they're coming to get you, barbara [closed]

Who: Rachel Roth, Brooke Reynolds and Kara Miroshnychenko
When: Evening of February 15th
Where: Rachel's house
What: Bad horror movies and an irresponsible amount of discount candy.

The invitation was out, everything had lined up, and now all there was to do was wait. Them!, Return of the Living Dead, Dead Alive... it went on. Bad-good horror movies, all, and it was hard to go wrong with a classic ridiculous creature-feature like Them!. Rachel glided through the entrance hall, lighting a cigarette before glancing at her phone again to check the time.

"Hey, Brooke. You're sure this is fine?" she called into a nearby room.

God. It was so cool, the way Rachel did that hovering thing. And also adorable. Especially when she mentioned her bubbe while doing it. Brooke tried very hard to conceal how head-over-heels she was for Rachel, but Kara's hug and overall demeanor were just so damn infectious that it felt like every single positive emotion Brooke had was being amplified. Well, 'twas the season.

"It's great to finally meet you, too. I totally see why Rachel wanted to be friends with you," she lied. Not that Rachel was gloomy or anything, but... well, whatever, there was that saying about opposites attracting. "Sorry it took me so long to pick up that slack, but hey, we've got all the time in the world and more than enough movies to fill it with."

Kara couldn't help but giggle a little bit as she (in a much less interesting manner) followed down the hall - it was always cute to see couples who were visibly into each other. The tote bag bounced at her side, less a result of her stride and more a thoughtless discharge of more excitement.

"There is no need for the apologies! It is not as if it were something you were obligated to do," she replied with a smile. "Speaking of the movies, however, I must ask what we are watching as I am quite curious. Or is it meant to be surprising?"
