handwritten;
I have spent the last week painstakingly enchanting a small selection of high quality magical staves. Since I am a wizard, I find my own powers of spellcasting are more than sufficient for my needs. As such, I do not actually need the staves I have made. They were produced simply as a way to hone my craft; nothing more.
This means I am giving them away to certain parties that may be in need of them. If you would like an enchanted staff that fires elemental blasts at your foes, you need only make your case to me. Preference will be given to applicants who as of yet possess no useful echoes and agree to submit to some harmless tests.
No time-wasters.

I would like you to perhaps tell me a little about your echoes. Are they magical in nature? Are you magical in nature? I would also like to know of any particular strengths or weaknesses you consider yourself to have, echoes aside.
no subject
I guess in strengths I'm a quick learner? not too sure about my weaknesses
no subject
This doesn't affect your eligibility. It's merely for my notes.

[ That would be a "YEAH GURL YOU GOT ONE WOOHOO," then. Joy! ]
A final question: do you have an elemental preference? I have fire, ice and lightning staves. If you have no preference, you may choose a staff yourself at random.

[Item gained!]
uh, lightening I guess? probably because that wont cause as much damage if there's an accident

[ And have the address to Mithryn's Books, his little bookstore-slash-home. ]
[>action>]
[Which, given the fact that it's the weekend is not that long at all considering she walks. The extra spring in her step came from the fact that she was about to get her own magic staff. At the very least, she'd be able to defend herself better if something happened.
Finally, she reached the bookstore. She breathed slowly, adjusting her baseball hat, and finally knocked on the door.
Was magic a bad thing for an angel? Wasn't that a sin or something? She wasn't sure, but she really wanted a magic staff.]
no subject
Be sure to wipe your feet. You chose a lightning staff, correct, Miss...?
[ Excuse him while he ducks behind his shop counter to find the staff he's selected. ]
no subject
Yes I did.
Oh, Rakka. My name's Rakka Yoshitoshi.
no subject
If. If by "magical staff" you mean "magical duck-headed walking stick." He's just working with what's available, okay. ]
Your staff, Miss Rakka. Now: if you could lay your hands on it and tell me if you feel anything.
[ Unintelligent or non-magical people will feel very little - a slight tingling in the fingertips, perhaps. Those who are smarter or have an inate ability for magic should feel more, to the point where the wood seems to buzz and crackle with some sort of inner energy. Anything between these two options is also possible, of course! ]
no subject
Anyways, she does as he says, laying her hands on the walking stick. It's strange at first, but she started to feel the power inside it. The wood seemed to buzz with energy, making her hands tingle. She might not have been able to see it, but she swore she could feel her halo glowing a bit brighter.]
There's a lot of energy in it. It's kind of weird.

[ He rubs his hands together in glee, then leads the way out of the back door of the shop. There's a very neglected little yard with a rock garden out there, all surrounded by high brick walls. Excellent for dealing with magical doohickeys in relative privacy! ]
no subject
[Okay. Holding the magic duck stick, Rakka follows him to the yard. Both her hands are wrapped around the stick protectively. She might have been shaking a bit from excitement, or it might be the lighting stick she was holding.]
no subject
[ Nathaniel snatches at the air, sparks forming at his fingertips before he oh-so-casually fires a blast of lightning at the centre of the rock garden. One of the rocks flips over from the force, but everything is otherwise unharmed. ]
- thusly. I doubt you will need instruction: just point the staff and will the power to leave the staff. It should differ very little from the spell I just cast.
no subject
Whoa! Uh, r-right. I'll try my best.
[Breathing slowly, Rakka tried her best to mentally prepare herself, pointed the stick at a rock, and focused.
At first nothing happened, not like someone with no magic experience would become a natural so quickly. Her expression becomes troubled as she continues to focus and nothing happens.] Come on already-
[And then it happened, a blast of electricity flew from the walking stick. Unfortunately, It flew past the rock, striking the brick wall instead.]
...Uh, oops.
no subject
No harm done, no harm done... [Scribble, scribble.] Wonderful. A good, strong result. Perhaps a touch inaccurate, but lightning can be tricky that way...
[ He finishes writing, tucking the pencil he was using into a little pocket on his old man sweatervest before holding his hand out. ]
I need to inspect the staff myself for a moment, and then it is yours.
no subject
O-okay. Here. [she hands him the stick and takes a moment to adjust her baseball cap again. It was almost becoming a habit for her.]

Which seems to indicate that a more skilled wielder will be able to use his creations for longer, as well as getting more oomph from each use. He'll need to test more people to confirm that, naturally, but thus far things are looking very promising indeed.
And speaking of looking... He hands the stick back, nodding his head solemnly. ]
It should last through a considerable amount of use. Though only one as skilled in enchanting as I can perceive precisely how much power is left in the staff, you will be able to tell when the eenchantment is waning. Should it ever begin to feel empty, return to me for a replacement.
Now. You mentioned a halo?
no subject
Of course the only guess she could come up with was up their ass or something, as many people joked. That... that wasn't going to be a thing, so she just kept it in one hand for now.]
Okay, thank you.
[Oh yeah, that's a thing. She nods and, after a moment's hesitation, removes her hat.]
no subject
[ He circles her a little, peering at the halo. Then pulls out his reading glasses and squints at it more closely. WHAT IS RESTRAINT. ]
What happens when it's touched? I assume it's solid, since it doesn't just pop right through your hat... Can you feel it? Is it a part of you?
no subject
It.. uh, just floats around and... stuff. And it's real.
[She reaches up and pokes it, the halo wobbling a little.]
I got it in an echo. It wasn't attached or anything, but then I just put it above my head and... it started floating there. Now I can't remove it.
no subject
[ TIME TO TAKE MORE NOTES, YAY~ ]
no subject
[She shook her head causing the halo to sway with her.]
N-no, I can't say that I do. It's really just... there. Like a part of me now.
