[Open] Chocolate and Hearts

[The age old problem has struck Tsubomi: The vending machine has her chips trapped. She tried to get it unstuck in a legal and delicious way buying another bag of chips but it's jammed behind the first one.

Knocking on it would be bad, so she paces in front of it, looking around it as though there might be some magical solution. She doesn't see one, though, and just tries tapping lightly on the plastic. Maybe it will knock it down somehow.]





[Valentine's Day! In celebration, Tsubomi dyed her hair a cotton-candy shade of pink. During lunch and after school, she comes up to unsuspecting people her age or younger with a bag full of candy. All, of course, of the Valentine's Day variety; hearts and pink and red and with cute messages on them.]

Excuse me! Do you want some chocolates? I have some candy, too, if you like that better.

[She opens the bag and holds it out proudly.]





[She ran home to fix herself up a little bit nicer first. It's too cold out still for most of her favourite outfits but she has to look especially nice. Boots and warm stockings and a beret with her hair put up in a low bun. After triple-checking it with her sisters, she runs out. She told him to meet her at a little park near her house.

As she waits, she keeps readjusting her scarf, shifting from one foot to the other.]

[Shuuya's late. He knows he's late, but all day he's been fidgety, unable to look at anything but the text message every ten minutes. At the park--that's easy. He can probably spot her from a mile away.

He arrives early, but he sulks behind the trees to wait for her to show up. When she does, he finds that he's unable to move. Rather, he stays behind his hiding place, looking at her.

... she's dressed up really nicely.]

[Tsubomi starts to bounce on the balls of her feet with nervous energy. He'll say yes. He'll probably say yes. He is pretty likely to say yes? And if he doesn't it's okay! They'll still be best friends. She tells herself that over and over, playing with a bow on her dress.

But he's kind of late and maybe he forgot where? She takes out her phone and sends him a quick text. She must lure him to the park then!

[When his phone buzzes he jumps, even though he knows it's probably her. Fumbling a bit, he takes out his phone and glances at the message, then pouts her way even if she can't see it. She wouldn't do that! Not with him here!

[Shin is holding on rather tightly to the papers in his hands when she approaches, tightening his grip when she approaches -- and then he blinks]

... Halloween?

[isolanis]

[Watching her? Oh. Tsubomi glances around, peeking around a tree.]

Shuuya! I'm going to eat half your food for hiding from me!

[publicity]

[That hair color... Wait a minute...

She stops walking, eyes narrowed, and...

Of course.

With a glance over her shoulder, to ensure none of her friends are nearby, of course, she turns back to her.]

...Yeah, I want some chocolates. You're Tsubomi, right?

[pianistofraielin]

Oh no, did it eat your money?

[Russel wasn't trying to sneak up on her, honest! He was just headed for the soda machine right next to the snack machine and noticed the signs of her distress.]

[He comes over to peer into the machine, looking for the problem.]

[deludings]

[What!!!]

You won't do that! [oops he shouted it]

[isolanis]

[She doesn't get it and tilts her head until her eyes widen.]

What? Oh! No way. I'd be in a costume then. [Oh. Oh no. Her face falls.] Didn't you get any chocolate today...?

[Poor kid.]

[isolanis]

[She instantly feels bad that she doesn't recognise the girl and laughs.]

Yeah I'm Tsubomi! Uhm... What's your name again?

[isolanis]

[She jumps but mostly because being caught looking so silly is embarrassing. Tsubomi rubs the back of her head.]

Ah yeah. The bags are stuck. I know you're not supposed to knock on them but...

[isolanis]

[Oh no he really thinks she would. She can't help it and starts to grin.]

Yep! I'm taking half of what you order and you can't stop me.

[deludings]

[What an injustice. He can't let it stand!

--so he'll be charging out of his hiding place to tackle her!!

Wait fuck]

[isolanis]

[Wait no this is not as planned-

She grabs hold of him when he hits her and clings so they fall together. The first thing she thinks is how romantic this could technically be, lying like this. But the second and more important one is that the ground is hard and cold.]

Owww... I'm not giving you chocolate now for sure. [Huff!]

[deludings]

[The impact of his fall was, for the most part, cushioned by her. With a groan, and realizing that it wasn't the best of ideas, he pushes himself up. He doesn't get up all the way yet, though.]

That's not fair. You promised me chocolate.

[oh, there it is, two chip bags jammed in the mechanics. there is some INTENSE BROW FURROWING as he considers how to fix this problem. because you know what's not fair? throwing money into a machine and getting nothing in return! and then having it happen twice!]

Wait! I have an idea.

[he motions for her to step back]

[his idea: put in another dollar-fifty and see if the third time's the charm.]

[...result: failure. now there are THREE chip bags stuck in the mechanics.]

WHY DID I THINK THAT WOULD WORK.

[isolanis]

[Tsubomi is somewhat more aware of things right now, with her intent for today, she she can't help blushing.]

All right, I'll give you chocolate if you help me up.

[deludings]

[What's that expression for...? Well, he ignores it as he stands up and holds out a hand for her.]

... sorry. You all right?

[abhero]

[Emil sees the girl standing planted in front of the vending machine, and raises an eyebrow.]

It's not working? [Coming closer, he notices the jammed bags. Well, merely tapping on it won't help!]

You have to hit harder than that. [He looks at the machine for a moment, calculating... before giving it a vicious kick. Another kick to its side, and the bags fall down.]

Huh? Uh. No, I didn't get any...

... You're Tsubomi, right? From the music club?

[isolanis]

[Tsubomi jumps - isn't it wrong to kick them?? - but when it works she forgets that part.]

Ah! Hey you got it! [She leans down and reaches in to get them before it somehow eats her chips forever.] I wanted to do something like that but I was worried it'd fall on me. That was cool!

[isolanis]

[She takes his hand and stands, brushing off her dress. Despite her blush she still smiles at him now. She has to fix her hat, too, and she laughs at how silly she must look.]

It's okay. It's fun playing around with you. It's one of my favourite things!

[isolanis]

[She holds out a bunch of chocolates. Please accept them you sad kid.]

Yes! That's me. You always run errands don't you? You look familiar.

[isolanis]

[Sadly he is not the only one who thought it was a good idea. Tsubomi watched closely as if, somehow, this would work brilliantly. So she's somehow very surprised when it doesn't.]

...Ah! Right because the other one got stuck too! [Geniuses.] Uhm- Crap, now what? It ate your money too...
