[ there's a puppy that reminds him of john, pawing at the glass surface of the display window to catch his attention and making him solely focus on it. it barks once, twice, tail wagging happily once he's watching its every move. it tumbles over with excitement and gets back up again, barking once more, although a bit quieter this time.

he doesn't know how long he stands there just watching its every antic, mesmerized by just how cute it is. the thought of going inside the pet store to see if he could play with it up close even pops up in his head, but no, no way, he's here for different reasons and wasting time with puppies is not one of them.

it's time to leave. he should really, really turn around and walk away now. but he can't. every time it seems like he's about to go, the puppy whines at him and he's stuck.

this is all keith's fault somehow.

but it might not hurt to stick around for a little while longer, right? ]

[Ahh, the mall. It's one of Kotetsu's favorite places to hang out and peoplewatch when he's off work. He doesn't spend as much time around here as he used to, and even today he's mostly here to pick up some things before he gets on his way, but it's still nice to watch people going about their lives as he goes. There's a kid watching a puppy in a window, and he smiles privately to himself before moving on.

...It's on the way back that he realizes the kid is still there, and Kotetsu finds himself coming to a halt nearby.]

[ he doesn't really know what's going on with this conversation anymore, honestly. but the more he thinks about it, the more he's sure this guy has no idea what he's talking about. dogs are dogs—they're always affectionate no matter what.
