When my and my bro first got involved with this I wasn't really sure how much I wanted to actually get invested. After everything that has happened it looks like a lot of us don't really have much of a choice. At least not if we want to keep the people close to us safe.

To get to the point, I'm looking for someone who would be willing to give some training. I've seen people talk about it in the past and wonder if there's someone out there who would be willing to do something one on one, or in a small group. I've taken fencing almost all my life but...pretty sure what I've received still won't be enough. And hell, it doesn't even have to be with a sword. Hand to hand combat would be good to know.

In return I'm willing to teach some first aid. Your basic stuff along with suturing, properly cleaning wounds, and how to treat basic bone or joint injuries. Stuff like that. I can also build things but that would require more time since my equipment is back home in Germany.

[There is silence for a while before she sighs]

I literally got back swordfighting today, so I can maybe try and teach a little?

And yeah, I know that sounds like one of Owen's games.

[That makes her grin]

Yea it kind of does. Any idea how it ended up going?

[It also sounded pretty damn cool. She might not be as vocal as her brother about her love for the fantastical, but it is there.]

Well, I know there was a battle [that was going poorly] and a dragon but I don't know how it went yet. Which sucks, lemme tell you. I've got a freaking song about the thing but no word on if they won!

A dragon? [Damn. It's still so weird to hear about these things. A really shouldn't be anything surprising but as much as she enjoyed fantasy that's what it has always been for her--fantasy. Winry had always been a down to earth person. Hearing these things actually exist, or existed is still hard for her to swallow] Damn. Well, here is hoping. How does the song go?

It's kinda depressing, about missing home and stuff. You sure you wanna hear it?

[That's a feeling she can definitely relate to and she is grateful Kili gives her the warning. SHe considers for a moment before nodding.]

If you don't mind.

[There's a few moments where he's just thinking before he starts singing. He's quiet for a few moments when he's done, watching Winry]

[She's quiet as she listens, following the tale Killian weaves. He's right. The song is one that makes her heart ache and while her situation is far from that of the one told in the song she still can't help but feel empathetic. Her eyes close midway through and open once Killian finishes.]

You're a good singer.

Thanks. I'm not the best but better than Uncle Thorir.

[He laughs a bit]

You okay?

[Her eyes crinkle, but then the question catches her a little off guard. It's not a question that she has been asked a lot, since after everything Owen had said most people had worried about him. Winry know part of that is her own fault since she puts up a front--and indeed, that front is what keeps her from opening up to Killian. Still, it's means a lot that he asked.]

Yea, I'm ok. I guess I'm still just trying to wrap my mind about everything that has happened and...the song did hit close to home, in some regard. [That's as much as she's willing to admit. Killian seems kind, and her impressions thus far have her holding him in high esteem but there are some things she doesn't even tell her twin]

How about you?

Eh, been better. Been worse. March is officially my least favorite month ever. Not even December came close, man.

I say we move to officially ban March from existence. Put this all behind us and move straight onto April and hope it's better. [Giving the bits she has been hearing though she's not sure it's going to be the case]

Meeting adjourned! I say we celebrate this successful banning and our upcoming training somehow. You like video games?

Is it okay? I am still kind of training with a bunch of others too but...I want to figure out what kind of weapon or whatever works for me the best?

And yup! I'm okay, I had a good long talk with it about my dad and boy, let me tell you!

[Ahahahahahaaaa...] What about you? You okay?

Yeeaa...me and Owen. Should probably talk things through with our aunt and uncle. [After this they can't keep going on about Owen being unstable.]

I don't see why it would matter much? It couldn't hurt to ask at least. What sort of training have you been doing?

Yeaaahhhh, I just...don't really know how to talk to my dad about this? How do you even talk to them about being on the network and everything? [Not to mention some of the trouble she had been in...]

Uh...let's see...there's sword training and I've been thinking if I had some magical abilities in the past or something? But so far, there's not a whole lot of anything?

Hopefully they'll be a little more open to something like that after what has happened. I guess it's still a little different when you are trying to convince them of your own involvement. If you do get magical powers that would definitely help. Have any friends who do? Being shown something like that would be convincing.

Well, I know that my brother used to be involved with the network and hold dad about his echoes but...I don't really know how much he told him? But I don't really think I'm going to test out what happens though!

I know one girl named uh...Sailor Neptune but that's about it? Other than that, I got nothing! I don't really have any other friends who could use magical powers like that of a magical girl...?

Well, maybe she would be willing to help out? Or maybe one of those people with super strength, I've heard some of them speak about it. [So jelly.] But I guess it would be a sort of awkward thing to ask.

Oh! He just found some other work in some other city so he managed to get away before the massive snake attack so...he got lucky I guess?

Exactly! So...I'm not even sure where I can ask that type of thing with other people? And especially...well.... [She gave a mumble] ....A lot of my friends aren't really...you know...on the network?

[Winry kind of frowns at that. Work is important. Hell, many people would say she was overly invested in work but family is family. Why would her brother up and leave her knowing the circumstances.]

I see. [It's clear from her tone Winry is a little pissed at the news]

Well if your brother told your parents about his echoes, at least they have some preparation. After the snake I think they'd be more open to hearing about it. I can be there and give my word too, if you want. Don't know how much it'll count for.

[Well, when there isn't much money in the family, you got to do what you got to do! Yes, she was still a little annoyed that he just left but there wasn't much she could do anyway once he made up his mind.]

Yeah, I know. [She didn't bother arguing. Instead, there was a hint of understanding from her tone.]

Knowing my dad, I know he'll be a little pissed about it! But I have no idea how well he'll react! Maybe he'll get a little more overprotective or something? I don't know, Winry, maybe I'm just worrying about this when I have nothing to be worried about.

[Okay, so Roy hasn't exactly been in the best of moods lately. But at his core, he's still a decent sort, and if someone requests assistance and he has the skills to provide it, it's not in his nature to look away and pretend he didn't see.

Plus, this offer may be motivated in no small part by that sick, deep satisfaction gained when he finally put his skills to good use.]

If you need someone else to help, I could see what I can do. I've taught a couple of other people the basics in fencing recently.

[....It didn't exactly go well but that was more because of ill-timed pulses whoops.]

The style I learned previously seems a little strange, but it shouldn't be impossible to learn.

Another teacher wouldn't hurt. It could help me learn a wider range of tricks. [She wasn't expecting to become some super awesome fighter through this. That took either years (which she didn't have) or an echo (which she wasn't going to rely on getting). Just learn things that would help her fight intelligently and get by.]

Strange in what way?

At the very least, I can offer you some exercise as a sparring partner.

[Roy's been lucky enough to receive the latter; he had never even touched a sword before he was forced into this world of aliens and magic numbers. He studied it on his own after he came into the talent, of course, but it wasn't nearly enough to give him the skill he had now.]
