Who: Tater and Bakura
What: Tater wanted to see the pink stone down in the tunnels. Bakura's going to oblige.
Where: The tunnels!
When: Sunday afternoon.


Tater was perched on Bakura's shoulder and trying not to be too excited about this. He didn't want to have to ask people to take him places--he was his own parrot, and a very self-sufficient one at that!--but at least Bakura hadn't seemed to mind when Tater wanted to go take a look at the subway tunnels where the mysterious stone was.

"Are we almost there?" he asked eagerly as they went deeper down into the tunnels.

Whoa. Hello sudden change.

"...Just got flashbacked, did you?" Bakura asked, stepping close. "Or have you always had that voice hidden away?"

[radiantchicken]

"It just happened!" The distress in the deep, manly voice sounded almost comical as Tater flapped around a bit, startled at the change. "That's incredible! I sound like a human!"

[shiromadoushi]

Bakura couldn't help a small snicker that escaped. It was just... too funny not to. "Got that weird hollow feeling like you were empty a moment and then bam, man voice?"

[radiantchicken]

"Yes! That is exactly what happened!" The manly-voiced parrot still hadn't quite adjusted to his new voice yet, and the discrepancy between his overall tone and the new pitch of his voice was still pretty ridiculous.

[shiromadoushi]

"So this is what other you sounded like then, huh? Means he was likely more a person than a bird, huh?"

Trying so hard not to giggle. So hard.

"Pretty lucky, though. You can pass as a normal person on network if you just use audio now."

[radiantchicken]

"Hey, that's right! And people do tend to listen more to other humans than they do the talking animals of the network...this could really come in handy!" Bakura, you have caused a little lightbulb to go off over the parrot's head.

[shiromadoushi]

Bakura grinned, nodding. "And if you ever need to use the phone for some reason to call a normal person, you got that too."

[radiantchicken]

"Do you think anywhere delivers fruit?" Tater wondered. "Like to the door? Where I could just leave money outside and they could deliver fruit after I called them?"

[shiromadoushi]

"Grocery delivery would do that. Though I think it'd be kinda risky, just leaving money outside... though you probably could do it without too much worry if it's just taped to Thomas's door or something...."

[radiantchicken]

"What if I put it in an envelope?" Tater liked envelopes. They were fun to shred. It would be an envelope covered in parrot marks.

[shiromadoushi]

"Mmmm, that could work. Long as you didn't leave it there too long...."

[radiantchicken]

"See! I'm this much closer to being self-sufficient!" Even though he liked being around people, Tater liked the idea of being able to take care of himself.

[shiromadoushi]

The teen chuckled with a fond note. "For when Thomas is a flake with the groceries, you can have it covered, huh?"

[radiantchicken]

"Or...I could..." The parrot gasped at the magnitude of what he had just realized. "I could phone in and join that Fruit of the Month Club thing I saw on TV!"

[shiromadoushi]

... "Don't go calling numbers you see on TV. Most of them are scams," Bakura pointed out. "Besides, you'd need a credit card for that kinda thing."

[radiantchicken]

"But the Fruit of the Month Club seemed legitimate! And I've used Thomas's credit card before." There was no mistaking the note of pride in the parrot's voice. "I had to pay the museum back for a ticket from that time I visited! And I bought a bus pass, even if I can't actually use the pass itself when I use the bus."

[shiromadoushi]

Bakura opened his mouth before closing it, blinking. "...Does he know you did?" he asked, curious and a touch impressed.

[radiantchicken]

"I think he does! I was kind of hard on the keyboard when I tried to get on the internet-thing. He noticed the claw-marks on that, and then I kind of chewed up the card a little bit on accident..." Parrots. They're destructive.

[shiromadoushi]

"Only way you could hold it, huh?"

[radiantchicken]

"Well, it's not like I have hands," Tater replied defensively.

[shiromadoushi]

"And your feet weren't good for it?"

[radiantchicken]

He wiggles his clawed toes at Bakura. "They help, but I still have claws."

[shiromadoushi]

"Aaa, true... That would have the same sort of damage, wouldn't it?..."

He paused, blinking, as if just remembering why they were down in the subways to start with. "Aa-- was there more you wanted to see? Or should we head back up?"

[radiantchicken]

"It would! But that's okay--you get used to it!"

He looked around the area a bit more. "I think we're done here, if it all looks like this stuff. Thank you for taking me!"

Bakura nodded with a grin. "Any time~ Though I don't think down here's going to change much...."
