And if you do ... how do you remember people around you taking it? Were you prized for it? Was it just another job, nothing remarkable? Or were you persecuted?

I get the impression I wasn't persecuted, but my accomplishments certainly weren't unremarkable.

[ Anders reminds himself once more that these are not special effects he's seeing. It's one thing to know, rationally and on an intellectual level, that all this stuff is not staged by Improv Everywhere. It's another thing to trust that knowledge on a gut level. Right. OK. Talking to a zombie. ]

Were there any visual markers of the spell casting process? Lights, sounds, smells?

I... don't think so? It was just a flash, but the people that were attacking her were killing... everyone.

I dunno. I don't think so. I was... smaller then now, I know that. [And considering he's 14-16 tops by appearances, the implications are grim]

And I think someone scooped me up as it was happening. That's all I know.

I stayed hidden out of convenience. I am working, and it is convenient to write in brief periods when my hands are not otherwise occupied.

But I live to indulge the curiosity of others. Do you believe in my lack of persecution yet?

My cousin and I can both use magic. I remember using it to fight each other in a past life.

I can't do it like this, but... I can transform into another me, and that me can do magic. I'm s-stronger and faster like that, too. The only thing I know is ice magic, though.

Not-me... kept it a secret, I think. Not that she'd be in t-trouble, but... I get the sense it was to protect the people close to her. Like some kind of a "there are people looking for me and they'll get my family if I tell" thing... maybe.

The clothing, well... nobody's home, so if you really want to see it, I c-can show you.

I don't remember doing it or how people reacted to it-- but I have it. But from the context of my memories, I probably learned it because I was in trouble.

Over all it seems to be normal, I've had a few pulses involving magic of some kind. I can use one of the...I guess it's a spell, now. Although it hardly does anything. I hadn't thought about it until now, but everyone in those pulses was wearing a particular uniform, and I almost wonder if that's something to do with the level of effectiveness.
