The last time things changed, Marina's teasing got worse, I had to start lying to my mom and I ended up almost dying like five times.

I don't think I'll survive much more change.

I think the point is more that you DID survive. It hasn't been a whole lot easier on this end, but... This is what we have to deal with, now. Not much turning back from it.

It's just hard to be an optimist when I'm not sure how long we'll all hold out if things keep up at this pace. If things had kept up much longer... even with giant robots, none of us are immortal.

No, we're not. And I'm hardly what one would often consider an "optimist." If anything, I feel like I worry too much at times. But...

We're all growing, at the same time.

And not all of us are growing to realize we're the heroes.

I do say so, and I will keep saying so.

But... no. Not really. I have some aches and pains, a few little cuts and some slightly bigger bruises, but... nothing that won't heal quickly enough.
