[Weird monsters have been showing up around town. After running away from them on the 29th, Ken's resorted to carrying a broomstick around no matter how weird it may make him look. It'll be useful when he has to swat any of them away -- but even that wasn't enough preparation for angry pointy pieces of wood, so he has to run again, and so he does.

Towards YOU, though really he wasn't intending to. He's not paying the most attention to where he's going, and he scales a chain-link fence and jumps down, toward the sidewalk on the other side without looking. Straight toward your head.

Shit. He can't just turn back either, stuck in midair with toothpicks behind him--]

[Brushes can't protect you from powder, though, and the brush is how Ken gets a blast of mint dust in his face when he tried to swat the Altoid away with it. And it sucks, because he gasped and got it all in his nose and mouth and eyes and now his eyes are itchy and tearing up, his nose is sniffly, and his throat itches. And he can't stop the tears long enough to figure out where he is and which way is home. But he can see YOU, blurry figure standing not too far away, and he manages to make his way over to you.]

E-excuse me? [A tap on your elbow or shoulder or back. If you look down, toward him, it's a miserable looking thirteen-year-old who looks like he just got the Allergies from Hell.]

I'm trying to find my way home, but I got something like hay fever really badly and I can't see. If you have some time, could I ask for some help?

Either we're going to go into the back yard and you're going to heal yourself, or I'm calling your dad to take you to the doctor.

[... ... He sighs.]

Okay.

Let's go. [He gets to his feet.]

[Matt is going to make sure he's not limping too bad. If he is, he'll help Ken to the yard.]

[Not too badly. But he'll sit down again once they're in the yard to pull off his shoe and sock so he can look, curious as he is. It's just a little swollen.]

It won't be too bad, I guess.

Even better. You probably just twisted it when you landed.

Y-yeah. I slipped a little before I jumped, so I didn't land the way I wanted to...

[He sighs. And he raises the Evoker he took out to his head, pressing it against his forehead with both hands. He hesitates a little, this time, no longer caught up by the adrenaline from the battle, and he has to take a slightly shaky breath before he's able to pull the trigger.]

[Matt will stop him before he pulls it.] Hey. We can just call a doctor, really.

[orangehoodie]

... I'm not scared or anything.

[pheromonecoffee]

Yeah, but you don't look comfortable, either.

[orangehoodie]

Well-- of course not, you know? It's a gun, and--

[he sighs again and lowers the Evoker]

... My dad makes me keep our insurance card on me.

[Matt is very okay with this choice.] Want to wait until my aunt and uncle get back? We can drive you.

If that's okay. How long are they going to be out?

Probably not much longer. One of them will eventually show up.

Okay. I'll tell my dad so he won't worry... I'll tell him I just tripped.

Yeah, you might not want to tell him about the toothpicks...

I won't tell him. I know he's just worried, but because of that I don't want him to worry so much.
