So we all need a break and some fun right? Anthony and I are going to try to eat an entire cake, and there's a really nice bakery cafe thing on Pine so everyone is also invited to try. I, personally, will take any bets from someone who can finish an entire cake. Any takers?

Also I will be drinking hot sauce and coffee since somebody won't leave me alone about it :|;;;; Who wants to miss that? No one wants to miss that. I'm sure I'll laugh about it in thirty years.

No he seriously is waiting there at the cafe for anyone to join him. Because what is stupid adventures without friends?

But the more people come the better it is for the bakery owners, right? Totally. So grab a chair, get some coffee and let us all eat until we are sick. Just be prepared for commentary from the kid.]

Mine is the one that gave me the idea. [Rather his other self is the one who told Ken he drank hot sauce in his coffee.

BUT HE WILL BE chillin and waiting for people in the bakery. He does the dumbest things sometimes.]

Ha ha, I ree, remember that.

[He sends the message as he's on his way to the cafe, and it's not long before he arrives and finds Matthias.]

Hey! Forgot to ask: what kind of cake are we talking-ing?

[Alex is feeling ambitious.]

Any kind you want, so long as it's made for more than one or two people. [Matt is going to be good for business for so many food places by the time he's done in Locke.]

If other-me can eat a whole tray of cinnamon bun-zuh, a cake should be ease, easy.

[Alex takes a seat.]

But I have to try this coffee, fee, thing first.

[Matt slides the hot sauce across the table.] Just don't add too much in case you get sick. We don't want to get kicked out so early in the day.

[Alex orders a coffee, which comes almost immediately, and he dumps about four tablespoons of sugar in before lifting the hot sauce and eyeing it. He suspects Aximili would just swig from the hot sauce bottle, and have the coffee as a chaser. Alex is not convinced his stomach is quite that iron-clad, so he shakes a fair bit of the sauce into the mug.]

Does that seem fair?

[He likes things sweet, huh?]

More than fair.

[Alex has always had a sweet tooth, and the hefty dose of his other self's preferences has made it even worse.]

Okay, kay, bottoms up.

[He lifts the mug in a mock toast before taking a healthy swig.

His eyes start watering immediately. He manages to swallow, and not to cough, and braces for nausea that... doesn't happen. It actually tastes pretty good, even though Alex is aware it shouldn't. Kind of like knowing morphing should hurt when it doesn't.]

Huh. I think other-you was onto something-ing with this.

... You like it? [It didn't make him sick or anything but he didn't expect anyone to actually like it. Then again, weirder things have happened to him lately.]

It cleer, clear-lee ought to be gross, but isn't. [He takes another sip, thoughtfully.] I guess my taste buds really have been recalibrated.

[Which is slightly unsettling, but Alex sort of expected it to be the case.]

Other-me didn't have any in his use, usual body. Taste bud-zuh, I mean. And when he was human, he was kind of nuts about food.

--How could you live without taste buds? [Matt is legit horrified. Food the best part about being alive. Food and sleep.]

I know, right?

[Alex was similarly horrified, if not more so, at that revelation about his other self.]

He didn't know what he was missing-ing, I guess, 'til he came to Earth.

D'you know any more of the story, ree, behind this now? [He gestures with his mug, and takes another sip. The concoction really is growing on him.]

No clue. He probably told Ken he did it to get a reaction out of him. [At least that's what he assumes, because he has not echoed back any incident of the flavor or anything.]

I do it all the time.

You know Ken in ree, real life? Or you just do stuff for the reaction, shun, in real life?

Both. I met him right after we both started getting echoes. He's a good kid, but he doesn't laugh enough.

[No one can accuse Alex of that; he laughs at how readily Matt says 'both.']

Are you guys the only ones remembering-ing that stuff?

There's another kid who remembers something similar. It's the three of us.

I haven't found enn, anyone who remembers the same stuff I do.

[It's kind of depressing. He should think about happier subjects.]

Should I start making recommendations for random flavor combinations?

Yeah, but if I'm eating-ing the whole thing, I don't wanna go too crazy with the flavors.

Is it not, like, worth it to have peep, people to compare notes with?

And the only ones who remember what I do are eleven and thirteen. They don't need that.

Shuh, surely they do. Like, for Mexican hot chocolate or whatever. But I'm good with a different crazy, zee, combination if not.
