozen girls and a civilian. Once she's left the city, network messages to the team will, of course, bounce. Members of the travel party, please feel free to start log threads of your own - this is hardly a one-girl car, after all.]

[[She gets a faint snort in reply for that, though there's a small smile to go with it.]] I'll just have to make sure you don't hear anything then.

So long as I don't get caught, right? [[but the smile lingers]]

Don't worry about me. Just worry about yourself, okay?
