[ Say hello to Youou, looking tired and hard-set in the early hours of morning. ]

So... anyone have any ideas of how to explain away a really big and really old scar just suddenly appearing on your hand, because I'm pretty sure my family is going to notice. And, believe me, they're the kind to ask questions.

[ And while he really doesn't like keeping things from his family, and he absolutely hates lying to them, he likes the idea of involving them in whatever it is that's going on even less. ]

[Once Fay manages to disentangle from the sheets, he checks the network and finds this. Meandering out of the bedroom and following the lovely scent of coffee into the kitchen, he goes ahead to drape himself over Youou's shoulders where he sits.]

I could mix up some make-up? For your scar, I mean. It's a silly that it's on your hand, but it's better than nothing.

[ Youou leans back against him and turns his head to kiss Fay's cheek. ]

Make-up? [ The idea hadn't even occurred to him. ] You sure that's going to stick though?

[Fay makes a small, worried sound, running his fingers over the back of Youou's hand.]

Well, it'll stay on the back at least - make-up that strippers use is sort of meant to last, you know? We get a lot of bruises. But on the palm, you're going to have to keep adding it.

I know, I've seen them. [ They¨d actually worried him a little bit the first time he saw them properly. ] Anyway, I guess it'll just have to work. At least until I can figure out something to tell my family.

[ He captures Fay's hand and kisses his fingertips. ] It doesn't hurt you know. It's just... weird.

Not very attractive, I know. [Some nights his knees and thighs look just dreadful, really.]

Anyway, you're a mechanic and work with your hands, right? I know you don't like the idea of lying to them much, but you could tell them you're not sure where it came from and maybe you got hurt working?

[He returns the gesture by taking Youou's hand between his and pressing a small kiss against the scar. It might not hurt, but he's determined to fuss a bit anyway.]

Tch, that's hardly the issue I have with them. I just don't like seeing you hurt.

[ Youou shakes his head fondly but, being no stranger to the need to fuss himself, lets Fay have his way with his hand without any protest. ]

I guess. [ He just really doesn't like it. He slumps a bit at the table and leans further into Fay. ] God, when did our lives become so... so weird?

You too, huh? So far, I've been going with a glove and long sleeves. Told the 'rents all the cool kids were doing the glove on one hand thing.

[ Oh great. Somehow finding out he's not the only one does not make him feel any better. ]

Thanks, but I think I might be a bit too old for that kind of thing to work. Besides my work kinda requires me to use my hands a lot.

So, did yours just pop up out of nowhere one morning when you woke up or...?

Bummer. Sorry man, that's all I got. I'm kinda wondering what the hell I'm gonna tell 'em this summer, myself. 'Cause this glove shit isn't gonna cut it much longer.

Man, I wish. It happened last time I was in the DD. One of those wolf-things chased me and another kid outta there. Thought the damn thing had got hold of me, but nope. It'd already stopped chasing us by then. It was just...these scars.

So, did you hear that wolf howl last night, or something? That seems to be setting all this stuff off again for a lot of people.

Sounds like an interesting night. But at least I guess that makes the littlest bit of sense? Well, at much sense as any of things make.

[ There's a tired sigh. ]

Make up has been suggested to me, might work for you as well. Other than that, the only thing I can think of is faking an injury that could explain the scar later but, well, that depends on the scar. I'm not quite sure how I would be able to fake mine.

And no I didn't. I sleeps like the dead. [ A small pause. ] Which actually is rather unusual for me, now that I think about it, but either way I didn't hear a thing. Any idea of what happened?

Makeup, huh? I might give that a shot. They make waterproof, right?

And all I know is what I've heard people talking about on here. Some of 'em heard a wolf howling, some feel like they're being watched, and some feel like there's something following them around. Whichever happens, it usually seems to come with one of those extras we keep getting. Don't think anybody's got any ideas as to what's causing it though. Not that I've heard, anyway.

Yeah, I guess that will work for a while. But with my job it's not going to hold up forever. I'm going to need an excuse sooner or later.
