Because of a certain clip that kept airing on the news, Marisa had gone from "That one weird girl in my class" to something of a celebrity at school. At first she enjoyed the attention, but as she realized it involved lots of people being afraid to talk to her it quickly started to wear thin. As she toddled down the halls on crutches, some people just stared, lots whispered "Wasn't she on TV?" or the like, some looked nervous. At first she tried actually answering questions, usually with snarky non-answers. After the fifth person asked her why she was walking on crutches when she could fly, anonymously shouted from the crowd in the halls rather than to her face, Marisa heaved a sigh. They wanted a show, she'd give them a fucking show.

She stopped on her way to AP calculus, closed her eyes, then hovered about a foot into the air. As the crowds in the hall parted before her in surprise and silence, she drifted on towards class.

Of course, after the initial surprise wore off this only made the attention worse. At least she didn't have to get around on crutches anymore.

Marina hasn't gotten nearly as much attention, but then again, her news appearance went unnoticed by most people who didn't explicitly recognize her. She hadn't even been using a spell at the time, so she was boring compared to the laser witch.

Which is why she had to comment when Marisa started floating by down the hallway. "...fucking showoff."

"Seriously?" was all Bakura had to say as he spotted her floating. "Did you just give up?"

She chuckled, mostly at herself. "Basically."

"You jelly."

He sighed deeply. "Better than crutching about, at least..." he half muttered, shaking his head before pausing to glare at a gawker. "What?" he snapped, sending the underclassman scurrying away. "Goddamned rubberneckers...."

"...extremely. Fuck you." Not sure if she's jelly of attention or flight.

"I probably wouldn't be doing this if I could fuckin' walk."

She appended on to this an infuriatingly carefree shrug.

"Eh, let 'em stare. Didn't seem much point after I showed up on the evening news."

"Still annoying as fuck," Bakura shrugged. "Like you need stalkers?" Like any of them did?

"This is why I can't be angry, just jealous." For now. Unless you push her.

"I don't blame you. Flying IS pretty great!"

She's pushing. She can't help it. It's her nature.

"I think stalkers are going to be part of all our lives now."

She looked down thoughtfully, "I wonder if I can hide where I live from them."

"I had to watch all of you fly around while I was just hoofing it, hitting things with a sword!"

"That sucks, yo. On the other hand, neither of us got a giant robot. Now THAT would be cool to have."

Bakura frowned a moment. "Probably. If I walk you home."

Vanishing after a certain point, having Diabound carry them over buildings, or Marisa fly them impossible places... that would do it.

"Oh yeah. You can, like, turn invisible an' shit. That sounds super useful."

God forbid Marisa ever get invisibility powers.

"I'll take being able to get around over something I can't hide." Or maintain or repair.

"So would I, honestly. I don't think I'm gonna be able to manage this all day without my broom. Shit's tiring."

Emil seemed to have flown past the radar - for now at least. When Marisa passed by, just the thought of being in her place scared him shitless and he couldn’t even realize why. Stupid Echoes giving back feelings he didn’t ask for, they didn’t even have the courtesy to come with a context.

So he covered the unease the best way he knew - taking it out on other people.

“Lame. Go higher, put some effort into it.”

"Really? You need a broom, so you're a witch, but you don't even have to be an old warty hag?"

"You can go as high as you want when you learn to fly. I don't want to hit my head on the ceiling."

"You're like those cool witches that are popular now. Ugh." Why does she have to be a knight? Those aren't trendy.

"Long way from here to the ceiling," he said with a shrug. "Now eveyone's gonna ask you to hang decorations and fix things."
